I will be going with Harmy’s despecialized and respecialized.
I will be going with Harmy’s despecialized and respecialized.
While I haven’t begun the other films yet, the covers for each of those films will be in this same design, but each film will have a different color. ANH obviously has a blue cover, ESB (undetermined), ROTJ will be green, TPM will be yellow/gold, AOTC (undetermined), and ROTS will be red. ESB and AOTC I haven’t decided for yet.

Here is an update on the cover. I think this is the final design I’m going to go with. Any input? I added an extra disc for the 2011 version.
It really isn’t the length that’s the problem, it’s the redundant repeating of information. The problems with the GOUT are mentioned twice and it’s not really necessary. That’s what makes it feel long to you.
To me, what sums up Episode II is “Best story, worst execution”
I certainly didn’t expect that response.
No one expects the brief polite response!!
Or the Spanish Inquisition
I’m not entirely sure but I think Ady has said that the EU/new canon will have no bearing on Revisited, so if his plan was to make all TIEs uniformly blue, he’s most likely gonna stick to that, but take my opinion with a grain of salt, I’d still wait for Ady to make a definitive statement on that.
Where is the link to download?
If you can’t take one minute to read the first post of the thread, then you clearly don’t deserve the project now, do you?
Seriously if you just joined the forum to get a download link and have nothing to contribute, then please leave. I mean, it’s bad enough you couldn’t take a couple minutes of searching to figure out how to get it on your own (I mean seriously, I just looked by googling “harmy despecialized torrent” and found it within seconds) but then you feel entitled enough to very rudely ask where “the link to download” is.
Yeah. As I’ve begun to find out. Haha. I thought it would be a simple thing to recreate but I’m finding it may take a lot longer than I thought.
Yeah. I believe the 81 star field was from empire correct?
Harmy has been kind enough to supply a recreation of the '81 crawl that he did some time ago. This saves me the trouble of having to recreate it myself, however I still have to integrate it into a recreated '81 star destroyer flyover, so that’s what I will be working on for the next couple days. After that is finished, I can integrate that into the BD, create chapter markers and then Disc one will be complete.
Oh wow I didn’t know about that. Thank you, I’ll shot him a PM and see if he’d be willing, not that it would be particularly difficult otherwise, but certainly easier if it’s already been done haha.
For now it is. I may have either the star field or planet move slowly, or possibly have some clips or screenshots from the movie playing in the empty area of space at the right side of the screen, but I personally like menus kept relatively simple.
Is the timing of the SW logo the only timing difference between '81 and '97? Or is the crawl itself differently timed?
I have put this project on the back-burner long ago, but certainly offer your suggestion. It helps me if/when I return to/revisit this project and it helps anybody else who may be working on rewrites.
I am wanting to recreate the 1981 crawl for my Blu-Ray Set project I’m working on. From what I am seeing, the actual text and formatting of the '81 crawl are pretty much identical to the '97 crawl, while the star wars logo is pretty much the same in '81 as it was originally in '77. Am I correct or am I missing something? These observations are based on simply viewing one right after the other, so it’s possible I am way off base here.
Are there any other significant changes such as the speed of the crawl itself?

Here is the rough menu. When you press “play”, a new menu will appear where you will specify either “Theatrical Edition (1977)” or “Re-Release Edition (1981)” on disc 1 and either “Special Edition (1997)” or “Special Edition Redux (2004)” for disc 2.
I’ve been working on authoring the discs for ANH as well as recreating the '81 crawl to splice into the film for disc 1. I will post the menu design soon to see what you all think.
While theoretically this could be done, it would take a tremendous amount of work and no shortage of skill to make convincing. To me, the visual poetry (“you know, it rhymes”) that this would emphasize would go over most people’s heads and even though it’s a fun idea, I don’t think the amount of work involved is worth it, personally. I think it’s more important to draw parallels emotionally through what the characters do, more than how they look.
I can’t see why no fan edits change the music.
Because it is out of this world difficult to do seamlessly in most cases. Difficult in scenes with no dialogue because is involves rebuilding the entire soundtrack including sound effects. Nearly impossible in scenes with dialogue because the music overlaps onto all of the audio channels containing the dialogue and sound fx.
Here’s an update on the cover art. Sorry it’s just a link. I’m still figuring out the new site.

I decided to forego the completely custom cover art in favor of a slightly modified Struzan. I also decided to drop the 2011 version of the film. The logic behind it being that it allows for a consistent two versions per disc, and most people already own the 2011 editions on bluray (in fact, all people who eventually download this should own the official blurays).
Anyways, let me know your opinions on the cover art. Still not 100% on it, but it’s almost there I think.

It is looking good so far, I am laid up in bed, with a bit more time than usual to converse on forums :)
Rest easy, son. You've had a busy day.
Well allow me to play Devils advocate and say I LOVED the trailer. To me it felt like the right balance between old and new. It's not gonna be just like the original trilogy and I think a lot of people here need to accept that. All I'm hoping for is that it's a good story with good characters in an environment that feels like the same universe 30 years later. It doesn't have to be the exavt movie I wanted and personally would have made in order for me to enjoy it. If it's at least good and enjoyable, I'll be happy. There's this weird stigma people have now where it has to be better than the last great thing that came out otherwise it sucks. Guys, even if it's not as good as Empire (which it probably won't be), that doesn't mean it isn't good. I'm incredibly hopeful and everything I've seen out of this has just made me more and more excited.
All this being said, everything about TPM seemed great before it came out. If TFA sucks, I'll be the first to admit it.
Something I would love is if Disney decided to do some kind of Criterion style box set of the life's work of Walt Disney which included films like Song of the South where the general population may not have a huge interest in it, but it would be huge for collectors and film buffs.
What would be interesting is if a team could be organized to render the film. Each team member would be responsible for rendering a certain portion of the film and once everyone is done, compile it all together.
