COAXIUM BEBOP (CB-style Solo Fanedit) (WIP)
Time

This certainly is on track with joining the ranks of Pulp Empire. You’ve nailed the feeling and I’m still wracking my brain over how well you isolated the dialogue. You’ve rebuilt the tracks in an expert manner and just nailed your aesthetic. I’m not really into the pulp thing, but this is super impressive and the freshest take on Solo yet! 😃

The Prequel Trilogy Revised - concept trailers released (WIP)
Time

Sorry, for not responding. My comments were mostly the first 39 seconds. The planet just feels a bit off. I think it’s a couple of things. The rotation of what looks like they might be clouds is contrary to the rotation of the planet itself. Not a super big issue, but the rotation and cloud movement just seem too fast for that scale. There’s also just a lot going on there. It’s impressive that you were able to put that in, but it just looks and feels a bit off right now due to speed and scale. What about slowing down the planet and cloud rotations?

Star Wars - Echo's der Vergangenheit (Echo's of the Past - a TROS Edit) (Released)

Pedantic point, and I only speak English, but shouldn’t it be “Echoes of the Past”?

I think google couldn’t translate the ’ in Echo’s so it retained it, or at least that’s what happened when I checked the translation. I just chalk it up the same as Spectre instead of Specte 😉 I caught these over at FE. The force ghost work is pretty stellar. It sounds like someone else might have done that work? Whoever did did a fantastic job!

No, is that a regular insult or a bad thing?

I don’t think it’s a regular insult, but being compared to him outside of places like YouTube and Reddit wouldn’t be something positive. Ivan all but snubbed the fanediting communities when he was questioned about his fanedit for profit model. We’re all very passionate about protecting our hobby/obsession.

Mostly people hating that I cut Klaud and made some scene changes they didn’t agree with.

Cutting Klaud is probably a good thing as he doesn’t really add any value to the story. He has less significance than a pit droid unfortunately.

Are you still using iMovie to make your edit?

The Dark Crystal: The Great Conjunction (Released)
Time

I always forget to post my other projects here. Here’s my latest.

FANEDIT INFORMATION

Brief Synopsis:
Long ago the Skeksis eradicated the Gelfling clans to preserve their dominion over the world of Thra. Now, a lone Gelfling, Jen, must fulfill an ancient prophesy to heal the Crystal of Power and restore order to his world.

Intention:
To create a Netflix style presentation of The Dark Crystal presented in a two part finale as a companion to the recent Age of Resistance.

Other Sources:
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Soundtrack
The Dark Crystal – Overture | Epic Version by L’Orchestra Cinématique
Various free stock footage video
Fan produced Dark Crystal Art and Posters

Special Thanks:
Anyone reading this 🙂

Editing Details:
This edit is pretty straightforward: Create a two episode finale to the Dark Crystal story using the Netflix presentation Creation of a Netflix style FE logo intro and original series yellow text to match Age of Resistance. Color correction to attempt to match the color of Age of Resistance. Sharpness to make the dated footage look a little more crisp. Creation of closing credits to mirror Age of Resistance.

Cuts and Additions:
-Custom Intro
-Color corrected entire movie and added a slight sharpening to the image
-Removed The Dark Crystal Logo
-Adjusted/masked and/or trimmed some of the ritual of the sun to help eliminate opening credits
-Added AoR music to opening scene
-Adjusted the emperor’s voice to match his AoR voice more closely (I’m assuming it’s the same Skeksis)
-Added dreamfast vfx
-Created custom credits to match AoR presentation
-Added The Dark Crystal Epic Theme by L’Orchestra Cinématique to ending credits

Unusual <strong>Sequel Trilogy</strong> Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

My idea is to treat the sequel trilogy like a Star Wars Infinitities story. The idea would be that the Rebellion failed at Endor, Palpatine never died, Luke either dies on the Death Star or on Crait, Rey is the other hope Yoda refers to, Darth Vader learns how to transfer his life force into Kylo Ren and seeks to overpower Palpatine, etc.

