Story Time!

Wow, Sean...

That is almost identical to how it was with me and Erika. 'Cept we were both freshmen. And she graduated early and went to college. Anyway... Yeah, she couldn't care less about me, but I still intend to wish her a happy birthday...

This Saturday... Curses! I am so pathetic.

any Milla Jovovich fans here?

*cleans up Greencapts drule with a DeathStar mouse droid*

I suppose you could call me a fan of her amazing beauty, and I really thought she was great in Fifth Element... but I think her acting career is in a bit of a rut. Maybe she can do more than what she does in RE, RE:A, Ultraviolet, but she wont' until she starts actually playing things less generic.

And I had never heard that she sang.

Your point about Alexander is akin to the "I had a rough childhood your honor and THAT's why I killed all 15 of those people!". Please, oh please.

You know, about five minutes after posting that earlier, I realized I'd left out something important.

I'm NOT defending Alex Luthor's actions at all! I'm simply saying I understand WHY he would want to act. He's just going about it in a way that would shame Lex himself. I'm fully looking forward to Dick and Conner kicking his butt next issue.

Jesus Cartoon controversy

What a bunch of idiots.

Makes you angry, I'm sure. But do you plan to riot or kill anyone over it? Yes, that was rhetorical. I

It's hard to make a poltical statement when you've done nothing but attempt to shock people.

The Things We Hate And Love Thread .
Time
The stupidest part of this article.

Children under age 8 are cognitively unable to distinguish between real and fantasy violence, Micheal Rich said.

You. Must. Be. Kidding. Me. If you are 8 years old--HALF WAY OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE--and cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality, then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with you.

As for Titans being declared the "most violent" show, then I'll give them this: if you measure this number by the amount of time fights or violent acts are happening on screen, then I'd say Titans IS the most violent show. In most episodes the fights start early and last most of the 22 minutes.

BUT, if you are talking about graphic violence, then Titans is one of the LEAST violent shows. There has been a grand total of ONE episode (Haunted, season three) to show signficant wounds. Even after Slade Wilson beat the living snot out of Terra in Aftershock Part 2, the worst was her outfit was torn up a bit.

Well, can you really blame Alex for his actions? He was born on a dying world, then rapidly aged by the Monitor to save the universe...

And for what? He percieves himself as morally untouchable because he never HAD to grow up and learn, never had to question anything. He was essentially bred to save a universe that went and screwed itself over with darkness, and he never really had a choice in the matter.

On the other hand, I figure they might explain the darkness of the universe itself as a result of the "perfection" of the little Paradise Alex built. I wonder how he would react to learning that all the bad things that have happened to the universe are HIS fault.

(Superboy Prime, on the other hand, has no excuse. He was raised by the Kents on Earth Prime for the first 16 or so years of his life. He is actually older than Alex Luthor, physically at least. Emotionally, yeah, he's about two. And I hate him.)

Violence in Video games a fad?
Time
It's not violence in general that is the 'fad'... it's these acursed "Gangsta" games.

A bunch of idiot companies thought they could cash in on the success of San Andreas by making crapy gangsta games. Well, GUESS AGAIN, STUPID! San Andreas sold because it was FUN, because it had a HUGE, HUGE world to explore and because it was labeled Grand Theft Auto. It's not the "gritty" urban theme, people. That is just a THEME for the story, not the appeal of the game. [/mini-rant]

There's a difference between support and approval, though.

And Warb's right. Take away the gay, and BM is just another "true love causes adultery" movie, and it's hype is almost entirely based on its "daring" and political "bravery"... Bleh. Give me the Fifth Element over most "Best Picture" winners any day.

Powerful movies

Well, Don't quote me on this, but I think they essentially gave him just one flat layer polygon, just 2 dimensions, and then pasted sprites of animation onto that polygon like they would a texture. At least that's how I assume they did it, because you can pause it and turn the camera to where you're looking directly at his edge, and he dissapears completely.

That means they would have had to insert a whole nother set of animations for EVERY one of the characters attacks because Game and Watch was built with sprites instead of polygons. Which probably would have been worth it, but also probably didn't even cross Nintendo's minds.

As for the game, I'm simply stoked out of my mind that it's gonna be online. I can Smash people in EUROPE! Yippie-Kai-Yay!
