Jurassic Park films
Time

Jurassic Park is great, of course. I haven’t seen The Lost World in a long time, but I remember it being palatable. The rest has been a joke. No plans to see JW2.

They’ve also released the others on 4K, has anyone bought those yet?

I don’t have them. Nor a 4K set for that matter, but Bill Hunt has put up a review.

TL;DR, an improvement over Blu-Ray, but the early 90s CGI has its limits and isn’t that much better on 4K.

intersteller really needs a fan audio touch up or something, I tried to watch it at a friends house, and the dialog was inaudible, and the sound effects were enough to require earplugs!

Maybe your friend needs to friend rebalance his sound system.

yeah, from what i remember Interstellar’s sound mix is superb.

he didn’t have a sound system at the time, just an old crt.

I don’t know a lot about downmixing. But I suspect that a stereo CRT could make a DTS surround track sound like shit.

I’m Protesting Christianity

WIR :p

Actually, according to wiki, the word Protestant does use “protest” as its root word, as the original term was political in nature but acquired a broader meaning over time.

Well yeah. The protestant churches were formed when Christians protested the teachings of the Church.

8/10 (I’d probably give 1 a 7/10)

Flip those two and that’s my rating.

There was nothing in 1 as enjoyable as the baby in 2, so by that metric alone 2 wins.

Also 2 had a beer at the theater and 1 had no beer at home. Both had popcorn but the theater popcorn was better.

Jack Jack and Edna were hilarious. Though I prefer the first one. The novelty and the clever references of the original just can’t be replicated.

I think you can agree that any percentage is disgusting.

The question though is not at what percentage it is disgusting, but at what point it is a systemic problem of the Church and at what point the top bears culpability. I don’t know what that number is, and the latter (culpability) relies on a multitude of other factors as well.

I will say, I was raised in the Church, went to Catholic school through high school, and I was very insulated from the degree to which this was a systemic problem. We were always told it was a few bad apples; everyone was out to get the Church for it unfairly. The truth, as always, is probably somewhere in between. Though my estimate creeps closer to culpability the more I read.

Ironically, the Church is horrible at self-reflection and owning up to its flaws and mistakes, while it’s adherents are told they must confess their sins to a priest it appoints or face eternal hellfire. What a farce.

I don’t think TV is part of the deal, so they wouldn’t get The Simpsons.

The Murdochs would hold on to the Fox network itself since Disney owning more than one of the “big four” (they already own ABC) would violate antitrust regulations.

Why doesn’t anti-trust apply to major film studios as well? Is six considered more than enough?
