But Dr Ebbetts already did both a stereo and mono US preservation
Yes and No. it was the Capitol us album sequencing with the UK mixes
With the Beatles preservation has completed
Transfer of With The Beatles has Started
Brodnation’s A Hard Day’s Night has been Completed
I’m thinking of releasing it as sides and at 48/24 instead of 44/16. Thoughts?
just to be clear. no automatic click reduction is being performed. It is a manual very controlled very light click reduction in the intro and fade out.
Not a Beatles expert, but there are a lot of laserdisc editions; it could be possible to find out some mono versions, so I guess laserdisc higher S/N and dynamic could be a better source, at least in theory.
That would be an ok route except for the fact that only 5 out of 13 Beatles albums appear on laserdisc. Not to mention they are just the films. So you will get different edits and mixes than the album version and often songs are cut out of the film completely or are trimmed down significantly. For my purposes my original UK Monos are the best sources
Transfer of Sides 1 and 2 of A Hard Days Night are Complete. Processing is now starting
The only times the Beatles in Mono has been released digitally are the 2009 CDs and the flat transfers included in the deluxe remix sets. But both of these are not perfect.
For the 2009 CDs they feature automatic digital cleanup. Manual spectral “fixes” and a mid boost EQ. The “Flat” Transfers would be better if not for the Considerable amount of Dynamic Range Compression.
This project is officially on permanent hiatus
Since Apple refuses to release completely unaltered digital releases of The Beatles in Mono,
I will be taking on the task. I will be using my professional deck. (SL-1200, R blue, 96/24 DAC and Izotope) to transfer my mint Original UK Mono Records.
This is in the same vain as the Dr Ebbetts project for the Stereo albums.
Here is the process. Clean stylus. Take Vinyl out of sleeve. Zero stat it. Pour a 25% rubbing alcohol mix on. Drip dry. Zero stat again. Record a 96/24 stereo stream. Play side 1. Take off deck. Flip album. Repeat. Do very minor controlled click reduction at the start and in the fade out. Left channel minus Right channel just leaving any miss tracking or siblance. Sum to mono. Use original track and sum to mono. Minus original mono by the miss tracking thus removing the miss tracking. Also the sum to mono reduces background noise. Fade in the start to reduce noise. Fade out the very tail end to reduce noise. Save as 96/24. Downsample to 44/16 for CDs

Re: Beatles in Mono preservation
I just want to put out a little reminder. These shots are consistently jaw-dropping and have a perfect balance to my eyes. I want to thank you, Dr Dre, for putting in all this work. These look absolutely stunning. Thank you very much Dre
I get it… You are making a joke about my spelling. it certainly did NOT take me a day to realize that.
that.Lol, sorry 😉
all good bro 😃

Still wondering how tilted the other restorations are.
Tilted?
well, this one is quite untilted
Ooooh I thought that said tilted. Sorry on a phone, idk I want to name it something but everything that I have come up with seems a bit to grand and self important

I am informing you that this project will be put on indefinite halt as my computers hard drive decided today would be a good day to die. I will me going ito my repair shop tomorrow but idk if i will get my files back. Thanks for being so patient
5.1 surround sound is the common name for six channel surround sound audio systems. It uses five full bandwidth channels and one low-frequency effects channel (the “point one”).
Yes I am aware that the the current standard is 6 track 5.1 and 8 track 7.1. What i was referring to was back in the late 60s through the early 80s. Films 35-70mm would have a magnetic soundtrack strip on them which would carry 6 channel discrete surround. I thought that the track labeled 70mm 6 Track was a recording of one of these mag tracks. Thanks for telling me it is true 5.1 though, less work for me 🙂
One final question is there another platform which one can access Star Wars fan projects besides Myspleen?
You can find it in the usenet.
Look at binsearch for 4K77.
Thanks. Is their startup guides online for getting started with unset because I have never used it before. Is there anything I should know.
Well, first off, the only “six track” mix on there is the 5.1 - the rest are all stereo and mono.
Second, there’s no 1.6 for either DNR or no DNR. There’s a 1.4 no-DNR that has a new color grade courtesy of Sanjuro, and both it and the DNR Blu-Ray ISO have a new scan of the opening crawl.
Third, MySpleen invites are closed and have been for a long time. There’s been rumblings that they’ll open up invites again but nothing official.
Ok I’m sorry looks like I just wasted your time. I thought that it was a six track mix cause that was what it’s labeled as and I don’t have any equipment to test surround. 2nd I heard that there was a new version of 4K77 with DNR I must have been mistaken. And finally thanks for solidifying my theory as why no one else was getting invites. One final question is there another platform which one can access Star Wars fan projects besides Myspleen?
I will extract the 6 track mag mix from 4K77 and condense it to a 5.1 mix.
What does this mean? Are you talking about hairy_hen’s 70mm six-track reconstruction? Because that’s already a 5.1 mix.
Yes. I wasn’t sure, On my copy it’s just the 1977 6 Track Mix. Also do you know where I can find 4K77 1.6 DNR I have heard that there’s a new version and i don’t know where to get it. Btw I’m not on Myspleen but if you could send me an invite I would be very appreciative
