i wonder if they will ever perfect behind-your-face 3D. then things really could sneak up on you in movies.

They tested Feel A Round movies in the 70’s, but it was too intense for average movie goers. 😉

LOL, that is insane! popcorn for $1? :p

Yeah, for 4$ you get to see a movie and eat a small popcorn. Not bad.

I paid 16.25$ for my 3D IMAX ticket of The Force Awakens

Yeah, as did I. I just wish the movie theaters would have reserved seats for all of their rooms, and not just the AVX/IMAX rooms.

That would be ideal, but I don’t think my local Cinemark even has numbered seats except in XD.

This Trump tweet made me laugh.

Eventually, but at a later date so we can get started early, Mexico will be paying, in some form, for the badly needed border wall.

God bless Donald Trump.
I couldn’t believe it when he won.
My first time voting and I pick the winner!
Just awesome.

I am so shocked.

So what do you like better, his shitty treatment of women or his shitty treatment of non-whites? My guess, based entirely on your posts here, is that you can’t decide because you like both of those.

What about my posts here other than my last one gave you that impression?

The fact that you’re making them.

No really, let’s stop being funny for a sec.

Who’s being funny?

You, my good friend. Attempting to be funny, at least.

Nice catch.

I’m gonna poke your bum.

That’s not how 69 works.

I’ve only seen the trailers, but they were kind of restrained with the CGI, and at least attempted to stay true to the look of the strip. Pity Fox seems more interested in Blu Sky Studios cranking out more Ice Age sequels than doing something new.
And when was the last Peanuts theatrical feature? 1980?

I agree–the CGI was very subtle. The 3D appearance was accomplished through relatively (compared to other 3D animation) restrained shadowing.

I’d previously read the first paragraph I’m quoting here, but not the second. Creepy, as if he had a time machine to see is own future behavior.

George Lucas said:

People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society. . . .

These current defacements are just the beginning. Today, engineers with their computers can add color to black-and-white movies, change the soundtrack, speed up the pace, and add or subtract material to the philosophical tastes of the copyright holder. . . . It will soon be possible to create a new “original” negative with whatever changes or alterations the copyright holder of the moment desires. The copyright holders, so far, have not been completely diligent in preserving the original negatives of films they control. In order to reconstruct old negatives, many archivists have had to go to Eastern bloc countries where American films have been better preserved.

Also love the nod to Eastern bloc countries. Thank you Harmy!

OT Twitter should put this out on May 25 if we don’t hear anything.

Interstellar spoilers:

I was debating 6 or 7 really. I liked the modern twist on the Dust Bowl era and most of what else happens on Earth. But then I found their insistence on hitting up the big tidal wave planet to be an unrealistic decision. I enjoyed their interaction with relativity there, but there really needed to be a more compelling reason provided for them going to that planet.

But then I really enjoyed the twist provided by Damon’s character, and the father-daughter reunion at the end. I think the idea that McConaughey went back through space time to save his family was a great plot point that was sadly very poorly and lazily executed. “Future human generations created this five-dimensional space for you.” yeah, sure. So why didn’t they all die in Dust Bowl 2.0 the first time around then?

What can and can't be changed by Disney?

Disney simply isn’t Lucas, who (like it or not) was still an “artist”. Disney is pure corporation and what they care about is making the profit. Releasing OOT is simply unnoteworthy compared to the profit they get from making new stuff.

To paraphrase : Disney only cares and money. Therefore, they won’t sell a product that costs practically nothing to produce and that will sell like hot cakes at $100 a pop.

When you operate in billions, several millions is unnoteworthy profit. All it would do is basically steal lots of publicity and attention from the things that make them billions now.

Then why the hell does any major studio release catalog titles on home video?
