a timely “BUMP”.

This just might be the first Silver Age Batman story I’ve read which wasn’t almost wholly cringeworthy (probably due to the focus being on Batgirl rather than the Dynamic Duo). Robin was still an insufferable stain, though.

Bats first got an all-black costume in the comics in the '90s.

Anyway I love the batsuit because it still embodies the comicbook feel.

I can live with it, but I still prefer the gray-with-black-trunks look.

Even separating the artist from the art, I hate Singer’s superhero films. I’m sure the “superhero costumes r stoopid” mindset has always been around, but I don’t recall it infecting the movies, television, and even the comics to any great degree before Singer got his hands on the X-Men. I’m not embarrassed by comics, but I do think the costumes worn by characters from those comics would look pretty stupid on the big screen. Maybe we didn’t need black leather outfits, but I’d prefer that to the yellow spandex from the old comics.

YMMV, but I see nothing intrinsically stupid about these uniforms:

Admittedly, I wouldn’t mind more utilitarian boots & gloves, but the overall colours and design of the suits are just fine. Made with the right fabrics (NOT spandex) I think they’d translate to live-action quite well.
