Classic Edition: The Empire Strikes Back by Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
I think when ROtJ comes, he'll do best with either Moth3r or Citizen's Jedi not Reinventing The Wheel.
RtW, although the same as Mother's, has been re-encoded, resized, color enhanced and then pulleddown to 29.97 fps.
Moth3r's is a more raw version of the same video with more lines of resolution. Much better for editing. OCP will need to re-encode those frames and probably apply a different color balance when he uses them.
It's just better to go to the source... assuming I even do a RtW RotJ. Between Classic Edition and Citizen, I'm not sure it's needed. Not to say it might not be done for completeness sake.

Idea: Preserving Episodes 1-3?
Time

Ok now I’m confused. According to TheDigitalBits.com:

One interesting note from the event: Producer Rick McCallum and ILM animation director Rob Coleman confirmed that Lucas has continued to digitally massage the other Star Wars films. Specifically, Coleman indicated that the puppet Yoda from Episode I has been replaced with a digital Yoda that matches the character as seen in Episodes II and III. The CG performance was specifically tailored to match to Frank Oz’s puppet performance. You’ll be pleased to know that Coleman also told me, in no uncertain terms, that Oz’s puppet work in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi will NEVER be replaced with CG. So you fans can rest easy. You’ll get to see the new changes on a future, as-yet-unscheduled box set release of the entire Star Wars saga on DVD and/or HD.

I don’t know how to feel about that. GL cannot leave a damn thing alone. I mean even the current DVD’s aren’t the theatrical version; should we be looking to recreate and preserve the Original Prequel Trilogy (OPT) before it’s gone for good?

Bootleg video with timecodes is on Pirate Bay.
And here is a subrip someone did. I had to clean it up some, but it should be fine. It'll have to be tweaked for a re-edited version of the film anyway (which would I suppose include the official DVD release): http://adventureclub.postrock.net/botw.srt

Info: Anyone Have The Fight Club Workprint? Or any workprints for that matter?
Time
What DOES the workprint of Fight Club actually have?
Btw, if your source is VHS save your money and use a SL DVD. Encode the video at 1/2 D1, you won't gain any quality using higher resolution because of your source, but you can save the bitrate to get the full film on a single layer.

Can I have a shorter cut of Jersey Girl?

Now how about that rave of a review for RESURRECTION that I know you have in side of you.

Um, I always did kinda like A4 (at least better than the theatrical cut of 3), but of course I'm pretty much a sucker for anything Joss Whedon writes.
Go watch it again and imagine some Firefly cast members in it and you'll like it much better.

Info Wanted: Harry Potter Question... any Edits with deleted scenes added?
Time
There's been a really high quality Xvid(divs?) version with english and italian audio floating on the ed2k network for a year or so now.

The only problem with all of these is they lack transitional elements (musical score and video).
If you ever saw the ABC TV version the deleted scenes flow better with the theatrical footage.

I just wish someone would get off their ass and do a pdtv capture of the TV broadcast. It's occasionally broadcast HDTV with 5.1 audio. I still say it's the most complete we'll ever see them. I just don't have the gear to do the capture myself.

The Special Edition Alien3 in the Quadrilogy set was put together to be as close to Fincher's original intent as possible without his actual participation in the reconstruction.

The upside is they finished all the sfx and it went from my least favorite in the series to possibly the top 2... Or at least pretty damn good (before the SE I believed Alien3 was unwatchable and almost didn't buy the boxset because of it). I was amazed how much better it came out.

I can't say that it's greedy. You have to expect that they'd sell significantly more of their movies if they were continuously available rather than the occasional "vault" thing.
Most people don't know when or if a film is going to be available (and won't care). They're more likely to buy what they see is available and not go digging for the vaulted titles on eBay and/or go nuts when they come out again (that's only a small percentage). I just think there some people there that haven't progressed from their old theatrical re-release cycle.

Translation: Old guys stuck to old ways, not greedy.

Aladdin edit: cool.
I hate when every damn group tries to make press by bitching about something Disney's done.

What was your source of the unedited audio? VHS has the lyric change but not the dialog change. The audio CD is pristine for a good source of the opening song too. And from what you're saying I suppose the video is the Platinum DVD release.
It's a really nice transfer, they may have made "improvements" to the detail of the animation/backgrounds so when it was IMAX-sized it wouldn't look bad. All Disney Platinums are suppose to be visually altered in this way, but I can't remember if Aladdin made it to IMAX theaters since the Platinum series is now being rushed out so they can finish the planned releases before hi-def dvd's come out.

Anyone want to pay forward this one?

Btw, is the Life of Brian the Criterion deleted scenes edited back into the Criterion transfer?

.: Citizen's NTSC DVD / PAL DVD / XviD project :. (Released)
Time
I was going to say the same thing as Laserman. After about 70-85% DVDShrink's on-the-fly compression is not nearly as good as a re-code with something like DVDRebuilder. There's a huge difference in quality at that point.

Instead of going for visual difference between your new SL and DL transfers try something like BitRate View. Get the average and peak q values of the elementary video streams (before authoring) for both the SL and DL encodes. That will give you a better reference as to the real difference between your two versions.

Laserdiscs, even PAL, are soft (up to 5mhz analog, thats like 544x576 digital resolution) and the q values end up quite low. That's why I re-coded Moth3r's to allow for PCM audio, there was minimal difference in quality if I had used a DD track and put the extra space towards the video.
