What does that phrase mean any way?

I mean why would slapping someone make them silly, and how long would you have to do it for any way?

There are some good parts of this movie, I like the built up in the first act and the fact that unlike most movies they don't show the disaster wiping out the human race over night and instead it took almost 100 years.  Also anything to do with the relative time aspect of the story I liked.  It's just in the end it was too long, too talky, and the ending was just way to silly for my taste.

If this were any episode of say The Twilight Zone where the rule of science go out the window I think I would have liked it better but I feel like they told me that the story was playing by one set of rules but when the story ran into a wall they completely changed them and so the last act feels like it belongs to another movie, and sadly since it is a time travel ending it messes with the rest of the story so this whole movie just ended up feeling silly.

Oh and just a general note, am I the only one who is getting a little tired of the way all modern movies seem to run almost three hours?  It's just too long in my book and even the movies I like these days I almost always end up wishing about half an hour of scenes were cut.  Maybe I am alone in this but I end up feeling board and worn out by the end of most movies these days and so I find myself less and less likely to set aside the time to watch them.

Oh and 4.0 out of 10 on my scale means that it is just below average.

To give you some idea of what that means I consider Search for Spoke to be a 5.0, so a 4.0 isn't good but it is far from the worst I have seen.  if this movie had just had someone with a brain look at it's script and it had been edited down to eighty minutes or so it would have been much better.

Oh and if you insist on putting pointless robots in your movie make them look like something other then cardboard boxes.  The robot in a $200 million movie from 2014 should not look worse then ones seen in a 1970s episode of Doctor Who that had a budget of a few thousand dollars.

No doubt his expectations were too high and he ruined the movie for himself.

Not really, if Micheal Bay had directed this movie I still would have felt like throwing up when all that insanity about love controlling the laws of time and space showed up.

That is the kind of garbage that is it were put in a Disney movie it would get called out for the badly written sap that it is but because Nolan made it this trash gets a pass for some reason.  Every time he does something no matter how stupid it is it gets praised as the greatest thing the human race has ever produced when if you had Micheal Bay make the exact same movie it would have a 12% on RT.

People say that like Nolan's movies because it is cool to like them not because they really think they are any good.  He's a name brand at this point, not a director.  He needs to stop trying to make deep epics and start making smaller films that have to stand on their own merits.

Well, isn't it that way in the comics? I liked team ups when I was a kid. That's what made the first Avengers film so much fun. And I don't think it's ever been done in movies before.

It may have been done to death since the 70's, but this crossover was a pretty big deal when I was a kid.

There is already connective tissue between GOTG and the rest of MCU, but I don't want to see them turn up on Earth unless there's a darn good reason.

If there's ever a crossover with the Avengers, it should be on GOTG's turf. Then they end up needing Starlord and company's experience to survive, after getting their asses handed to them of course. ;)

How did they get a whole comic out of that.  I mean I love Spider-Man as much as the next guy but I fail to see how he would last five seconds in a battle against Superman.

Supes and Spidey have a brief tussle, before teaming up against Lex Luthor and Doc Ock, didn't have quite the same ring to it. ;)

IIRC, Lex zapped Spidey with red sun radiation, which briefly made it a fair fight.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense.

Interstellar.

Okay I am a huge Nolan fan and I defended both The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel.  I also believe Person of Interest is one of the best TV shows ever made, so please remember that.

Am I the only one who wasn't blown away by this movie?  For one thing it needs an editor.  I mean what this story boils down to is the type of thing Doctor Who or Star Trek would do in one forty-five minute episode.  Second the acting is just not that good, everyone is either whispering or crying their eyes out and there is no middle ground and that gets old real fast.  Then there is just how full of it's self this story is. This movie so badly wants to be 2001 but it just isn't, it has nothing that interesting say and it doesn't trust the viewers to work out even the most basic plot point on our own, things are explained in detail several times in a row and the ideas are not that interesting or complex to begin with.  I really wanted to like this movie and the idea of treating faster then light travel in a realistic way is something that I think was long overdue, but then it throws the realism out the window in the last act for the dumbest ending I have seen since the theatrical cut of Blade Runner.  By the time Anne Hathaway was babbling about love controlling time and science answer to it and people where becoming psychic and figuring out things they had no way of knowing I gave up.

I am sorry to say this but the movie was way too long, the good idea it had were smashed to pieces by other ideas that were some of the dumbest I have ever heard and the robots look like something made out of garbage by an eight year old.

