do people hate dex’s diner’s scene because dex himself is a big pile of cgi shit or are there other reasons?

How about Ewan McGregors terrible reshoot beard?

Oh, and the wig.

It’s not even noticeable. General Dodonna’s the only one in SW with a distractingly fake beard.

I assume you meant “General Madine”.

PROS

  • The stargates have pronged upper chevrons, just like in the original film.
  • The chevrons don’t glow, just like in the original film.
  • The Goa’uld & Abydans speak ancient Egyptian rather than English/made-up gibberish, just like in the original film.
  • The miscellaneous other tidbits which hearken back to the original film.
  • Sarah Navratil’s curves.

CONS

  • The writing.
  • The direction.
  • The characterization.
  • The humour.
  • The production values.
  • The pointlessness.

What are you reading?
Time

I first read this novel back in 2006/07. I remember finding it underwhelming, but couldn’t remember why. Having re-read almost half the book, it’s coming back to me. Little’s quite talented at infusing creepy/disturbing imagery in his descriptions, but these characters are weak and the strange happenings which I assume are meant to instill dread in the reader mostly come off as absurd and tedious. Consider this one weeded.

Unproduced Screenplays: ones you've read or plan to read
Time

Screenplays I recall having read:

  • The Star Wars (Rough Draft)
  • The Star Wars (Revised First Draft)
  • Adventures of the Starkiller (Episode One) The Star Wars (Second Draft)
  • The Empire Strikes Back (First Draft)

Screenplays I plan on reading:

  • A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors (Wes Craven & Bruce Wagner draft)
  • The X-Files: “Flight 180” (the unmade episode that eventually became Final Destination)
  • Jason vs. Freddy (Brannon Braga & Ronald D. Moore draft)
  • Stargate (early draft where Ra wasn’t an alien)

Prom Night- One of the “classic” slasher movies that came out in the wake of Halloween. Carpenter was my film teacher’s favorite punching bag, and I confess that Halloween has never been a favorite of mine, but I appreciate it more the more knockoffs I watch. Prom Night is slow, boring, and even at 94 minutes, feels way too long. No interesting characters, no suspense, no style, flat direction, simply dreadful and dull.