The presentation would be slightly different and along the lines of the opening scenes of TROS but with Blue text a la Solo to describe the new history leading up to the infinity story. I’m still fleshing out in my mind of how it could all work, but I’ve realized after TROS that I don’t believe I can fix or create continuity with the OT, nor do I have the desire to.

I wish JJ would have utilized the force realm Ezra found in rebels and retconed the entire saga a la Donnie Darko or the Kevin timeline of Star Trek. This approach is as close as I can get and accept what we’ve received. Hopefully I can find a way to pull it off.

To be fair, there is only so much you can do.

Yes, but if that is the case you might want to ask if you can pull it off or if it is even needed. I’m always wary of the “to be fair” defenses when a shot can’t be pulled off. I tried to do a force vision reusing footage and many in the community let me know it didn’t hold up, so I eventually axed it because I didn’t have the skills to pull it off at that time. One problem I have with the prequels is that they show way too much and over explain themselves. I’d have to agree that the current scenes are noticeable at the moment and I view it as a workprint/proof of concept. Hope you can pull it off.

Looking forward to a V2. I’m not sure what your source is, perhaps the BluRay or iTunes version or something, but I encourage exporting at the maximum settings that make any sort of sense, if you haven’t already.

I’m planning to tweak your edit just slightly by restoring the original opening style and the “we’ll have you flying in no time” gag, just for personal, non-shared enjoyment.

Thanks for the response Hal! V2 is done and available through the usual chain. The source is the Blu Ray but I usually encode it at ~16mbps which makes the file around 15gb in size. I tried a 25gb file for RotR, but had issues with DVD architect messing up the audio (it can’t make a disc with 5.1 for some reason…) and I’ve been shy of requiring such a big download file after the issue. I suppose I shouldn’t as the file could have easily been demuxed and then muxed with the corrected audio file. Ha, I should just do that *face palm. Anyway, I’ve got a few projects I’m working on and life is running full board right now, but I’ll see if I can get a larger render going during the Christmas holiday season when I have a bit more time and set up a larger render for the spleen.

Feel free to use the file as a base for any project. You always do amazing work and I’d be honored to have any bit of influence on your edits. Thanks for reaching out! 😃

Hi all, new to this forum of fan edits and would love to join the production of improving various films and trilogies!
Time

Welcome to the obsession that is fanediting. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to research various editing software to see what aligns with your budget and editing requirements. There are free software options that can produce fairly straightforward edits along with industry grade (and priced) options for those that dabble into the realms of vfx and want to drastically alter films.

There are a few different communities with some fantastic examples of fanedits and editors; here, the other you mentioned as well as fanedit.org. Glean all you can and then jump in and get wet with the process.

“You’ve taken your first step into a larger world.” 😃

Thank you Hal!

I’ll be releasing a v2 of this edit that addresses a stutter as the Falcon takes off, adjusts the starfield movement during the transition scene to Mimban and adds an explosion to when the first uncoupled train cars hit the floor of the ravine. Here’s the fixed Falcon takeoff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPxViUwSwB8
I’ll post again when the file is available. I’ll also update the spleen.

The Starlight Project Part 2: The Last Jedi (WIP)

NeverarGreat said:

What is your reasoning for not using the trailer shot? Is it the different starfield compared to that in TLJ?

It was more a draft for the concept back then. The starfield and crawl were custom made and the hyperspace effect was a green screen effect I chroma keyed. I hadn’t thought of using that shot from the trailer/movie. I’d prefer to create a new shot as to not reuse a shot that’s already been shown, but the transition in that shot is much nicer than the draft I created.

Putting this here so I don’t forget it:

Concept: pan down from the crawl onto a starfield which matches this shot of the Falcon going to hyperspace. Proceed directly into Rey landing on Ahch-To.

I had the same idea. Here was my mockup (transition happens around 2:20) I like that it’s a fresh intro style that’s still Star Warsy.
