I agree, the original cut is the best version. Also the Tartan 2nd release for the UK was the NTSC version. Here is a link in play.com

This is the best version I have seen.

honestly i like the non-special edition better

for some reason when i watched the special edition it seemed vastly different and i didn't like the feeling...

it wasn't as fast and a few scenes (especially the added flashbacks) became redundant or unnecessary.

i thought my take on the differences was weird, tho, because i usually like extended/uncut/dir cut of everything, eheh

That's good news! Then I won't buy the extended version (must be the first time). I had the same with the last of the mohicans. I thought the director's could would be some sort of extended version but it felt like a completely different film.

I think most are locked. But it is now legal in the Netherlands to have your dvd player made region free (it used to be illegal but stores would make them region free anyway). But when you buy a dvd player now you can have the store make it region free for 5 or 10 bucks extra, sometimes it's free of charge.

LOTR Trilogy... all three into one film...

Dude if you butt hurts after only three hours, how do you think it's going to feel after... LOTR trilogy in one film and STAR WARS ep I-VI in one film

I had a demo disc that had both PAL and NTSC clips. I've played that disc in a lot of different dvd players (from ultra cheap to expensive) and I have never seen a dvd player that could not play both the PAL and NTSC clips. Maybe in europe all (or most) PAL players can also play NTSC but maybe in the US NTSC players can rarely play PAL.

EDIT: The disc was region free, I made it myself.

Lightsaber Goofs...
Time
Because the emperor says he wants Luke to strike him down (his journey towards the dark side will be compleet). It would be majorly stupid to try and hit him then, wouldn't it? He wants a confrontation with vader as in empire.

EDIT: That's how I see it... But I don't think Luke strikes to try and kill vader. Besides he can't redeem vader by killing the emperor, it would probably have the opposite effect. And there's no need for vader to protect the emperor. I think the emperor could easily deal with luke himself. Blasting him away with lightening or something...

The question is not if Luke's saber is behind vader's. After all Luke swings his saber from upper right down to the left. I think everybody agrees Luke's saber is behind vader's and closest to the emperor. The discussion was if that should be the case. If you think Luke wants to hit the emperor then his saber shouldn't be behind vader's, because vader could not have blocked it. If you believe (as I do) he wants to hit vader then there's nothing wrong.

Question regarding sound sync issues
Time
You can demultiplex the vobs, load the files in dvd-lab and use "tool > audio delay" to sync the audio to the video. Dvd-lab will make a new audio file synced to you video. You can use the video file and the new audio file to rebuild the dvd (dvd-lab also allows negative delays).

EDIT: I hope the difference in sync is the same troughout the movie otherwise this won't work.

But why drop the bomb on a city? And why 2?

We would not have any terrorist problem if our governments weren't so stupid. The terrorist actions we are facing are only reactions to our own foreign policy. You should wonder what makes people so frustrated that they are prepared to blow themselves up and take as many people as they can with them.

I don't think it's weird Iran and North Korea want nulcear weapons. Maybe their fear of being attacked is justified after what happened to Iraq. If both sides have nuclear weapons maybe there's balance...
I would not be surprised at all if Bush decides to bomb nuclear facilities in Iran. He thinks he can solve all problems by bombing. Result: only more violence.

edit: We all know the only country ever to actually use atomic bombs. I believe Japan was already beaten. But if you want to throw the damn thing to make a country surrender, why would you have to show it's power by throwing it on a city??? And wasn't 1 enough?
