The one thing my dad always said is to never sign a damn thing they put in front of you if they are letting you go. Take the paperwork with you and mull on it a bit. If they tell you that you cannot take it with you or think about it or anything, you get up and walk away. They cannot make you sign away unemployment benefits, it's illegal. Technically, you don't have to sign non-competes or NDAs, either. Of course, they can try to tie them together saying you sign one, you sign all; you refuse one, you refuse all. Then it's up to you and your "better judgment."

This one will have it. The creator of Halo has said that he wants to work on this platform in the next gen. Obviously, it won't be Halo as, I believe, Microsoft has dibs. But any of his future software, he's stated he wants to develop for the Wii. With that declaration, others will come. And EA is making the Wii a first-round option on games instead of delaying it beyond the release dates for Microsoft and Sony as they usually did.

As for the name, I don't mind it now that I know the justification. But I still prefer "Revolution." Whitehaven makes a good point, though. I guess Wii really does transcend language barriers.

Oh, and for the record, I'm not buying the PS3 or the 360. I have no interest. The Wii is Mii. Sorry, bad pun.

Just to let you know, I fired up Handbrake at home with Almost Famous: Untitled in it. This was the same one as before where I got the director's commentary on the finished video. When I compared what you said to do with what was set as the default, it was all the same. I'm trying to rip it again, but I get the feeling I'll get the same problem. Just in case, is there anything else I should look for?

I was hired as a web designer for a tech magazine. However, like a day after I started, the parent company outsourced the web design to a company that did it for all the magazines they ran. They tried to switch me over to a writer. However, my boss didn't like my writing but would not give me any direction on what he was looking for. Completely aimless writing shit I knew nothing about working for a guy who knew nothing about being a boss. What a tool.

He called me six weeks after I started and said you can either quit or be fired. I took the option that gave me two severance checks and unemployment. I started another job a month later. Been there for almost six years.

If there was one good thing to come of that first job, it was taking the train into Chicago every day. That's awesome. Then walking from the station a little over a mile to where my office was. I lost 25 pounds in those six weeks and wasn't even trying.

Cool! I know the "rip" button, but the interface had so much jumbled garbage in it that I didn't know what's what. And I have so little experience with this stuff that it is, in fact, rocket science. Sorry.

Okay, ran into a bit of a SNAFU. Handbrake Lite does not transfer from DVD direct to iPod ready video. Dunno how to do that now. But I did use the full version of Handbrake to rip a DVD last night. Took four hours. However, when I started watching the resulting MPEG-4 file, it had the director's commentary on it and I couldn't get rid of it. Ironically enough, the MPEG-4 file wouldn't be recognized by Handbrake Lite so I could convert to an iPod-ready file either.

A couple months ago, I tried ripping Red Eye and all it got was one of the special feature documentaries and wouldn't rip anything else.

What's the best way to rip DVDs on Mac? What special steps do I need to take to make it all work? What the hell am I doing wrong? I have no clue how to rip DVDs (Mac or Windows) at all. I just want to put them on my iPod so I can watch on the go. Nothing illegal, I swear.

What sucks is that Asner provided the voice of Master Vrook Lamar in both SW: KOTOR video games yet cannot be directly linked to one of the movies. Damn.
