Harry Potter Special Extended Editions (a WIP)
Time

Hey all! So, I recently took a vacation with my family to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Florida, and needless to say it got me way back into the Harry Potter spirit and I got the idea for these edits.

Basically these will be edits along the lines of Adywan’s Revisited edits of Star Wars, though maybe not as extreme. The idea is to create a more seamless continuity between the films, because as it is, the transition between films is pretty jarring in terms of visual style. I am not wanting to create completely different films. I am not cutting the films down to be “better”, but rather matching the visual styles and eliminating any major continuity errors between films.

Here is my list of goals so far. Please put forth any ideas of your own that may help:

 • Replace wands in Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets to match later films.

-color correct all movies to match visually (eliminating the crazy blue and green color grades of the later 4 films)

-Re-insert deleted scenes, provided they don’t create continuity errors.

-Insert occasional John Williams music into GOF, OOTP, HBP, and DH

-Matching end credits for ALL movies.

-(possibly) Matching opening titles? (not sure on that one. I’d like to hear what everyone thinks of it.)

-Emphasize and better show importance of the Deathly Hallows in last 2 films.

-Pensieve sequence in Goblet of Fire match pensieve sequences in later films

-Pitch down Griphook the goblin’s voice in Philosopher’s Stone (“lamp please”) to more closely resemble Deathly Hallows Griphook

I didn’t want to make a thread about this until I had some test clips ready, but I got excited and couldn’t wait. =) Again, any ideas/imput is welcome.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I like the idea of having Yoda mentioned often, but never seen. (Could be difficult with the material available but a nice thought nonetheless). It adds an air of mystery to the character that when he does finally appear in ESB it is an even bigger reveal than it was before.

Also, I think it would be beneficial so this thread is not further delayed for Ady to possibly start a "Revisited Prequel Ideas Thread" of some kind.

VIDEO_TS on a Mac
Time

This may be a topic discussed a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away), but I have remarkably never had to deal with it. I know for PCs there is IMGBurn and the like, but I am on a mac and have been trying deperately to burn a roughly 8GB VIDEO_TS folder to DVD. I tried using disk utility to convert to to dvd/cd master and then burn it, but the file came out to be over 9GB which I cannot burn on my DL DVD. Anybody know what to do?

I made these for my collection of Despecialized discs. I based them off a couple of designs from this thread and the DVD one. I can't remember the names of the contributors, so if anyone remembers please let me know and I will give them the recognition they deserve.

I went with a minimalist approach and incorporated the Ralph McQuarrie concept art because I really didn't want to use any stills from the films. I took the one sentence summaries from part of my DVD summaries.

*EDIT* Recognition goes to chyron8472, michaeldc, and EyeShotFirst.

Can I ask what font you used on the spine and back? I really like it.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

Even before the Disney merger there were diferent LEVELS of canon. If something happens in one canon that contradicts another, the higher canon supersedes the lower level canon. It has always been that something in the expanded universe (say a comic) can be considered canon unless/until something in the movies contradicted it, in which case the films (being a higher level of canon) supersedes the EU content. They rank as follows.

G Canon - This would include the films I-III, IV-VI, and VII-IX.

T Canon - Television shows such as The Clone Wars and Rebels

C Canon - EU elements such as comic books and video games that have not been contradicted by a higher canon.

S Canon - Also EU, but has been contradicted by a higher canon. Some elements of these stories which have not been contradicted may still be considered a part of the SW universe.

N Canon - Any material that is directly contradicted by higher canons. This would include things like "what if" stories.

I believe this ranking of canon was scrapped with the Lucasfilm/Disney deal, however I see no reason why it should not still be a viable way to determine canon and I will continue to use it. It's nice in that you can still use the EU where it isn't contradicting the movies, and where it does, you can simply say that story exists in a parallel universe. =P

I have a theory. Everybody is talking about the hooded figure speculating he may be an ancient warrior of some kind. What if this character turns out to be Darth Plagueis? He actually DID manage to save himself from death and has been in some form of hibernation for years and years. The shot from the trailer is him waking up and igniting his lightsaber ready to kick some ass. The force awakens. As in the ultimate user of the force awakens. Huh? Huh???

I know it's dumb but I love speculation like this ^-^

I'd prefer someone more ancient than Plagueis. How about Darth Bane, the founder of the Sith, or a being from before the founding of the Sith?

Well, given the EU being non-canon, we really don't know the specifics of how "ancient" Plagueis is. All we know about him is what Palpatine said about him in Ep.3. It's implied that he was Palpatine's master but that could be false in this canon. Palpatine describes him as "an old Sith legend".

But I like the idea that he could be even more powerful than Palpatine ever was. So much so that he was able to deceive Palpatine in believing him to be dead while he waited for the perfect moment to rise up. It's something that could be extremely cool if it was done well and would actually give the prequels SOME kind of purpose in this saga besides pointlessly setting up the OT and pissing off alot of fans.

Lookin’ good. My only problem is the IV: A New Hope title for Star Wars.

I know. I debated not having it, but the plan is to use this to make discs for all the special editions as well and create a box set with all the versions, so while it doesn’t make sense for the theatrical release by itself, I think it will look nice as part of the set.