There are some very nice looking shots in this movie and there are some truly great scenes like when our hero watches the messages from home but that but that isn't enough to hold this movie up and by the last hour or so I was just waiting for it to end and I just don't understand why so many people seem to love this movie.

I wanted to like this movie, I really did but in the end I was just bored.

Oh and the less said about the stupid idea that if there was a food shortage every nation on earth including the terrorists would just throw away their guns and ban war and that they wouldn't fight over food the better.  That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard in my life.

Sadly a movie that should have reminded me of 2001 just ended up reminding me of Star Trek Voyager, what a shame.

4.0/10

Well it does now.

Because they finally released season four on DvD, I only got to see the first episode but I liked it.

I was expecting it to be really bad based on how people reacted to it but it felt like the some show to me.  I mean you could tell they were having to write around when actors were free to film it but lots of shows have had to do that and it was still funny.

Still when there isn't a chance the show will come back in any form and the viewers are left hanging it would be nice if the Network could give us some closure, I mean they already have the sets, costumes, and actors.  Just air a TV movie during the summer when you would normally be rerunning The Middle or The Big Bang Theory.

I know it's never going to happen but it would be nice if it did.

This sort of thing is why I am always reluctant to try new shows until they have at least three seasons behind them, because now adays there are always plot arcs and I can't stand not having answers so I want to be sure a show is going to be around before I jump in.

That said I am also getting kind of sick of plot arcs, I know they keep viewers coming back but now it seems like in every show ever character has a dark secret that is slowly revealed and there is a mastermind with a massive plot controlling everything and it is just getting a little stale.

I am not saying plot arcs are bad but I also miss stand alone episodes where if I miss a week I am not completely lost.

I think that may be why I like Deep Space Nine so much despite it's flaws, it did a mix of different type of episodes. Even during the war the writers knew that fighting moves away from certain fronts at times so it is rare for one person to be on the front line all the time and involved with every battle and life has to go on even in war time.  I miss the mix of episode types and it seems like every show just keeps going darker and darker.

I want a modern day show that is like The Rockford Files, a show that has some grit but also has a sense of fun to it.  Burn Notice used to be that show for me but it's not around any more and sadly I have yet to find a replacement.

I feel your pain. Years back, when I still bothered watching TV for something other than older movies and shows, it happened to me all the time.

Yeah I mostly stick to my classic film collection and METV these days.  Still I have not been able to expand my home video collection for a while so it is always nice when there is something new on free broadcast Tv that I really enjoy.  It always makes me sad when they end like this after one season.

I wish Networks still made TV movies for one reason, it would be nice if when they canceled these shows they would at least give the show a movie to try and tie up the loose ends and give the story some kind of closure.

You will not believe how grateful I was when Farscape got The Peacekeepr war to close out it's story.  Every show that is left hanging should get that.

Oh and am I the only one who thinks the rating system for games is broken.  I mean in Mass Effect all you really see are a couple of kisses and the game doesn't allow you to cheat on the person Shepard is in a relationship with and it gets an M rating.

In The Sims your Sims can cheat with every person in town and sex is a huge part of the game and it gets a Teen rating, something is not right with this.

I think my copy of the Sims 3 may be glitching.  I have a family on on the game and there is a father and daughter in the family that the game labels as such but for some reason the teenager daughter all of the sudden keeps making a wish to go on a date with her father, so you have the whole underage thing being combined with incest in a teen rated game.

Yeah I am pretty sure this is a glitch.

I've been playing the Donkey Kong Country series for SNES lately.  The first two are nearly perfect.  The first two sucks major donkey ass.  It's like it took the very few things that were annoying/didn't work about the first two and decided to base the entire game around them.  I hated it.

I'm confused. First you say that the first two are "nearly perfect", then you say they "sucks (sic) major donkey @**" Then you say that the first two take the worst parts of the first two and make entire games about them.

Congratulations Possessed, you managed to break reality and cause this to happen.

That episodes blew my mind when I was a kid.  I couldn't figure out how they paid for all the different Enterprise models on a TV budget.

Yeah that takes some getting used to, even if you like turn based games.  I got into RPG with Final Fantasy but in those games they don't duplicate dice rolls so when you tell your character to do something they do it, going back KOTOR took some getting used to.  Still I play it for the characters and the plot and those are well worth it.  Not to mention that despite the graphics not being high res they still look pretty good.  I'll play it over Mass Effect 3 or the most recent final fantasy games any day of the week despite the dated combat.

So does the kids book have the sex scenes and the guy getting tossed out of the blip?

