Capturing Live 8?
Time
From what I heard, Pink Floyd's performance was interrupted in the middle by MTV advertising. They did that throughout the entire concert where they would interrupt songs in the middle for commercials, interviews, etc.

Here's an article... Pink Floyd steals the show at Live 8 - scroll down to the paragraph under the second photo to see about US and Canada broadcasts.

Here is the commentary from Fark users about what happened... MTV Cuts off Pink Floyd

MTV blows.

Nope, he's not dead, yet. The killer was there in his bedroom and had him in a position where he was about to be killed, but the act of killing hasn't happened yet. If they did that, not a single female viewer would tune in this season. So they leave you hanging. And they most certainly did that. My wife nearly had a heart attack when she saw that scene.

What about you? The moment when you "divorced" from the Lucas policy about SW?
Time
I still watch the new theatrical release films with some semblance of excitement, so I guess I'm not entirely divorced from the Evil Empire.

However, in terms of the OT, it would have to be in 1998 when the SEs were released on VHS. When the SEs came out in theaters, I was too excited about being able to see them again on the big screen to care about the changes. In fact, many of them didn't even register with my brain (unless blatantly obvious like Jabba in ANH). However, when I got the VHS set and watched the first movie again, I realized how much changed and decided I didn't care for them and was consequently upset about GL having done them this way.

That's been pretty close to the truth, but they need to speed it up. There are 16 seasons of this show and, at the rate they are going, they won't have them all out until 2015. DVD will be dead by then and they'll need to start over.

I always thought pizza was developed outside of Italy as well. Not necessarily New York, just not in Italy. Apparently I was wrong.

From Wikipedia...

The tomato was first believed to be poisonous (as most other fruits of the nightshade family are), when it came to Europe in the 16th century. However, by the late 18th century even the poor of the area around Naples added it as an ingredient to their yeast-based flat bread, and the dish gained in popularity. Pizza became a tourist attraction, and visitors to Naples ventured into the poorer areas of the city to try the local specialty.

The earliest pizzeria opened in 1830 at Via Port'Alba 18 in Naples and is still in business today. Pizza was still considered "poor man's food" in 1889 when Rafaele Esposito, the most famous pizzaiolo of Naples, was summoned before King Umberto I and Queen Margherita of Savoy to prepare the local specialty. It is said that he made two traditional ones and additionally created one in the colours of the Italian flag with red tomato sauce, white mozzarella cheese, and green basil leaves. The Queen was delighted and "pizza Margherita" was born.

An Italian immigrant to the US in 1897 named Gennaro Lombardi opened a small grocery store in New York's Little Italy. An employee of his, Antonio Totonno Pero (also an Italian immigrant) began making pizza for the store to sell. Their pizza became so popular, Lombardi opened the first US pizzeria in 1905, naming it simply Lombardi's. In 1924, Totonno left Lombardi's to open his own pizzeria on Coney Island called Totonno's. At this point in time in the U.S., pizza consumption was still limited mostly to the Italian immigrant crowd.

I do know that french fries are actually Belgian.

Here's news on the S1 release here in the States. From TVshowsonDVD.com...

Battlestar Galactica - Best Buy Exclusive - Date Within - **Updated**

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has joined Fox and Warner Bros in offering Best Buy a title before other retailers. Battlestar Galactica: Season 1 will appear in Best Buy stores on July 26, and sell for $69.99. Best Buy has listed it as "Battlestar Galactica (Uk Version)," which doesn't make sense; it's the entire first season of the series. It also appears that they're charging full SRP, and they'll get away with it since they don't have any competition for 2 months.

We've been told by other retailers that the regular retail release will be on September 20.

We'll try to post more information when it's available, but Best Buy exclusive titles are kept fairly quiet.

Update - Some people have suggested that Best Buy has imported the UK release. That's not the case; these are region 1 DVDs which Best Buy has for an exclusive period of time. It's possible that the "Uk Version" is in reference to the UK opening theme (which was reworked for the US), or it could simply be something Best Buy added to the listing. We'll have to wait and see when it's released, or whenever Best Buy updates their site with more information.

There are all kinds of ways to do blogs. If you have extreme tech knowhow, you can purchase the software and set it up on your own server with your own domain and whatnot. For this, I recommend MovableType. There are other packages out there, and many of them are free. However, you cannot specify your own domain. Your blog is hosted on their server which has its pluses and minuses. Plus: you don't have to pay for a hosting service. Minus: you have their domain name (kapgar.typepad.com) and you are limited in terms of design elements.

TypePad, which I use, allows for quite a bit of freedom. I have pretty extensive control over HTML, but there are still some elements I haven't figured out how to manipulate. I am hosting on their server now, but they do allow domain mapping which would allow me to set it up so my blog can use my own domain name. The only reason I'm not doing this right now is because the host of my URL (Yahoo) won't allow redirects or mapping to other sites. I maintain my old site because it still has my movie reviews, book reviews, photo albums, and archives. My blog is now on TypePad.

If you want a free service, check out Blogger.

All of these services are both Mac and Windows compatible. Setup is done through a website so there is no software to download. This may be different with MovableType, but I'm not entirely sure. TypePad and Blogger are 100% web based.

Dushku, yep, I have a thing for Kates apparently. I'm married to one and I have a crush on Kate Winslet, Kate Beckinsale and Evangeline Lilly (she plays "Kate" on Lost). Go fig, eh? It just worked out that way. Completely unintentional.

Yeah, well good luck fitting a brickoven in your kitchen, and that's only if you can find a place that would sell one on the retail market.

Gas and electric ovens are the only way to cook a pizza period if you're at home. What choice do you have?

Mackey, we have the Pampered Chef stone as well. Works like a dream. And we do use it for frozen pizzas as well. Turns out great. Just remember that with pizza stones, you do not wash them with soap. I know that means it looks pretty nasty, but the porous nature of the stone means that it sucks up the soap and doesn't let it go. Read the instructions. They say not to clean with soap. You'll wind up with a nasty taste. All you can really do is clean with a rag or sponge and water.
