FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!

I know there are many who are solely fans of Connor McCloud and his films, but I'd like an edit that fits into the continuity of the TV series and new comic books (which I have not read, but know include Duncan).

Highlander I would be a simple edit, just remove all references to "The Gathering" and "The Prize". The comics have explained Connor's unique Quickening to be a Dark one.

Highlander II and III could be combined into one movie. Use elements of Highlander II to create a James Bond esque opening. Maybe find a way to end with Connor coming out of an explosion looking young. Then Highlander III could be edited down to remove elements that are blatant rip offs of the original.

Highlander IV could be reedited to add elements from the rough cut, remove the repeated section of the sword fight, and replace the footage with the blurred JVC sign to what it was originally. The blurring effect, in most instances, is more distracting then the sign.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Highlander movies would work much better if edited together to flow as a single story.

I was never a fan of the TV series but obviously Duncan would be have to part of the edit if we're doing the first four movies, because he's the main characther in the fourth film. I would incorporate that (and use footage from the pilot episode of the TV series to give the backstory on how they meet), but I still keep the main focus on Conner because the movies are his story.

I'm not sure what you're saying about combining II and III into one film, because they tell completely different stories and each has a different explaination of what happened to Conner's wife from the first film. Highlander II takes place in 2024 or something like that and Highlander III takes place in 1995. In chronological order, the movies are I, III, IV, and then II. (of course, they all have flashback scenes going to back to earlier times) I'd pretty much have the "miniseries" edit follow that order, and remove the "Conner dies" ending of Highlander IV so he's still alive in the 21st century and is an old man by the 2030s, having won the "prize". Of course, the whole "Conner wins the prize" ending of the first movie has to be removed, because it basically makes all the sequels impossible, as well as the TV series.

I first got the idea for the edit in my head when I watched the "flashback" 1500's era in the Scottish Highlands scenes from the fourth film, and realized Chistopher Lambert and Beatie Edney's new scenes together would work very well with the original scottish scenes in the first movie.

I agree that it would be quite worthwhile to remove the redundant scenes in the third film, and to cut down the bizarre Highlander II stuff as much as possible. (and fix that stupid sign blur in Highlander IV as well)

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!

Awesome! A fan edit request thread. Guess it's time for me to stop lurking here and join in. There are a number of dream projects I'd love to do, if I had a equipment at home to do it. Anyone who is interested in working on one of these, please let me know. These films are long overdue for an overhaul.

1) HIGHLANDER: THE EPIC SAGA
As any viewer of the Highlander movies knows, it's really the only film "series" where each sequel seems to be set in its own internal universe. Supposedly the upcoming fifth film will actually follow up on the fourth, but those two are based on the TV version anyway, rather than the original film that started it all. I envision a massive re-edit that would re-arrange the first four movies in chronological order, and fix the flow of events so they all follow a massive storyline spanning from the 1500s to the 21st century. (Obviously this would require chopping out a great deal of the Highlander II storyline, changing the "Conner dies" ending of Highlander IV), etc. The final result would probably look like a 6 1/2 hour epic miniseries. Materials for this edit would include the Director's Cut of Highlander I, all three versions of Highlander II, both versions of Highlander III, and Highlander IV with all the extended scenes -- plus maybe some footage from the pilot episode of the TV series to establish the relationship between Conner and Duncan. There would need to be a reworking of the musical score to be internally consistant throughout the saga and perhaps some new title cards to move from time period to time period. Highlander I and Highlander IV's "flashback" scenes, though filmed 14 years apart, would probably match up pretty well since they recreated the same time period convincingly.

2) ROBOCOP 3: IN THE RAW
The third Robocop movie, reworked and re-edited to be a brutal, gritty, R-rated film like the first two. I believe such a concept was mentioned earlier in this thread. It might need some cut scenes from the first two Robocops to give it teeth, along with extra stuff from the 2000's Robocop TV mini-series.

3) Anne Rice's THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES: THE PURIST EDITION
Inspired by The Lord of the Rings Purist Edition, this would rework the movies to more closely follow the book. Interview with a Vampire would need some minor changes and new footage, but obviously Queen of the Damned would require a huge undertaking to completely alter the movie from the ground up. For starters, it would be split into two parts, "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned", so we'd have a trilogy of tales. All the delete scenes AND music videos on the DVD would have to be available just to have enough footage, and this would also require additional voice over work, text, music, and rearrangment of scenes and dialogue to fit the novel. You could even use stock footage of Brad Pitt so "Louis" makes a brief apperance in the sequels like he's supposed to. This re-edit would also have to link "Interview with a Vampire" to "The Vampire Lestat" so it actually feels like a followup story. Perhaps there could be a musical device, like "Sympathy for the Devil" used for the end of one film and the start of another, and then "Don't Fear the Reaper" used to link the end of "The Vampire Lestat" to "Queen of the Damned"

4) BATMAN BEGINS: A PREQUEL
As mentioned earlier in this forum, a "reworking" of Batman Begins to make it a prequel to Tim Burton's Batman series. Danny Elfman score, Carmine Falcone becomes Carl Grissom, the plot is reworked so Sgt. Gordon does not discover Batman's identity, etc. etc.. For those of you who scream that it's not meant to be a prequel, duh. Watch the original version of the movie. Some of here would like to imagine "what if?"

5) BATMAN & ROBIN: REIMAGINGED
Not what it sounds like. Most of this movie is actually Batman Forever, reimagined as a proper, more faithful sequel to "Batman Returns" with a Burtoneseque gothic mood and score. The film is even color corrected to remove the damn neon and retitled "Batman & Robin", with a few decent things from the real "Batman & Robin" (hopefully the De-Assified version) added for length." Like the "Batman Begins" prequel, this is to remove the Schumacher influence so the movie comes across as a Burton flick.

6) SCARY MOVIE 2.5 - UNCUT & UNCENSORED
The worst of the Scary Movie films is given a facelift and brought up to the standards of the Uncut third and fourth film. The unfunny scenes are removed, the funny cut scenes are added, the ending is changed, the whole film is corrected so the plot is actually coherant.

7) SAMARA: THE RING 2
The craptacular America version of "Ring 2" is recut and altered to resemble it's Japanese counterpart more. Lots of changes, and a couple of new scenes, and that awful CGI-deer is gone. Whew.

8) STAR TREK VI: THE EXTENDED EDITION
Rather than mostly deleted scenes, this movie incorporates much of the scenes from the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Flashback" into Star Trek VI, precisely to the point in the movie where they would occur. (This would be rather difficult to pull off, as it requires removing Captain Janeway from the picture and letterboxing the TV footage to match the film foootage perfectly)

9) EXORCIST BOX-SET: HYBRED EDITION
The four original Exorcist movies (The Exorcist, Exoricst II: The Hertic, Exorcist III: Legion, and Exorcist: The Beginning) are recut from various versions of their releases (including all three versions of Exorcist II and Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen compared with "The Exorcist: 25th Annivesary Edition), to create a "best of" version of all four films. The most extensive changes would be creating a hybred of Exorcist: The Beginning and "Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist" (almost entirely differently movies) and creating a movie that incorporates the best of both worlds. Also difficult to find (and never commerially released) was William Peter Blatty's original cut of "Legion", that would have to be blended with the existing "Exorcist III"
