I’ve only seen the trailers, but they were kind of restrained with the CGI, and at least attempted to stay true to the look of the strip. Pity Fox seems more interested in Blu Sky Studios cranking out more Ice Age sequels than doing something new.

I agree–the CGI was very subtle. The 3D appearance was accomplished through relatively (compared to other 3D animation) restrained shadowing.

Interstellar spoilers:
I was debating 6 or 7 really. I liked the modern twist on the Dust Bowl era and most of what else happens on Earth. But then I found their insistence on hitting up the big tidal wave planet to be an unrealistic decision. I enjoyed their interaction with relativity there, but there really needed to be a more compelling reason provided for them going to that planet.
But then I really enjoyed the twist provided by Damon’s character, and the father-daughter reunion at the end. I think the idea that McConaughey went back through space time to save his family was a great plot point that was sadly very poorly and lazily executed. “Future human generations created this five-dimensional space for you.” yeah, sure. So why didn’t they all die in Dust Bowl 2.0 the first time around then?
43rd anniversary edition doesn’t have as nice a ring to it though. 😉

Disney simply isn’t Lucas, who (like it or not) was still an “artist”. Disney is pure corporation and what they care about is making the profit. Releasing OOT is simply unnoteworthy compared to the profit they get from making new stuff.
To paraphrase : Disney only cares and money. Therefore, they won’t sell a product that costs practically nothing to produce and that will sell like hot cakes at $100 a pop.
When you operate in billions, several millions is unnoteworthy profit. All it would do is basically steal lots of publicity and attention from the things that make them billions now.
Then why the hell does any major studio release catalog titles on home video?

A lot of it works, but the explanation we get when he’s in the black hole just doesn’t cut it for me. It felt a bit lazy. But up to that point, and after, it was really good.
