Any chance of some screenshots?

Sure, here you go!  As I said...a bit rough, but totally watchable.

On the plus side, mitch was *awesome* and did get this dubbed for me, and I appreciate it more than he knows.  If there's still interest (and with mitch's permission, of course), I may upload it to the spleen...if that's not too "blow-by-blow" of me to say.  ;)  j/k

Oh, of course there is still interest, if it would be possible from both ends!!

Although I don't understand what's the story with the dubbing..

I just meant that he got it recorded into digital format from his VHS tape.

This was supposed to be going up on the spleen last night.  Haven't seen it yet, but I'll post back here if it shows up.

You sure are demanding.  Posting a blow by blow in a thread of your impatience isn't very good etiquette here.  Please learn some patience and learn to post with better manners.  It will get you a lot farther.

No disrespect meant, just saying.

You may want to have all the information before accusing someone of being either demanding or impatient.  First of all, just for the record, I waited over two years for this to be put up.  Not weeks.  Not months.  YEARS.  That's not a complaint, I'm just stating a fact.  Maybe you're in the habit of asking for something and hoping it shows up three or four years later, but I'd hardly consider this impatient on my part.  I made one testy post, and I think I had just cause for it at the time.  And we later discussed it privately and sorted things out to our mutual satisfaction.  I don't believe I've shown poor manners to anyone else in this thread.  If so, I apologize.

As for the post you're quoting, I was only trying to be helpful to the previous poster who also showed interest in this.  I knew they were wanting it as well, so I was just letting them know the status from my end.  I wasn't trying to give a blow-by-blow of how I felt about it one way or the other.

On the plus side, mitch was *awesome* and did get this dubbed for me, and I appreciate it more than he knows.  If there's still interest (and with mitch's permission, of course), I may upload it to the spleen...if that's not too "blow-by-blow" of me to say.  ;)  j/k

It's VHS quality, but I've so far gotten the first half of this.  I'll post back once I have the rest, hopefully within the next few days.  I'll try and confirm the score question, too.  This is definitely one of Williams's best scores.

EDIT: I've still only gotten the first half.  Still waiting for the second...

I'd be interested in the 176m cut, as long as long as it isn't DVD-quality. HD hopefully in 1080p would be great.

Just an update, I'm still waiting on Mitch for this.  I haven't heard back from him in several days now (he hasn't been online since the 18th).  Initially, I was supposed to get this from him on the 17th, but still nothing.  Guess we'll see...I'll let you know if anything changes.

The Godfather Saga - HD Restoration (Released)
Time

The AMC version was broadcast in 5.1, so I DO have a 5.1 track for all the extra scenes.  Unfortunately, the only 1080p rip I know of is also in stereo, hence my doing the entire thing in 720p and 5.1 for consistency.  I can make another thread if you think that'd be better, but there is a difference in my version and a preservation.  This version will not be exactly like the Saga or Trilogy edits.  It will place the Don Ciccio assassination where it belongs chronologically like in the Saga, and incorporate a few scenes exclusive to that version, but it will not contain the TV-style openings and closings of the parts of the Saga, and it will contain all the things edited out of the Saga that were in the theatrical versions.  I'm not doing this to "interest" people.  I'm doing it because I'd like it done.

I suggest preserving the chronological order approach.

I think this is the way I'm going with this.  I really have no idea why that particular scene was shifted so late in the boxed set anyway, it really doesn't make much sense.

Due to the complexity of this, I've decided to take this project on in three stages: Young Vito, Adult Vito, and Adult Michael.  I've just finished creating the cut list for Young Vito.  The only thing I haven't decided is whether to blur the AMC logo.  I dislike the logo, but I may dislike blurring effects even more.

Now to find a 720p rip of GFI and GFII that contain the embedded subs.  All the files I've found online have srt files separated.  I don't understand this considering my blu-rays have hardcoded subs.  Hmm...

My edit won't be a proper preservation.  The films already exist in their theatrical versions, and the Saga as aired exists, too.  This is a cutting together of as much theatrical footage from the blu-ray as possible with the added scenes from the recent HD broadcast.  The whole point is to bring 1901-1980 up to 720p / 5.1 standards.  If I were trying to stick to original elements on everything, I'd just watch the laserdisc.

Info & Idea: Back to the Future - To Be Continued=>

I created these myself in AutoCAD recently.  I'd be happy to recreate the "To Be Continued" graphic as well if there's enough interest in my doing so.

The Godfather Saga - HD Restoration (Released)

Count me in as wanting a version that reinserts the HD extra footage of this broadcast into the uncensored footage of the theatrical cuts to recreate "The Godfather Trilogy: 1901-1980".  I had this on Laserdisc and, IMHO, it's the best way to experience the films.  If no one is planning to do this, I'm contemplating buying a computer that will be up to the task (as the one I currently own is something of a dinosaur).  About the only thing that seems like it might be hard to deal with is the AMC watermark.  But I'd rather have a watermark on the extra footage than have it in 4:3 and in 2.0 like my previous reconstruction, sourced from the DVD set.

Supposedly, this version aired on Encore in great quality, and in the original aspect ratio.  Does anyone have this?  One forum member claimed to, and has promised to send it to me, but at this point, I’ve literally waited for him to find the time for years.  I’m coming back here to plea for anyone else who may have this to please send it my way.  It’s one of my favorite films, and my wife’s as well.  We would love to have a copy of this, as we both remember it airing with all of these additions - 36 minutes is a huge difference.  I really hope someone here can help out.  Thanks so much, guys.  I appreciate it very much.

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit
Time

I created this version of the films myself as well.  I used the DVD's as my source and inserted the extra scenes wherever applicable.  The aspect ratio shifts from 1.85:1 to 1.33:1 for those scenes as that's the only way they were presented on the DVD's.  Took 5 DVD's.  I stopped after Part II because Part III plays normally in the 1901-1980 collection, so there was no need to include it.

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time

I've revised "EyeShotFirst"s original poster covers (THANK YOU for creating those, sir) if anyone is interested.  The above images are lo-res just so you'll know what I was going for.  I have access to incredibly hi-res scans of each one-sheet, so I wanted to do a slight revision for that reason.  I hope you guys enjoy.  There are also variants without the "The Original, Unaltered Classic" text across the top for those who'd prefer them without.

EDIT: Original logos added to spines, link updated.  Enjoy.

@Jetrell - I just won the poster at an auction, I'm just passing along their scan of the poster.  Honestly, I'm not sure about the legalities of the watermark.  Didn't give it much thought.  I assumed at the quality level they're sharing these images, they didn't want some to just be happy enough with the scans and not bid?  lol

@Frink - Ah, okay.  lol  I'm amazed I missed me a 1980's Keaton film reference!  Shame on me.  ;)
