Alan Moore will not allow his name to associated with any future filmed adaptaitons of his work, and does not want his work to be filmed in the first place.

Well, 'For The Man Who Has Everything' was already adapted as an episode of Justice League Unlimted, but that's besides the point. Just calling the child Van-El wouldn't be adapting Moore's work since the original Van-El was just a fantasy in Clark's mind. But it's probably the Kryptonian name he would have actually given his child had he been real. If Moore didn't want his name on it, then whatever.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

I think if Nintendo would quit trying to reinvent the franchise and just give us essentially Star Fox 64 with new levels and better graphics, the series could be great.

But no, they keep trying to innovate, first with the Zelda-esque StarFox Advetures, then with Star Fox Assault, which had ATROCIOUS controls outside the Arwing.

And now on the DS, they take what oculd have been a great idea and dumb it down by making it way too easy and repetitive. It makes no sense to me at all. (It also makes no sense why they didn't use voice over for Starfox DS, considering that the DS cards have four times the capacity of the average N64 cartridge.)

Well, TNG's main characters weren't allowed to have flaws like the TOS characters had, with perhaps the exception of the short-lived Dr. Polawski's racism against Data. That must have been difficult on the writers in and of itself. (Picard, of course, had that whole Borg-hate thing going on in First Contact, but it was also resolved in that same movie.)

I think they should do a series/episode/movie or something that reveals that the veniere of utopia in the Federation isn't as legitimate as they'd have you believe, sparking some kind of civil war that ultimately makes the Federation stronger in the long run.

I mean I understand having a certain dissatisfaction with aspects of the movie... it just seems like you're extremely harsh on it. I agree that tying it to the old films hurt it, but I think it was still a good movie. If I were doing the film... well, lets see...

-Get rid of the direct Donner refferences. No crystals, no Marlin Brando cameo, and create original opening credits/music.
-Lois should have been played by someone older. So should Clark.
-Lex Luthor should NEVER be played as a goof ball. No yodelling "kryptonite". Play him like Clancy Brown does.
-Luthor's motivations, as I understand it, are to save the world from the 'threat' of Superman, and he believes only he can do it. Killing off the entire Western Hemisphere was over the top.
-Metropolis is NOT in New York. Last time DC specified a state, that state was Delaware. Reguardless, having two world class cities in edition to all the other urbanization in and around the NYC area is silly and not pratctical.
-Clark should have given his kid the Kryptonian name Van-El, and Alan Moore given props for it.
-MAKE A SUPERMAN-CALIBER FIGHT! Wasn't Metallo supposed to be in the movie? He's in the game based on the movie. This ties into Luthor's plot as depicted being over the top.
-Luthor is a supposedly class-twelve intelect, and yet he didn't even consider that Kryptonite gives humans cancer with prolonged exposure?

General Batman Talk

I think the Joker should be approximately ten years older than Batman, give or take. Hence, Batman in 'TDK' will probably be in his early thirties*, so Joker should be in his early forties.

*He had graduated college, meaning that he was probably 22 when Joe Chill was murdered, then he vanished for seven years before Ducard found him. It never mentioned how old he was despite his birthday being depicted in the film.

They are also getting too old IMO. The last episode of TNG made a point of showing that Data does not age, yet Brent Spiner continues to develop wrinkles, etc - although that's a moot point because they killed Data in Nemesis.

Not really. As if the movie weren't enough of a Khan ripoff already, they pulled a Spock/Bones with Data/B4. They could bring him back if they wanted to.

TOS cast members were making ST movies into their sixties, so I wouldn't mind another adventure with Picard and Co. They could probably work the same CG magic on Spiner that they did with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan in X3 for their younger days, although doing that throughout a whole film for one character might be prohibitively expensive.

Also, fuck Berman and what he's done to Gene Roddenberry's vision.

Well, all things considered, Gene Roddenbury's vision was a bit naive to begin with, but I agree that Berman is far worse.

I think if The Next Generation crew has any more adventures they'll be in a medium other than live action.
