I think it would be cool to get an Old Republic story where we see opposing Jedi philosophies come to a head, not in a violent way, but where we see Jedi debate on the nature of the Force and the dark side. Maybe some Jedi see the dark side as an evil that needs to be purged, where others see it as an aspect of all life that needs to be understood.

That would be great to watch, they can probably pull inspiration from early church history with their theological and doctrinal difference, councils etc .

Too complex and cerebral. People just want white hats and black hats whacking colour-coded glow sticks together.

FTFY (Fixed That For You)

If “sanitized” = “fixed”, alrighty then.

I feel so lonely having never had a girlfriend. At my age most people are sexually active while I’ve never even kissed someone. It’s not like I just want a relationship to not feel left out, it’s that I want one anyways and everyone else having one makes it feel so much worse. I don’t get involved with incel communities since they’re a bunch of misogynistic fatalists (to varying degrees, but even r/incelswithouthate has a pinned thread for members who killed themselves, so I don’t feel at ease there). I always try to have a positive outlook on life, and while I do what I can to focus on other things for the time being, after a while you can’t help but let your thoughts drift back. It’s not really something you can indefinitely ignore. I’m alone and it hurts.

I can empathize. All too well.

All Things Star Trek

Another pet theory, which isn’t really mine since I stole it from others: Picard never left the Nexus. Every Trek series and movie released after Generations is set in a pocket universe where Picard is the Gary Stu action hero he always secretly wanted to be.

Best aspects of this theory? Kirk isn’t really dead and DS9 remains in-continuity.

$1.073 billion at the moment. Hopefully it at least ends up making more than Joker (which ended its run at $1.074 billion).

Why?

I guess he hates Joker.

Nah, I just think it’d be embarrassing if TRoS made less money than an r-rated film that wasn’t even released in China.

Embrace schadenfreude and be free.

Vader’s redemption kind of comes out of nowhere. But it doesn’t matter unless you expect a fully realised villain, with many facets and deep characterisation. The Empire might seem like fascist super state, but meaningful comparisons to real historical figures are not really appropriate. It’s just Star Wars.

All the more reason why Trek is the superior Star franchise.

Maybe once, not so much these days.

Difference is modern Trek doesn’t retroactively ruin what came before. At least not for me.

Have you seen the new Picard show?

The newest ST series I’ve seen is DS9.

Probably explains a lot.

I mean the artwork is nice, people are good at what they do. But on the other hand it’s only just far enough into the past so they can stick with the same SW aesthetic.

Let’s be honest. They could’ve set this 4000 years in the past, and they’d still stick with the same SW aesthetic.
