Disney doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to jump on the 4K bandwagon just yet. And unless a modern film has been rendered at 4K, or an older film has a shiny new 4K master, you’re paying for an upscale anyway.

I guess we’re operating under the assumption that due to the date of the LF acquisition, any master of the OUT will have been finished in 4K.

I’ll wait for the inevitable ST box set when all is said and done before I buy TFA again (assuming such a set will include the new features). One commentary isn’t enough for me to pony up for 3D, given that I don’t have a 3D TV.

I won’t rebuy if/until it comes out in 4K. Even though I don’t have 4K now, I’d like to future proof my SW collection even if I don’t yet have the means to play it.

A local theatre nearby issues this statement about their STAR WARS TRILOGY screenings – very close to the actual event itself. Hadn’t realized until today.

Lucas Film Ltd. has pulled all scheduled national theatrical screenings of the films of the original Star Wars trilogy, including those slated for August 5-7 at the Carolina Theatre of Durham. As a result, those films will not be screening in theaters this summer.

If this is true, how are the ALAMO screenings going on?

The only two possible explanations I can think of for this would be (a) a recent decision concerning the future of the films’ distribution (I.e., a new master/OUT), or (b) a feud between Disney/Fox, which on second thought seems altogether petty and unlikely.

I was proposing that The Leah that was born with Luke in Ep 3 died. But they saved one of Padme’s eggs and some of darths sperm and had a tube baby 2 years later. And they named that kid Leah too. That will explain the 2 year difference between the twins. Also why those twins aren’t identical.

You don’t know what twins are, do you

Interesting indeed. If this is indeed the case, it tells us that LF is at least working on something. Whether that’s simply a new big screen master for the 2011 cut or a sign they’re working on restoring the originals.

Who knows, maybe they do have a restoration for the 40th and were not ready to open the can quite yet, but figured they might as well increase the quality of upcoming screenings. Could also explain holding back a screening of the '97 cuts. They might just want to avoid over confusion if they’re indeed going to start marketing the OUT soon.
