Oh, and I will be at the game this Friday when they take on the Bills here at home. Woo hoo!

YOU HAVE TO MAKE A SIGN TO TAKE TO THE GAME. MAKE IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BEARS AND OT.COM. I'LL SEE IF I CAN SPOT YOU IN THE STANDS WHILE I WATCH THE GAME.

I shouldn't need a sign. I'll be in the south endzone wearing a hunter's fluorescent orange baseball cap with a Bears logo on it. I may also be wearing a Jim Miller jersey. Oh, and when I say "fluorescent," I mean it. It's bright.

This makes it even worse, the middle school (grades 6-8) I was in from 1987-89 had Apple II GS computers. Great computers at the time. But then I had to take the step backwards when I made it to high school to use a typewriter. And the "computers" (I use that word very loosely) that my high school finally got were jokes. IBMs running OS/2.

Dang, I had all of those when I was a kid.

I'm not talking about the POTF ones, I had the original ones.

POTF are the original ones. There were the Star Wars figures that came out from 1977-1980, Empire Strikes Back run from 1980-1983, Return of the Jedi from 1983-1984, and Power of the Force from 1985-1986. That was the end of it all. The reason why they were called POTF was because the figures in the series ran the gamut from all three movies. Most of the POTF figures were packaged with a special edition coin on the card.

(counts gray hairs... at least the ones his wife doesn't pluck out while he's sleeping)

Same here on all counts (save for me delivering the morning announcements). Pen, index cards, grey hairs being plucked. However, on that last point, I do get a bit ticked. One time we were at her parents' house for a family party and I was sitting on the floor while she was on the couch behind me. She reached down and plucked out a grey hair in front of everybody. I turned to her and said "what the heck are you doing?", she said "plucking a grey hair", I said "why?", she said "it's grey", I said "it's attached and, so long as it's attached, I could care less what color it is", one of her uncles said "amen!"

Oh, and to age us even more, I took my keyboarding class on a typewriter. Remember those?

And considering we invented the language, I would say that if any spelling is 'incorrect', it's not ours.

Precisely. From now on I'll only write "licence" and "colour".

I want to do it, too, just to tick Warbler off!!!!

YIYF and Ric, thanks for the support. I had actually thought of the whole English was started in Europe not America argument this morning, but you beat me to it. Should've been the obvious point to make.

Hey Gundark... what's a "snipple"?

I wasn't talking about them. I don't care about them.

I'm talking about your damn avatar. Use one of the many that you had Jay upload on your behalf. Those are you, not Motti's avatar. Motti's avatar is his identity and it's unique because nobody else has ever used it. Respect that. If I were gone, I wouldn't want you using my avatar as a "tribute." In fact, I'd actually be a bit pissed about it.

Wow! I forgot your wedding was still forthcoming (thought you were amongst us married folks already). Good luck and don't do anything I wouldn't do!

Accept it Warbler, you and I have both been misspelling it insofar as what the actual title of the movie is. Does your spellchecker accept the word Azkaban? I somehow doubt it. So does that mean that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is misspelled? No. That is the title of the movie. Your spellchecker only works for U.S. encoding. It does not accept other forms of English (and they do exist). Look up colour, labour, and flavour. I'll bet your spellchecker tells you that the correct spellings are actually color, labor, and flavor. Guess what? The first spellings are correct in British English.

Spellcheckers are not all knowing. That's the way it goes. The movie is spelled Licence to Kill, all the marketing materials are spelled Licence to Kill, the DVD/VHS covers are spelled Licence to Kill, IMDb (one of the world's most respected movie sites) has it listed as Licence to Kill, Amazon.com only sells that as well.

Don't be so single minded.

We won't know if change is good until we try. I think the Bond films, save for Dalton's run, are still pretty damn close to the mark when it comes to their formula. Maybe not to the exacting degree that you want them to be, but they are close enough for the casual fan. They need to change dramatically or each announcement of a new film will be met with a collective "meh."

"Licence" is a British spelling. It is not incorrect at all. Different countries will use their nation-specific spellings of common words, even if it is part of a title.

However, in the case of this Bond flick, it is Licence with a "C-E" as the official title even in the U.S. Just check IMDb for proof. The Bond producers may have opted for this spelling for any of many reasons... 1) Bond is British, it works; 2) "License to Kill" was already a movie title at that time that came out in 1984 starring Denzel Washington; 3) well, there are likely others that I just cannot think of right now.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who has been misspelling it. I've been using the "S-E" spelling each time I've typed it so far. Guess I'd better change.

This would definitely explain why I couldn't find it on Netflix. I kept looking for "License" and they have it under the "C-E" spelling."

Best. Bond. Ever.
