The A-Team Broadcast Restoration (Released)

MeTV has started airing The A-Team every weekday, and unfortunately the episodes are all missing their teasers.

I think, sadly, that’s the case with pretty much all broadcasts or streaming these days.

I’ve just completed reconstructing another two season 3 trailers. 16 down, 8 to go 😊

I hope I can keep up the enthusiasm to work through season 2!

No one has confirmed yet if the same music edits are present

Hopefully someone will clarify soon. It’s been confirmed that Murdoch singing Satisfaction in A Small and Deadly War is present, as it was on the UK set.
I don’t hold out much hope that the music edits on the UK set have been presented correctly but I guess we have to wait and see if someone confirms.

Yeah as SpacemanDoug saying it is probably dual mono. You have to actually listen to it to be able to tell.
If you want me to help out with checking drop me a PM but given it’s the 2 part version I think it’s even more likely it’s dual mono. Appreciate you checking though 😃

Actually, if anyone can access the Peacock site, could they please check if Knight of the Juggernaut or Burial Ground are in Stereo?

It’s pretty unlikely but worth checking. If you need any help to check how to easily identify if they’re stereo or not just let me know.

I just downloaded episode 1 of Juggernaut part 1 an the media info shows 2 channels

Where are you seeing Knight Rider on Peacock? I’ve just checked the app on Sky and done a general search for Knight Rider and can’t see it anywhere at the moment.

This is where I found it on my computer.

Ah OK thanks. Looks like it’s US only. I can get to the site via VPN but don’t have an account so can’t log into see them. No great issue as I have them uncut anyway I was just curious lol

I guess it’s one of those things where if no-one is really complaining to them then they won’t bother spending the time (i.e. money) doing it themselves.

I had a brief conversation on Facebook with someone who says the season 2 trailers were destroyed in the fire but I am not sure if that again is speculation or that they know for certain.

I’m wondering if it has something to do with a fire that apparently happened at Universal some years ago. Apparently many film reels/spools were lost in that. Could it be that the copies that were scanned for HD are the only ones known to exist? Or is it just that they were being lazy and just took the first ones they came across without paying any attention to the content.

Maybe the same masterings but similar in the case of Lee Harvey Oswald in Quantum Leap between the US and UK BDs it’ll be different content from the international releases

I can still keep track on forum sites if you want me to

That would be great thanks. The teasers take a few hours each to reconstruct so although I’m happy to keep doing them I don’t want to carry on if there’s no need.

holy shit, well I’m curious as to how these will turn out regarding edits previously made on the DVD releases

the teasers might still be missing though

Oh wow! In that case I’ll pause again after I finish Timber 😄
I will be pleasantly surprised if they have the teasers and it will be interesting to see if they have any music edits. Maybe even the Jumpin Jack Flash scene reinstated.
Question is, is anyone here going to buy it?! I can’t afford to pay for it again in the hope of it maybe being complete.
If it turns out it is then that’s a different matter

Looks like the french blu rays are missing pre credits on S2 and S3 and jumping jack flash from the pilot is not included and slightly trimmed a few seconds more

Thanks for clarifying. I’m not surprised, since I’m expecting they are all using the same HD masters. Interesting that there’s slightly more cut from the JJF scene though

Yes, sorry there was also Knight of the Drones in 2 parts rather than the movie. I forgot that as on the UK set which I have it is the full movie version.

That episode is missing Prince music track on the DVD but this is included on the UK Bluray (I would guess by accident).

It is also the episode that has the original credits unique to the story replaced by the standard s3 credits for all releases that have happened.

Well that is good news ☺️
I suppose the next question is, how familiar are you with the episodes to know if anything is now missing that was on the DVDs…
I know the Knight Rider set had some additional cuts on the Blu-ray that weren’t missing from the DVDs.

What exactly is missing on the Knight Rider BD sets that were on DVD?

To the best of my knowledge the John Cougar Mellencamp tracks on Give Me Liberty… and White Line Warriors were present on the DVDs but not the Blu-ray.

Beyond that I’m not sure if there was anything more.

Wasn’t there this episode where it was in its two part version that originally aired as a two hour episode despite it being the original two hour format on the old DVDs?

Yeah I saw that review and it’s quite misleading - for example saying the UK set is Dolby Digital when it’s DTS-HD.

I’m sure at least one person somewhere has bought it but I’m guessing they don’t use this forum. Would be really good to know if it’s truly complete so I don’t waste my time on any more teasers!

Just to be clear I’ve only done half of season 3 so far. Season 2 will be next if still needed.

I love The Fall Guy too but don’t have access to anything other than the UK DVD seasons 1&2 which I own, plus various off-air recordings of seasons 3-5 that I’ve found online.
I kick myself that I didn’t record them all from UK Bravo years ago. I recorded all of Knight Rider thinking it would never get released on DVD but skipped The Fall Guy.
So I have had off air, DVD and Blu-ray of Knight Rider, but not a single complete set of The Fall Guy.
Ah well, you live and learn!

Mexican Slayride now up in the usual place.
This was a tricky restoration and I’m not 100% happy with it, but will have to do unless a better source turns up.

Now to crack on with more of HD versions of the pre-credits teasers from season 3. Soul destroying but worth it in the end (well for me at least!)

I know sometimes they use scenes not in the episode…FYI.

Yes, that’s part of the challenge and why they take so long.
I use the HD source wherever it exists, and have to resort to upscaled DVD for the bits that don’t.
The real challenge is ensuring you don’t miss a part that actually exists in the episode 😃

Mexican Slayride has a teaser, its an NBC narrated one similar to Knight Rider. Can It be recreated? Sure. I dont see any scenes that were not in the episode other than the black screens for the characters and the bubbles with their photos at the end

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3zhzR_j0nw

Thanks for the heads up with that!
Although it might look easy, there are a lot of scenes with text overlayed.
Recreating a “plain” version without the text is straightforward, but I don’t have the technical knowhow to recreate the text faithfully. If someone does and wants to do a combined effort just let me know.

The other consideration is that the audio is very poor. Some clean will help but I can’t work mircales. It seems that the quality improves greatly in the last 5 seconds or so - shame it’s not like that for the whole trailer!

I have been out of the restoration arena for a little while for various reasons. Not sure when I’ll be back in full swing but it’s definitely on my list to finish the Season 3 teaser reconstructions. I’ve got about half way through the season so far.

I noticed there was a US BluRay release planned. Did it go ahead, and I’m assuming they were the same versions as the UK releases?

Info: Discussion on 80's cartoons on DVD....bad aliasing (jaggies)!

I’ve got the PAL UK Boxset of He-Man,but I also have a fan made restoration of all episodes that uses (I believe) the UK set.
I’m not a huge fan of the show so my knowledge of individual episodes isn’t great. I just dip into it now and again. However if there’s an episode, or even scene in a particular episode, that is known to be troublesome, I’m happy to take a screen grab for comparison purposes.
