Info: a Stack of 35/16mm film prints... for sale on eBay

Perfect sense. 😃

If you can answer another question related to this topic, why would TV companies use 16mmm over 35mm for their telecasts? Was it because of technical reasons or were the 16mm prints just cheaper to obtain?

Cheaper to obtain, cheaper for distributors to distribute, and most of these broadcasts were for old CRT TVs anyway, so it didn’t matter much. In addition, 16mm prints are way smaller.

The Force Awakens: 1.78:1 scenes in 2D? - with recreation of IMAX scene (Released)

Thanks for the replies yall. Thats what I thought, but I wasnt quite sure. Basically a non-anamporphic disc will display in a 4:3 AR and when you stretch it all out to look right, youre basically enlarging the pixals which in turn degredates the image. To be honest, despite owning the GOUT, I dont think Ive ever watched it on my 16x9 TV. I wish the powers that be would offer scope copies along with the Bluray. That way youd get the full resolution instead of the 1920x860 or whatever it is.

The Blu-rays do have the proper aspect ratio and resolution, despite their myriad other issues.

Kino has just announced a 50th anniversary Blu-ray set with both the theatrical and extended cuts remastered in 4K, and both with the Italian audio as an option (would love it if they did the previous two “Dollars” films this way, too). Hopefully the “Restored Mono” means these are the original English mono mixes. No set street date yet, but TheDigitalBits thinks sometime this summer.

I am SO excited for this now. WOW. What good news. I hope the colors are good.

For what it’s worth, the person who did the scan gave me his blessing to distribute it privately.

In that case be prepared for an onslaught of Pms. (That’s plural of PM, not pms, just in case you were wondering, like I know you weren’t.)

I’ve been getting them since a page or two back xD

I downloaded the (huge!) MKV, thanks to zxthehedgehog and Handman. Being a video editor with some compression tools, I compressed it from 22 GB down to 6, with minimal visual loss. I can upload this somewhere if anyone is interested in a more compact version.

Your 6GB version would fit on a DVD9, so that’s nice, but 22GB isn’t really all that big, and honestly it’s pretty necessary to have a file of that size to get all those tiny details, generally. I’d be interested in seeing some screenshot comparisons between the two versions, if you’d be willing to make some.

The Star Wars Semi-Specialised Edition V2.5 is now up on myspleen and tehparadox. Here are updated screencap
comparisons for all seven Star Wars regrades…

Still looks yellow.
I like the “semi-specialized” concept, but don’t think colour is your thing.
Any chance you could separately release “semi-specialized” & “semi-specialized: han-solo-has-end-stage-liver-failure edition”?

Yikes, dude, kk650 is one of the more prominent re-colorers(?) on the internet.

Hey guys, a question about the Chewtobacca DVD5 of RotJ 2.5. Does this contain a menu or just the movie itself? I burned the files and it plays in my dvd player but it goes straight into the movie…awesome quality by the way:) Just wanted to know if there is a menu that I am missing out on by burning it wrong? Thanks guys and keep up the AWESOME work!!

There’s no menu on that release; you aren’t missing anything.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

Hello, everyone

I enjoy the Star Wars retail blurays I own, but love the original VHS set before all the special effects were added. I have Harmy’s Despecialized Edition on MKVs, but I still like to put in a disc now and then.
I’d love to experience your bluray ISO work and I found a file on MEGA with directions on how to download the ISOs (knew better than to ask for a MySpleen invite here) but ANH 2.5 ISO is listed instead of ANH 2.7. Any help for getting an updated download link for the latest ISO version would be greatly appreciated…

Thanks!
