No no $25 is great! We just need more people
Thank you AntcuFaalb!
It will be the same as the Alice in Wonderland print, we will wait till enough people to say they will donate, then you wait for a PM. ww12345 will be taking care of this part of it.
Thanks very much CSchmidlapp, i'll add you to the list in the first post.
Poita has been offered The Matrix 35mm print as most of you know by now, but the seller is only holding it for 1 week. It's going for $1000 which is a good chunk of money but with enough people donating we could make it happen and preserve this awesome film.
I don't see the movie studios ever putting out any other version but the one we see on blu-ray. Maybe a higher res scan but not the colors we first saw in theaters. So if you love this movie as much as i do and want the theatrical colors and contrast that's not dialed way up, then please help us reach our goal.
As was said by poita, 50 people at $20 each will get it done faster.
If not then what ever you can spare would be helpful.
We're now accepting and collecting the donations at this point in time.

Considering it's LD it looks pretty darn good. Again i wonder what a grain plate applied to this would look like? Question is what kind of grain should be used if you experimented?
So do we still not know what the 35mm print color is like?
Is there going to be enough people to pitch in on the cost of the print?
Also where was this print from, a movie theater or something else?
Yes Yes and most definitely!
So what condition is the film in or do you know?

OK, the following image is one of the worst in the entire HDTV cap. The macroblocking is terrible, but I believe it's significantly harder to see when softlight-overlaid with an accurate 35mm grain plate.

The 35mm grain plate used here was generated from real 35mm film stock. IMO, it's too coarse. I'm working on getting a finer one.
Nice job with the grain overlay, i like it.
That's alright, take your time.
Thanks AntcuFaalb
Nice sample clip, looks damn good to me.

There's a 10gb mpeg2 1080i
Yes, on the bay but nobody is seeding.
I wonder if this is the same thing that is on Usenet -- search for Matrix 1080i. It's 10 gb as well as says it's the open matte version w/ original color timing and Russian audio only.
I have that now. It looks great!
Could you put some screen shots up?
Damn, that sucks Matt
No i found it some where else but just checked and no seeds there either.

Anyone here remember the open matted (super35) transfer that was shown on HBO years and years ago when HBO first went High Def? I had it on DVHS for years and do not recall it being green.
It would seem that would be a great transfer to source video from.
So did you get rid of the DVHS?
There's a 10gb mpeg2 1080i
Yes
true it's AVC/x264, 1920x1080 (16:9), 13900kbps, 23,976fps
There's a 17gb hdtv version on RuTracker
I don't see any difference, still has a waxy look.
Yeah i noticed that as well, bring on the new sample file.
Might we see this on the spleen anytime soon?
Whoops I missed that part about the 2 DTS files.
I would love to see the JP BD get this color treatment. Would the laserdisc and dts cinema audio be included?
Hdclub has the 1080i50 but the total size is 7.87gb
