Idea & Help Wanted: a Live Action version of Clone Wars 2003
Time

CloneWars

Just an idea but using assets from all the prequel movies, the sound effects from the show, making some custom backgrounds and props, and having a few actors digitally added in later on to play some of the human roles, could a live action version of the Clone Wars Anime be put together? Does anyone with more knowledge on this kind of stuff know how much work this would actually take to put together? If anyone would be interested in making this, I would try to help in any way I could. Thanks in advance everyone.

Idea: Two Prequels instead of Three
Time

i’m going to set out to make my first fan edit, my prequel “saga” will consist of two films “Rise Of The Clone Army” which will consist of half scenes from TPM and the other half will be scenes from AOTC
The “sequel” Will be called “Call To The Dark” and it will start out with the second half of AOTC and finish with scenes from ROTS…
I will not be starting with the original version of the films, I will start with the “Fall of the Jedi” fan-edit series of prequels which helps to keep the continuity.

If Any one has any suggestions feel free to leave them! 😄

May use this in my project if it turns out good.

is this fanedit editng the two trilogy’s into there own movies together… or into six new films?

This is all films put together back to back with very brief pauses in-between. This is meant to be used to easily marathon all the movies but still give time to pause or stop if you don’t have the time. Most of every movie (aside from Phantom Menace) will remain intact.

Info: Need special effects for your edit? Request them here!

Really my most major request would be cleaning up this scene from ROTJ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ayT0EZwbks (cropping it, cleaning up the film grime, fixing the green outline in certain parts, fixing the flashing in certain parts, and fixing the lightsaber to be skinner when Luke turns it on). Immediately after the Millennium Falcon and X-wing are shown I wouldn’t need any more footage cleaned up. I’m sure many other people making Return of the Jedi edits could also use this clip. If you are interested, I would love your help (or anyone who has experience with Photoshop, Adobe AfterEffects etc.) with my Star Wars Redone project: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/-Star-Wars-Redone-/id/17642#761603 but the ROTJ clip is something I wouldn’t know how to fix myself. Thanks in advance!

The Force Awakens : Fan Edit Ideas
Time

Loving some of the ideas in here. Really liked this movie but there were issues. Most Glaring: While some snippy/arrogant/joking dialogue is fine… having the Sinister Sith lord who just murdered someone be mocked by a rebel in no position to do so and Finn trying to impress Solo about being a high rank rebel are completely unnecessary/ridiculous, If Finn had been given more of a backstory and already killed people as a Storm Trooper his conversion would have been so much more powerful, Ray isn’t that developed and could have been shown on Jakku for at least 10 minutes more interacting with scrapers and her daily life, Hyperspace takes no time at all?!, Coruscant is destroyed but no one mentions it (perhaps use the footage of Leah feeling Hans death to show that someone felt it?),way too many call backs with "12 parsecs and trash-compactor, Han Solo instantly finds the Falcon?, BB8 being found next to ray in the middle of nowhere (her seeing BB8 at the scrap selling place would have made so much more sense), and removing sheets over the millennium falcon or r2d2 just to get a clap out of people was stupid.

Most of these issues could be fixed without much effort with just basic footage trimming. If an extended cut is ever released then that would give footage for the needed character development.

I’m currently working on a project to have all Star Wars movies be put together, have the best possible versions (best fan edits/releases), have mistakes removed, and be easily watched back to back. If anyone would like to send me ideas for when I start editing Episode 7 here is my project: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-Redone/id/17642/originaltrilogy.com/id/Star-Wars-Redone/id/17642

Star Wars ANH Bluray Semi-Despecialized & CC (JASWFP) V1 DONE (Released)

Introduction: just another star wars fan project

First of all i wanna say that I don't really follow the Star Wars fan edit scene so this might already be done and/or might not really be that interesting to most of you, but this a personal project of mine that I'm doing anyways so I thought I might as well share it here since some one might find it interesting.

Anyway, I saw Harmy's Despecialized version a few weeks ago and got really inspired of doing a similar project but for the version that I grew up with and actually prefer to the originals (expect for a few changes): the specialized editions. But as most of you are aware of the contrast and colors on the bluray are pretty much worthless so the focus of this release will be to make a complete color correction of the bluray as well as a few changes (only Han fires; CG rock, Jabba scene and some of the Mos Eisley CG will be removed) and it will be released and synced to the 97 theatrical DTS surround soundtrack. What I'm basically doing is what I think should have been the bluray release of Star Wars.