No, but it looks as if Bond and a black hared Zorin have become giant sized on the Golden Gate Bridge!

I knew it was only mater of time before I got my dream crossover of the James Bond and Godzilla franchises!

Wow, I had no idea that existed.

Goodnight.

Oh and view master slides, that is just insane.  At least the video games today come with a rating.  I can't believe that the generation who grew up with these toys complains about video games.

You have to wonder what kind of outcry you would have today if you tried to market half this stuff to kids.

On youtube, I bumped into a few people that take the Bible to be the literal truth to the extreme.   Because there are a few passages that talk about the corners of the earth and such,  they believe the Earth to be flat.   I kid you not.  They actually believe the Earth is flat and not a globe.   They believe all pictures and films showing the Earth to a sphere are fakes.  They also believe that space travel is impossible, so every NASA mission to space  is faked.

Ah, yes ... modern day flat Earthers and geocentricists. Before 2008, I didn't even think such people existed. It's a sad shame that they do.

Hey, I love science and history as much as the next guy and I believe we should always be searching for the truth and these people are idiots, but I don't think it is a shame they exist.  For me that is going too far, they just believe something different then I do and I think it's stupid but in the end they are not hurting anyone, so I don't really care one way or another if they exist.

There are other groups out there that really hurt people, I would rather focus on being upset by them.

This exchange was the first to come to my mind upon seeing that image:

Policeman: Panda Three to Control. I'm at the junction of Mallet Lane with Athenum Road. Nothing to report. Over.
Control (OC): Received, Panda Three. Your message timed at ten fifteen. Out.
(The stolen Whomobile whizzes by, followed closely by UNIT in Bessie, then the Doctor in a gyrocopter)
Policeman: Panda Three to control. I've just spotted a silver hovercraft being chased by an old crock at ninety miles an hour, and there's a little tiny helicopter after them both! I'm in pursuit. Over.
Control (OC): Thank you, Panda Three. Signal if you need assistance. (pause) What did you say??

That is one of the reasons I love the Jon Pertwee era as much as I do.

Okay so in The Sims 3 I killed one NPC by walling him up in my house.

Now I wanted to see what would happen if I did it to two or more Sims, you know putting them in the same room with only one chair and one bed and seeing what they would do when I locked them in there.  To my frustration for some reason now every time I wall up a sim they are just able to walk right through the walls and leave the house!  Where is the fun in that?!

I don't know if it is because I installed the generation expansion pack or what.  That doesn't make a whole lot of sense since when I killed that one Sim I had the Supernatural Expansion pack that came out later and all of the latest patches installed.

I really want to see what happens when you lock three sims that you don't control in a room together but for some reason I can't.

I know this is a minor problem but I really hate it when a game that otherwise gives you the freedom to play the way you want takes that freedom away and "cheats" to keep you from playing a way the makers don't want you to.

That is what I call frustrating.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS_eUdapHfs

That's what I did before but now the game is just letting the NPCs walk right through the walls and out of my house and I have no idea why.

I hate it when games change the rules when I am in the middle of playing.

I am trying to have an evil Sim here and the game will not let me!

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

My mom is raising a sink if I watch movies and Tv shows on my widescreen TV that I bought for the family back when I had a job, in any other setting then squeezing the widescreen picture into a 4:3 frame.  She keeps saying that you can't see actor's faces in widescreen and she takes it as a personal insult when I say that the faces look long and don't look right with that setting because it's "what works for her" and that even when I am the one who put a movie in and she just came into the living room "I have no right to force her to watch it in a way that doesn't work".

I really need a job and to move out.  I am looking and going through the programs but that can take over a year and I am really getting stressed out now.  What is more my mom is making me take her for walks every day and bugging me about every single little thing around the house and at my age it just feels too weird but again when I try to explain this to her she takes it as a personal attack.  i think it's because my dad is never around when she is because of his work and having dialisis for his kidneys, so she is using me as a stand in and at my age when i have never had a real girlfriend it just feels too weird.

There is nothing anyone can do about it and I am not saying it is hopeless or that I am going to kill myself or anything, I just have no one to vent to in person right now and I feel about ready to snap.

I think once I get out of here I will refuse to have anything to do with Woman for the rest of my life.  I am sorry but with the way my brain works and how I get easily stressed out the way even the littlest thing becomes a whole emotional mess and a fight to the death just doesn't work for me.  I really want to become a hermit who only has to worry about myself and my own problems.

Sorry for venting about problems no one can fix, but I just needed to let off some steam.  Thanks for letting me do that, it's a big help.
