BFI: OT & TFA open air screenings in UK this August
Time

Hmmm… still no clearer which versions?

[BFI said:]

Fans of George Lucas’s cinematic classics will be offered the chance to be the first to see the remastered, original Star Wars films under the stars on a giant screen with state of the art sound and visuals, set against the incredible backdrops of Hampton Court Palace and Hatfield House, Hertfordshire. Launching on the 3 August at Hampton Court, the iconic films will be screened in order, one per evening for three nights, followed on Saturday 6 August by a special family day, giving younger fans the chance to take part in special Jedi master classes. Under the watchful eye of the Jedi Master and a Jedi Knight, young Padawans will don Jedi robes, learn the ways of the Force and discover how to master a lightsaber, before a screening of Star Wars: A New Hope.

Kinda disappointing that there was no #Chewscript post on May 4th.

I’m wondering now if that ‘special announcement’ thing is just “i’m playing Chewie in the Han Solo movie”?

Which to fair to Peter, actually is a big announcement for him and the character…

That is a fair point 😃

Nice to see all the Wookiee love on his birthday - and a case o’ Skywalker Wine:

No further #Chewscript tweets as yet though…

Nice detective work. I’m thinking Mayhew’s on both Episode VIII - and maybe a new documentary to tie-in with the '77 anniversary? I dunno why but his use of “special assignment” on his site suggests that to me. In my wildest dreams, such a documentary is purpose-built for an official OUT release…

Does it depress you...

Tootsie aside, Star Wars is kind of dead to me nowadays. I mean, I'm interested in what the fan archivists/restorers are up to (which keeps me coming back to this forum) but when i visited the official maythe4th website i just closed the window, didn't even wait for the video to load. I'm sick of LFL's self-aggrandizing bullshit, which results in this:

...over this:

PRIORITIES?

To paraphrase an earlier post, it's not about the films anymore, it's just bu$ine$$ (and i guess has been that way for quite some time).

But there is a bright side, all those dollar$ i would've spent on the Blu-rays? They'll buy a helluva lot of mosquito nets for people in REAL need.

Laters.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

the Yahoo! UK homepage, tonight:

One fan tweeted "wait...so the big Star Wars announcement was that its coming out on Blu Ray? That was announced in January. @StarWars you have failed me", another said " 'Again, us loyal fans have been cheated with another release of digitally "enhanced" nonsense. Boycott this item and demand the original theatrical versions on Blu-Ray!!'"

Back in the very early days of prequel hype, I subscribed to the Homing Beacon that was/is sent out by the official site: starwars.com

Subscribing to the Homing Beacon seemed to always get one e-mail updates to all things Star Wars. I didn't have a Homing Beacon in my inbox today, but I did have this...

i got that too. smiled nostalgically for a few moments. then remembered LFL is again using iconic OOT imagery to hawk yet another boxset that won't contain the OOT. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

may the BARF! be with you. and with you, alway$.
