Info Wanted: Are there VHS Transfers to DVD of the Original Trilogy here?

the version of Star Wars I fell in love with (…) was the fullscreen, pan and scan Faces VHS set.

Ten years ago dark_jedi captured that set, and segaflip posted them on usenet before the retention wars.
They were re-posted five years ago, and are still indexed @nzbking.com

someone has remuxed the 7.87GB AVCHD / ISO file into a 7.42GB MKV.

Just being nit-picky, the ISO file is 8.46GB which is 7.87GiB (rounded down)
.
Fuckwits abound. Only hydrogen is more plentiful. [FZ]
I shall post the ISO file, which is really a UDF image, to usenet in the next day or two…
(The full-size BDMV folder is already there, if your news provider has great retention.)

The real spot was from where it cuts from Owen and Beru in the kitchen to Luke and C-3PO in the speeder and my older copy of the JSC has 4 extra frames in there.

I’ve IVTC’ed four JSC:
segaflip’s (captured by dark_jedi), Arnie.d’s X9 cap, althor1138’s HF9G cap, and my own LD.
None of those had extra frames than GOUT …

nor poita’s Super8, nor mverta’s color ref.

On the other hand there must be tons of prints, as poita said, and tonnes of JSC which I HAVEN’T analyzed.

NSP/JSC Trilogy - Althor's 5-AVG (with NSP Clean Up) + Schorman's GOUT Synched LD

I don’t see any black frames, nor any duplicates.
Did you need to slice-and-dice the soundtrack? Shrink-to-fit?
AviSynth+FFVideoSource() warns the frame rate is NOT 24000/1001,
yet MPlayer calls it 23.976-- not sure what that’s about
.
My eyes aren’t trained to spot noise/reduction,
so I can’t comment on that aspect.

***The Official RowMan*** Release Thread
Time

The torrent’s piece length is 4096KiB.
If we call the first piece 0, then piece 913 comprise
last 58KiB of VTS_05_1.VOB plus first 4038KiB of VTS_01_1.VOB.idx.
That’s the missing piece.
Rest of .idx file is in piece 914, which you have.
I believe benduwan has the .idx file, else you wouldn’t have 914.

I suspect the .idx file was created by Avidemux.
If so, then it would contain a folder name of the person who wrote it.
That folder won’t be easy to guess.
The .idx file is ASCII text, with very long lines.
Microsoft Notepad might not open it, but WordPad should do.
If benduwan could copy/paste the first three lines here . . .

These are already uploaded to usenet albeit a long time ago. A good usenet provider like usenetserver will download them with no problem at all though.
A long time ago . . . Yes.
segaflip posted them in August 2005 . . . before the retention wars.
I doubt usenetserver is that good.

If you think they were reposted more recently, then tell us when.
Give us a search string we can use at binsearch, nzbindex, etc.

Huh. I looked at the script and it seems I resized it to 860x720 before adding borders and it probably should have been 960x720.
That nominal analog blanking shit always confused me,
but I would've thought 704 --> 960
or 720 --> 982-ish if you like to keep the overscan.

Don't get discouraged! You can worry about that some other day...