I will put a lot of effort in to provide the highest picture quality possible, that means that my whole workflow will be in a DI-format (Prores) and it will end up as a 1080p 25GB (single layer BD) file using x264 2pass slow preset. I've tested the workflow and quality wise it's pretty much transparent to the original bluray. The tools I will be using is Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Colorista II and avisynth.

ETA is when it's done. I have a full time job so dunno when I get time to finish it, been working with it for about a week now and I'm already 20min in, so lets hope that I will continue in that rate.

Color correction

I will do a cut/cut CC of the whole film, and it should be noted that this will not be a “regrade” of the film, I'm pretty much relying heavily on the RGB-parade, waveform and vectroscope to make sure that contrast is spot on in every scene, that objects that are supposed to be white are white and not green, blue or red (although it will probably be slightly on the warm side throughout the film), and that skin tones are on the skin tone line on the vectroscope throughout the film. So my objective is more to make sure the colors are accurate and not what I think look best/trying to imitate what the original print looked like. My first plan was actually use Harmy's version as a reference but I found pretty quickly that his CC and contrast are very inconsistence (no offense) and there are some scenes that have a lot of weird things going on color and contrast wise. I will also remove all the weird magenta smoke and flashes throughout the film. the GOUT will be used to some extent as a reference when it comes to shadow detail, exposure, smoke color etc.

Screen samples

I hope that I don't upset anyone when I include Harmy's version as a reference here, I figured that since they are so popular they should make a good reference. Since the first scene on tatooine look so much worse then the rest of the movie I ran it through MCTemporalDenoise, it's not perfect yet, but it looks much better then the original at least.

Order: Top(bluray), middle(Harmy's), bottom(mine)

How much more work is needed until a release? And will it be released as a torrent or direct download?

"Star Wars: Redone" makes it sound like the movies are finished forever. Since they're making more, I'd suggest calling your project "Star Wars: Redid."

I think "Star Wars Refried" would be more apt.

 How about Star Wars reheated?

These "plot holes" are not really problematic at all... they are just nitpicky and the scenes still make perfect sense already, but hey, this is your edit

The films are fine on their own. I'm trying to make a version with every small that bugs me about them removed.

It's a plot hole that a space station the size of a small moon could create a laser beam so powerful that it could destroy a planet and send its pieces flying at such tremendous speeds as to not only overcome the gravity of that planet, but in fact zoom away from that planet at such speeds.

http://www.theforce.net/swtc/ds/index.html#superlaser

The lasers even paused as they joined together at different times, firing outwardly only when all were caught up.  I hope you'll fix this whole mess.  It's not realistic at all.  In fact, I hope you will show Alderaan blowing apart over the course of a few days, as is more realistic.

Also there is no sound in space.  I hope you will remove all sound effects.

But should you choose to keep them, please at least make a realistic lapse between sight and sound.  Remember, sound travels much slower.  Again, looking at Alderaan, since we were thousands of miles away when it exploded, we shouldn't have heard anything for hours and hours.  Can't you straighten these issues out, please?

Although I like the idea of a very realistic Star Wars practically every other Sci-Fi film uses sound in space. Coming into the movie the viewer typically knows this and doesn't mind it. I wouldn't consider the sounds in space something to correct but rather a well loved part of Star Wars and something that would detract from rather than enhance or correct the film. I do like the idea of slowing down the Alderaan destruction. Maybe not to a day but I have found longer fan made sequences online which would fit much better than an instant explosion.

If possible I would but redoing lines that several well known characters say would be very difficult "I'm Luke Skywalker I'm here to rescue you" and both Vader and the Emperor say "Skywalker". If you can send me convincing audio files with skywalker replaced then I would use it but at the moment that would be very hard to do.

The "plot holes" and "horrendous dialogue" you list are nothing of the sort.

To me droids walking through a laser firefight unscathed is a plot hole. The "horrendous dialogue" may not bug some but it takes me out of the movies.

Moved to a new section. Thank you for your input.

I was happier with this response when I hadn't realized you gave the same response to Darth Lucas.  I'M A UNIQUE SNOWFLAKE AND DEMAND TO BE TREATED AS SUCH!

Input was the same but I'll try my best to give you unique responses Mr. Snowflake sir.
