I don't mind SEs as long as the originals are still out there.  it's why I don't mind the HD versions of TOS or the EEs of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films,so I have no problem with this.

Yeah, this was my line of thought about it.

The Anniversary Edition is, for all intents and purposes, the same as the Star Wars Trilogy's SE, only less egregious because you can still access the original edition - at the simple push of a button, no less. Would if we had that same ability with the SE. I certainly would enjoy the SE a lot more if I could just press a button and see the original film.

If they were changing the graphics permanently and not allowing you to play the original version, then I'd be upset.

Yeah that has always been my feeling.  I really hate it when a movie is remade and the studio stops putting out the original version on home video.  thankfully nothing like this seems to be happening with Halo and this is just a fun way to put the games out on the new systems and I have no problem with that.

24 Live another day
Time

Yeah it was good.  I have said it before and I will say it again I think doing 12-16 episodes of a show a year the way the BBC and cable does results in a high quality show before everyone has more time to think about what they are doing.  That is not so say those networks don't produce bad shows but it seems that the talented people are just able to work better when they aren't being pushed to do 24-26 episodes in a single year.  In particular I think it helps the writers since they don't have to rush the scripts through and they are not tired all the time. It's hard to find flaws in your own writing when you are tired.I would love for 24 to continue as a summer show at this length, this may be their best season and I think it is my favorite since season one.

I did not see that ending coming and it leaves so many things up in the air.  I hope Chloe got a pardon two since Heller owes her just as much as he owes Jack and I have to wonder how this will effect the deal with the Russians.  i am guessing the nest episode will skip ahead to the next morning and the last four episodes will take place on the next day.

It's hard to believe there are only four episodes left this season. it's been so well paced that it has just flown by. Still I don't want more episodes since I think it's the season being cut in half that has made it so good.  i would rather have 12 episodes a year that are this good then 24 that are not.

Am I the only one who never had a problem with the ending for Halo 2?  I bought the game a couple days after it came out and even at that point we all knew that Halo 3 was coming and the middle part of a three part story always ends on a cliffhanger so it didn't bother me at all.  I mean just look at say Empire,or The Two Towers. If you know you are getting a third part I have no problem with the second part ending with a cliffhanger and it's not like the game was cut short for the cliffhanger, that was one packed game disc at the time of it's release.

Yeah and it seems to be capturing footage from old games just fine.  i plan to focus on Windows 95 games I played in the mid 90s in my videos since there do not seem to be a lot of videos about the games I played as a kid. Most videos on Youtube are either about the most recent games or NES/DOS games. Mid 90s windows stuff seems to fall through the cracks. Well not any more.

This is one reason I don't get the constant calls from people that "Well of course Han should have died in ROTJ, the film would've been so much better". Yes because shocking major character deaths in Alien3, X-Men: The Last Stand, ST7 & ST10 were so popular with the fans and those films are so well respected for it.

However, for the record 'Alien3' is awesome and if you want Newt and Hicks to be still alive then read this excellent book...

...although they did have to change the names to Billie and Wilks (The comic it's based on still has the proper names though).

 I didn't know that existed,thanks.

That is the one thing no Alien movie has done that I am still waiting for.  I want to see the Aliens on earth.

Then totally read those books in order, they follow Hicks (Wilks) and Newt's (Billie's) adventures after Aliens, then Earth gets swarmed by Aliens and Ripley finally returns to save the day in book 4 I think.

 Just ordered it from amazon,thanks!

Now if only someone would do a series of books like that for Mass Effect:)

I signed some sort of petition.  It was either this one or the one to make this country a one party system with the Nazis in charge.  I was pretty tired and I always get those two mixed up.

I don;t understand how you got those mixed up,, their quite different.

 Not in my mind!

You should come visit it some time.

But what point does it serve in the end other then to say "Life's a bitch and then we die"?  Okay fine if that is the point you want to make more power to you but did we really need three movies to do that?  The second movie doesn't really fit into the story and really should be removed.  For the story they wanted to tell in Aliens 3 to work I think they should have just had Ripley crashing after the events of Alien and pretended the second movie never happened since it doesn't work at all with the tone or message of the third film and it makes everything feel disjointed.  I mean the second half of the second movie wasn't needed at all and we really didn't need any sequels to tell this story, they could have just had the alien in the lifeship kill Ripley at the end of the first movie and gotten the same point and story across.

Sorry but to me it just made the first two films feel like padding so I would rather right off one film then two.

Largely the problems with Alien 3 as it stands stem from the bolted on prison planet plot strand which is barely touched upon beyond the design ethic.

As a wooden monastery, with the Alien as Satan and Ripley as the sacrificial lamb the piece makes sense. Her impregnation as a metaphor for possession and infection panics (like the AIDS crisis). Ward's Alien 3 is one of the great unmade movies. The environment, the Bosche nightmares. The feeling of crawling dread would have made it as unique as the first film.

The theatrical version of what we got was a mangled version of a mangled version but it's better than Alien 4 which is better than Prometheus.

As for aliens on Earth, I can't see the point. Earth in the time period of the films is as alien a place as any of the other planets in the films.

The only Earth we can really relate to is the one of our lifespans so AVP2:Requiem for all it's hideous rubbishness is as close to  the 'Aliens on Earth' film that makes sense as to make no odds.

Now that is a movie I would watch because it has a point and isn't just a tacked on depressing ending to a story that had already ended.  That version of Alien 3 is the one I want to see.

what's with the King James talk?

Is it not talk like King James day?

Talk like King James day? never heard of this.

That was a joke.  Though we already have talk like a pirate and talk like Yoda days so I don't think talk like king james day would be too out of place on the internet.

Well then why not just kill her off in the first two minutes of the first movie?  She didn't do anything, she didn't save a single life.  The first two movies were completely pointless since we were just watching her survive and not doing anything.  See for me the ending of Alien 3 renders the inter series pointless.  I mean the whole point of Aliens was for Ripley to face her demons and defeat them, what is the point if she still has the same problems after that and is going to die in a few days.  In many ways Alien 3 is a reboot since from a character and plot stand point it's as if Aliens never happened.  I don't really mind alien 4 because for me the franchise was already dead, all Alien 4 did was burn the corps.

I am not saying every series has to have a happy ending but if the only thing that happens in a series is that the character we follow gets out alive while everyone else dies and then deals with her personal issues then what is the point of the story if the one person she saves dies and she ends up being defeats by her demon and doesn't make it out a live?  Why even bother watching the first two movies?  The whole story could have been told in five minutes, everything beside her death is just padding stretching a five minute story out to six hours, that's how I feel any way.

Well there are two hours of my life I will never get back and yes like Alien 3 I don't count this in my head cannon since it ruins the perfect ending of a movie I loved.

 I have a similar reaction to Alien 4 :-D

Well Alien 3 killed off Newt and took away the happy ending for Aliens so that is where I stopped counting.

Yeah i saw the original first a long time ago and I only watched this one because The Nostalgia Critic was doing it and I like the watch the movies for myself before seeing his reviews because once in a while I don't agree with them.

There are also times that he misrepresents and messes up the timeline of a plot in his reviews. Like his review of the first Power Rangers movie. The timeline of the movie is a lot less messed up than his review would have you think.

Yeah not that I mind this that much since he is comic first and a critic second.  When he messing something up I just chalk it up to a simple mistake and treat it the same way I treat it when MST3K would make cut to a movie to get it down to time and then the plot wouldn't make sense,it's there to make me laugh so it doesn't really bother me.  I end up watching most of these movies at some point any way.  Still this was just bad,it was even worse then he made it out to be.  I didn't know such a thing could happen.
