It was a very cool memorial. Apparently, she was a very popular girl. No question about how beautiful a girl she was. Her picture was on her gravestone which I have visited and photographed as well.

Has anyone here ever had the chance to visit a cemetery in New Orleans? They are such a surreal place to go. Since New Orleans is effectively a swamp, they cannot dig down the customary six feet to bury people. So everyone is entombed in mausoleums. It's like a mini city walking through all these ornate mausoleums. Sad thing, though, is that so many of them are vandalized and these cemeteries are the most notorious place for muggings because there are so many places for people to hide. Sad really. But they are beautiful.

That is sad. I hate seeing vandalized cemeteries. I've run into way too many of them. My grad school thesis was an online cemetery so I visited a ton of cemeteries and took a lot of photographs. I love cemeteries. I find them very peaceful. Easy place to go to in order to have some time where you can just think in complete solitude.

My favorite memorial was to a girl who died in my wife's old neighborhood. Outside their high school, they put a granite bench with her name on it. I liked how it kinda acts like a meeting place for everyone. They can sit there and it fosters a sense of community and whatnot.
