Why is it stupid?

I've been gone from this thread for a while. Far too long.

Well, I can't say for sure. They certainly are evil. I suppose it is because they hate us--for several reasons.

One, we helped Israel become a nation again, and we continue to support them as an ally.
Also, we are free. They seem to hate that. And even though America has become mind-numbingly secularist, They still percieve us as a Christian Nation.

I guess the main reason they hate us is that we are not an Islamic Despotic Theocracy.

Why do you think Bush LIED about the weapons's of mass destruction. I seriously doubt he purposely and knowingly said things he knew weren't true to justify a war. It was a mistake. Or, possibly, the weapon's were removed from Iraq before the war.

It is frustraiting for me when people say Bush lied. You can't possibly know that he didn't believe there were WMDs in Iraq. I'm sure he thought they were there or he wouldn't have gone to war there. But he did, and we did go, and now we have to deal with it.

Even if there aren't any WMDs there, it is obvious Iraq wanted them and that the government hated America and wanted to kill us. And I don't understand what is wrong with freeing the Iraqi people. But that is just me. I must be a horrible person for caring that the Baath Party was murdering people to make an example.

As for Ric,-- you really need to stop being such a pacifist. Jimbo is right (another thing I never thought I would say.) War is sometimes the only way to fix things. And if you remember correctly, Hitler *did* come to power during peace-time.

Wow. This year's E3 news has blown away my wildest expectation.
The Nintendo DS is more powerful than an N64!!

And check this out. The NEW Gamecube Zelda

Can anybody say "The Two Towers" ??

Can anyone say "Fellowship of the Ring" ??

Mario 64 Portable!! Super Mario Sixty-Four-by-Four! It has multiplayer!

This looks suspiciously like the Bob-omb Battlefield

Can any body say "sequal to the best game of 2001!" ??

That is it for now. I think of the three E3's that I have payed attention to, this is by far the best.

Dude.. did you have to describe the beheading? And seriously.. who would download that?

.. I never thought I would say this, but I think Jimbo is right.. sort of.

I mean it isn't like he said "Kill all Muslims"... or all "Arabs" he specifically said "terrorists"
And that is what this war is about. They attacked us four* times before we did anything, and I think it is justifed that we blow the crap out of them.

I think it is sort of dumb to take any of these "world will end" disaster theories seriously. It just a stupid waste of time. Most of the people who come up with "global cooling', Y2K and "global warming"--all this world-wide disaster nonsense--are just looking for attention that they can't get in a legitimate way.

They need to get off the mediocrity pills (like me.)

Are you seriously looking to a movie like Dogma for spiritual anwers or something? LOL.

God wants to be our God. He wants us to "Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly" with Him.

God is not some benign blob floating out in space.

Strangely enough I can imagine that there are probably millions of people, not in the Western world, that agree with that statement!

Not suggesting that there wasn't inter-tribe warfare, just don't think it was on quite the same scale as the white settlers attacks

"And yes, they do teach all of WWII in History. I wrote a report on WWII in the... er.. sixth grade I believe. Or maybe fourth...
And watching Pearl Harbor (it's been a while, Christmas Eve 2000, I think) never gave me the impression they were suggesting PH started the War."

Ok thanks for answering that one, as I stated in my post I was merely curious as to how WW2 was taught, not attacking you in any way, go back & re-read my post, as a non-American, who had relatives that died in WW2, one is curious as to how you lot over the pond are taught. I also stated that I DO REALISE it's just a movie & wanted to make sure that it was just instances of movie glorification and not subtle "correctings of history".

I am in no way insulting you or suggesting that what you state is right or wrong, I was merely offering some other instances of acts of genocide that appear to have been "brushed under the carpet" so to speak. I personally feel it is important that these acts of genocide, as well as the mass slaughter in WW2, even WW1, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. Do we really want to repeat past events?

Just a couple more examples of genocide:

The eradication of the Aborigines in Australia (damn those pesky white men, they are so evil ), the atrocities commited by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in 1975. In more recent memory there has been the acts of genocide commited against the Kurds in Kosova!

Chaltab, don't take my comments personally, they are not personal attacks, if they were I'm sure you'd notice I'm almost playing Devil's Advocate with ya!

Regarding your comment above about white men being the evil of the world, well IMHO the white man, past & present, does have a lot to answer for, don't you think? By forgetting these events, because as you say, we are nothing to do with it, do you not think that we are blinding ourselves? Surely it is a great dishonour to simply forget these past crimes? Does it not bother you in the slightest that your distant anscestors were capable of such heinous acts? I know theres nothing we can do about it now, that's not the point, the point is that we can be best served by remembering past terrors and ensuring that OUR descendants don't repeat past mistakes.

Yes, it bothers me very much that they did what they did. But the individuals responsible are to blame, are they not? Can we blame all blacks for OJ Simpson killing his wife? Can we blame all Asians for the crimes of Kim Jong? Of course not. I find it offensive that many (and I am not saying you are doing this) try and take the crimes of certain individuals and blame them on a race or culture. That is what I want to avoid, and I hope you understand where I am coming from. There is an attempt by some in our "educational facilities" here in the USA to revise history and/or discredit America as a nation by pointing out atrocites like the fact that certain people massacred Indians. As if my generation is responsible for those deeds. I hope we can agree that modern Americans aren't responsible for those things.

OK. Sifo. Jesus is reffered to as "Lord" (which means boss, or master) 11 times as much as Saviour. "He is nobody's boss" is the opposite of the truth. He is Lord of all.

I wasn't reffring to any form of organized religion, either, and, yes, the modern Church is very different than the early church. And don't even get me started on the Catholic Church. But that isn't what I meant. I was reffering to Jesus personally being my Lord.

Thout shalt not Kill. That means You shall not murder. The ancient Hebrew word translated "kill" in the KJV means murder. You know that. Come on. God commanded the Isrealites to fight wars and kill people. God wouldn't tell people to violate His commands. So, please quit being ridiculous.
