Not sure if this is the right place for this but just want to say to everyone that I had a project of restoring the SW: 1997 Special Editions and it didn’t go that well when I started working on Empire and some real life things have caused me to not return to this website for a long time. I now want to say that I will be continuing edits, not that active but sometimes and the project of the 1997 Special Editions is continuing.

Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition (1997) restored
Time

Hello.
This is my restoration of the 1997 Special Edition of Star Wars.

I have used old film reels and fixed them (mostly). Then I have watched recordings of the Special Edition on VHS and on the theater. I have color corrected it so it would look like the Special Edition.

A New Hope Special Edition restoration is ready and available.

The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition has been cancelled and now you get the 2006 DVD bonus.

Return of the Jedi available!

PM for link(s). Ask for links only if you own an official release of The Star Wars Trilogy.

Star Wars: 2020 4K Disney Blu-ray Edition Remastered and corrected

The Blu-Ray edition of all 9 films are 4K ULTRA HD with HDR. They are higher bitrate than the Disney+ streams so therefore higher quality (and also NOT just copied from Disney+ with only subtitles added). The only difference is HDR10 compared to Disney+ Dolby Vision. It even says 4K UltraHD on the covers of both the single sets, trilogy sets and the complete collection box set, so do you even own the UHD Blu-Rays?

For example. The 2006 Bonus DVD theatrical versions cover said “widescreen” and “fullscreen” but they weren’t. And the 2020 Blu-ray is 4K HDR. The Sequel Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy is 4K UltraHD in the 2020 Blu-ray. There’s no doubt about it. But the Original Trilogy is HDR, not UltraHD.

Star Wars: 2020 4K Disney Blu-ray Edition Remastered and corrected
Time

Welcome!

This is the 2020 Blu-ray Edition Remastered and color corrected. (The color changes are hard to notice). I have made this because I have seen that 2011 Blu-ray Edition is slowly “dying” and nobody uses it that much and people have moved to 2020 Blu-ray Edition. I have corrected and remastered this edition for 2 reasons.

  1. The 2020 Blu-ray Edition is not 4K, only HDR10+
  2. 2020 Blu-ray Edition is really hard to find anywhere to be downloaded
So for example if you own the 2011 Blu-ray Edition and you want 2020 Blu-ray as mkv file but don’t find it anywhere, this is the right place for you!

I have turned the HDR10+ UHD to 4-8K UltraHD.

However I have made some changes for example updated effects or colour etc.

Sadly if your device storage has only like 5 GB left, you have to clear it very much. This edition is the entire trilogy and every movie file is at least 5GB. Also the movie files (just as the 2006 Bonus DVD files I got year ago) are mkv, not mp4. So your device has to support mkv files.

(By the way, TGWNN (That guy with no name) is working on a similar project of A New Hope, check his work out too!)

The Sources are only 2020 Blu-ray.

If you notice any issues while watching, please contact me.

How to get?

Before I can send you the download links, you need to make sure you own at least one movie official release of Original Trilogy.
ex. via Disney+, Blu-ray, GOUT DVD, 2004 DVD, LaserDisc, VHS etc.

Copyright of course, Disney, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios.

Hopefully you enjoyed!

After you are sure you own the official release, PM me and ask for links. 😃

I’ve added in the “A News Corporation Compamny®” in the opening logo

I don’t mean to be mean but why exactly did you put “A News Corporation Company®” back? That News Corporation doesn’t exist anymore and it is owned by Disney. (sorry if I sound like being mean).

Because it’s sentimental to the original version and the space looked kinda empty without it.

OK. I kind of agree.

That’s not what I meant. We have clearly added “we expect you to own an official release of Return of the Jedi before watching!”. But any fanedit of mine will not be on physical media, neither is it for sale.

What? read the rules again buddy:

pay attention to number 4.

I am not going to click that link, sorry.

also some Special Edition footage is included in Harmy’s Despecialized Edition and 4K77.

name some!

I don’t we’ll be getting any evidence of these incorrect claims.

Everyone has their opinions. I wouldn’t have posted this post if I was lying. But it is perfectly normal to not like my edit. : )

This isn’t a matter of opinion. it either is or isn’t.

Why so mean? Have I done something to you?

We also noticed 9 Special Edition pictures and sound effects in 4K83. We immediately cut them out and replaced them with 2006 Bonus DVD clips.

Sorry, but that is impossible. I don’t know what you and your friends are seeing but 4k83 is taken direct from a 35mm pre-SE print so there is zero chance that there is any special edition changes in there. Could you post some screenshots?

I can make a Docs file where are screenshots. But I remember clearly when editing that there were clearly some Special Edition footage. I am absolutely not sure if it was OTD83 or 4K83 but its color matched original 4K83.

OTD83 is a theatrical reconstruction that states that is is not a 100% faithful recreation as it used the UHD Blu-ray as its source. So it is more likely that you are using that as a source as 4k83 is 100% the 1983 pre-SE version

The colors are not OTD83, but 4K83. Its colors do not match OTD83 at all. And yes, I know OTD83 doesn’t remove every change. But I cannot be sure if the Special Edition footage is from 4K83 or OTD83.

What is OTRD83?

OTRD83 is my edit of Return of the Jedi. It is like my Unaltered Cut A New Hope but this edit is mostly based on OTD83 and 4K83.
Name OTRD83 comes from:
Original Trilogy Restored & Despecialized 1983. Every clip which is taken from 4K83 is color-corrected. Every OTD83 clip is edited to match 4K83 color-corrected clips. The film video was edited by me and my friends. We also noticed 9 Special Edition pictures and sound effects in 4K83. We immediately cut them out and replaced them with 2006 Bonus DVD clips.

All Sources
2020 Blu-ray Edition
Disney+
Harmy’s Despecialized Edition v3.0
4K83
OTD83
2006 Bonus DVD

30% of this version comes from Disney+ and 2020 Blu-ray Edition.

We expect you to own an official release of Return of the Jedi before watching!!

PM me for link if you have issues with Docs file.

you’re not allowed to post direct links to your edit like that.

Technically I am. Harmy’s Despecialized Edition v3.0 Return of the Jedi also posted direct download links on Google Docs.
