No way. It would have been brilliant, not... creepy and boring like Spielberg's.

HAVE YOU SEEN 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY ??? THAT ENDING WAS RATHER BORING.

Boring?!?! That movie is a masterpiece!! I've seen it several times, and it was never boring at all!

I wouldn't say that the ending is boring, but it is an ending that I can't get. It's too convuluted for me.

Dave travels in his pod to the giant floating monolith, which is actually a stargate, and gets transported a million light years to some interstellar zoo. There in the zoo the aliens observe him, watching him age through the years, before transforming him into some kind of elevated space god.

Of course, I had to skim through the actual book to get the actual meaning behind the ending.

Wow, I never would have gotten that from the film. But it was entertaining.

The Phantom Menace - general discussion thread
Time

Weird. I was on rotten tomatoes looking at reviews for tpm. (I have no life)

But the reviews (sorted by date) kind of reflect how I felt about the film. It looks like when the movie first debuted most reviews were good. As if the hype and the fact that it's star wars made people want to believe that it was good. Then the good reviews become more scattered. Then literally three straight pages of bad reviews as reality sinks in.

Just thought that was interesting.

Then let the thread die.  I'm not interested in Criterion discussion, so I'd prefer it be in a thread I can safely ignore.

Wow, this is really weird behavior coming from the king of dragging things off topic and pointless ridiculous threads.

You do realize you're not a mod here, right? Seriously, just don't click on this thread and go post some fist pumps or caricatures that make fun of racial stereotypes in some of your Off-Topic threads. Please. Some of us enjoy talking about this kind of thing and prefer to do so without being griped at.

I think I've said this before: I think they should probably let The Criterion Collection handle the OT restoration.

This.

They always do a great job. But- (Insert Lucas rant here.)

Er... except for my Criterion edition DVD of Time Bandits.  And my Criterion edition DVD of Brazil.  Those are two terrible DVDs.  And fully half of the Criteriod DVDs that I have.

I guess "always" wasn't the right word since I only own two.

Star Tours
Time

Okay, so I have a friend that can get me into the Star Tours at the California disneyland two weeks before it officially opens. Don’t ask how we’re gonna do it (She works there and was able to get tickets.) I’ll be sure to give you guys all the exclusive deets here.

I’ll confirm/deny all the rumors like if there’s gonna be twelve different rides and if they’re still going to have the original.

EDIT: Some info here:

So this is what the  "all will be revealed" was all about?

- No deleted scene descriptions.

- No clips from the discs themselves.

- No new images.

Just a some new box art that most 10 year olds could've done, some stuff on a bonus disc that most have already seen and they expect people to buy this just because it says Blu-Ray on the box?

Can someone point me to the most up-to-date fan conversion of the OOT on DVD?

Main box cover artwork. (Click for larger image)

Not very impressed by this cover at all. It looks like a kid sketched it with pastels for a class project

Wait why are there two domes right next to eachother and shouldn't luke be the non ghost looking one since anakin wasn't there until he was older and why is- *Head 'asplode*

I'm really doubting that the cover artist has ever actually watched any of the films.
