The next four weeks are going to be agony. Must find out truth… Must find out truth…

Should the OOT ever be restored and released I don’t know what I’ll find more exciting. The fact that all the years of begging finally paid off or the stunned and speechless reactions of those who presently insist it will never happen.
It would be an absolute joy to see egg on the faces of the scum who want the originals to stay buried.
Gonna be a long wait till Celebration.
I think that was a very irresponsible tweet by Pablo. It did nothing positive at all. All it did was anger the OUT fans and further drive us away from the new Disney Star Wars direction.
If they have such active contempt for the very core of us who saw Star Wars in the theaters in the 70’s and 80’s, they are throwing away the legacy that made everything so great in the first place. I can only hope Lucasfilm slaps his wrists a bit for this. Not the way you want to solidify your very diverse fan base.
I agree completely. Winding up your customers is not a good idea.
But it’s still not the only issue, and while this particular issue goes away once the OUT is released, the nasty fandom component will continue bitching about all the other things they bitch about now.
Yes, but once the OUT is available, it will be no worse than any other fandom. At the moment, gloating about the unavailability of the OUT sets Star Wars fandom apart in terms of the amount of bile.

I’m fine with people liking the prequels up until they start trashing the OUT. Then we will have words. I make the mistake of venturing over to reddit.com/r/starwars/ sometimes. Basically I’m not a real fan and not welcome because I don’t embrace the prequels and all the changes they feel were necessary to the OT just to fit more inline with their prequels.I agree with you. This is the reason why I can’t stand the Star Wars fandom, I’ve never seen anything like it with any other major franchise.
Star Wars is a nasty fandom, and it’s all because the OUT is unavailable in acceptable quality. If Disney made it available, it would calm everything right down.
That’s not the only reason, not by a long shot. No way things calm down after the OUT is released. You clearly haven’t been reading the rest of the forum.
I’ve edited my post to clarify what I meant - it’s the prequel people gloating about the OUT not being available.

Double post, sorry.

Oh, God.You don’t think…
I feel like this guy pulls stuff out his ass sometimes, merely to shut people up… and I really hope he’s wrong.
I think you’re right. And it’s his own fault for engaging in topics he probably knows he shouldn’t.
If Pablo wants to avoid criticism, he really shouldn’t be commenting about the rumours. He seems to have developed a victim complex.
I’m willing to at least wait until the big convention a couple months from now before I start declaring it a hopeless cause.
It’s arguably less hopeless now than it has been in several years. Lucasfilm obviously didn’t put out a gag order regarding the 4k restoration if Gareth Edwards talked openly about watching it.
Something is happening.
But if the convention comes and goes without a single word on the subject, that’s when we can start complaining.
That’s pretty much how I feel. Until Celebration happens, I remain hopeful we’ll get the OUT this year. No announcement? Then it’s war.
I’m planning on burning some large mkv files to BD-R discs, with a view to being able to watch them on my TV. I intend playing them back on my Panasonic DMR-BWT700EB Blu-ray recorder. Anybody know if Panasonic equipment can playback mkv files from disc?
I would love an invite too.
Is this available in colour yet? I can only find black and white versions.
Is this still available? I can’t find it.
Sorry, I was referring to Team Negative1’s scan of Empire, not makeMKV.
Is this still available? I can’t find it.

2.7 is pretty widely available. It’s available on myspleen, tehparadox, following the directions on Harmy’s facebook page, etc. I don’t know if it’s on public trackers, since such postings are never the work of the people around here and typically happen pretty long after initial release.
Okay, I will patiently wait for it to surface.
Officially endorsed by Harmy as 2.7, and distributed him. Rendered by me.
Thank you for clarifying. Why is v2.5 the one which is still widely available?
Is version 2.7 unofficial or something? Version 2.5 still seems to be the only version which is widely available.
Ignore. Double post.
Sigh. Okay, “perfect” is maybe a bit of hyperbole, but the colours here are miles better than the Blu-ray, and I find the colours in Harmy’s version to be very unnatural looking.
Finally, a version of this movie where the colours don’t look mental. Are there any plans to change the colours in later releases? I think they are perfect the way they are.

All the video releases have it. I have everything save the Blu Ray, which apparently was so badly designed, some players need extra memory just to load the bloated menus!
George may replace Buster Crabbe with Gil Gerard for the 50th anniversary Director Director's Cut though. ;)
That's weird, it's not on either of the UK VHS releases I owned. And I thought the DVD had a clip from a different B&W film?
Regarding the colour on ANH, do the earlier versions of the despecialized edition have significantly different grading from version 2.5?

Buck is present on every version we know about. The 16mm is the 1971 version.
Thanks. It's not on any of the home video releases though is it?

What you probably saw of the SEN scene was a monochrome version done just so people could see what the 16mm print looks like sans all the color issues that needs to be fixed.
Poita has told me the Buck Rogers scene was omitted to get the file size down. It's on the print. :)
What releases was the Buck Rogers scene on? Was it the original 1971 release or the 1977 rerelease? Or both?
