Just to clarify, I didn't use that logic as a reason why I believe in God personally. That's an entirely different thing. But it's just something for others to think about. I know there's a God, but if for some reason there wasn't one, what do I have to lose? I was a better person for believing in God anyhow, and affected those around me.

If on the other hand, you are an atheist and there does turn out to be heaven and hell... then boy, you screwed up.
What you are saying is a person who does not believe in God can never be as good as a person who does, apparently. I'm sure I'm living a much better life than a lot of christians. And if there turns out to be a heaven and hell (which I don't believe) then I don't believe I would go to hell if I've lived a good life.

By the way, where does the concept of a hell come from. I don't know much about religion but I think the bible only very vaguely discribes something only once or twice that can be regarded as a hell.

Another thing- I don't care how far you take the macro evolution theory. There has to have been a point where there was a jump from no life to life. It is scientically impossible to have happened by itself. People will sidestep this question and other questions, but how on Earth was life created? I've heard so many "the lightning struck the primordial sea and caused the amino acids to...." etc. etc. I just have to laugh now. I won't even get into what a stretch it is that humans, animals and plants all come from a common ancestor. This is not science, and it's far more improbable than the existence of God. Seriously.
It's not scientifically impossible. And you laughing at the theory isn't very mature. I'm not laughing at your believe now am I? If it seems so strange to you then where does your God come from. You don't believe that life could have happened on itself but you do believe a God came out of nowhere and magically made everything.

1. If there isn't God (and afterlife), then how would you find out he doesn't exist? You'd be nothingness.
2. Nobody's ever going to prove that God doesn't exist. Because he does exist.
3. It's not a purpose I think I have, it's a purpose I know I have. I know that God exists, partly due to personal experience. And that's something you can't understand without living it.

I meant if I would find out before I die.
No you don't know he exists. You think you know he does. It's a purpose you think you know you have.
Number 2 is a very strange arguement... Besides I'm not trying to disprove. And you can't prove he does exist. So it's useless.

Life is a very quick thing. You could be killed tomorrow, or the next day, or next week. You have absolutely no clue. And if you "change your mind" just to cover yourself, and not because you believe, then you might not be gaining as much as you think.

Wow! I'm absolutely not changing my mind because of fear of hell or anything. It would certainly not be to cover myself. I meant if for some reason (an experience or revelation) I would change my mind. But I doubt it.

EDIT: I'm not going into any further discussion/arguments about trying to prove/disprove any theories. I liked the conversation with Coov but this conversation is getting out of hand. You believe what you believe. I believe what I believe. That's that, probably nothing will change it.

I believe if you live a good life, being good for your fellow man and this planet you have nothing to fear no matter what. And I'm happy for all religious people and their faith, it probably gives them great comfort and a happy life.

Info: Auto-correction from SE colours to GOUT colours (lots of information)
Time
In photoshop you can record an action (I forgot how but it's very simple). Then you can choose file > automate > batch and select the recorded action and apply it to a whole lot of images.

EDIT: Recording an action:
Make sure the action window is visible (select window > actions).
Open the image(s) you want to correct.
Create a new action

Record the action/correct the image.
After that you can use this recorded action for the batch option.

Ehmm... I really don't get what you're saying here. If God doesn't exist it seems to me Christians loose everything. If there's no God then there's probabably no heaven. It seems to me if you felt your whole life you were being guided by God and then you find out he doesn't exist you seriously doubt yourself. Away is your purpose you thought you had.

And if an atheists finds out there is a God? He looses everything? I don't believe in God but if for some reason I change my mind I loose everything? I think most Christians will say I've finally seen the light. So I'm not loosing anything. I'm gaining a whole lot!

The painting doesn't look very convincing.

The carvings are a different story. But I know nothing about them. It's interesting though and I'll look for some other info on the internet.

Mistakes are easily made and the carving of what looks like a triceratops looks more like a horned chameleon to me:

I also believe that dinosaurs and man roamed earth together (there are even fossils to prove it).

Hey, that's not fair. I should be the one using fossils to backup my story
I'm not sure what you mean though. Fossils prove dinosaurs AND man roamed the earth together? That's not tru.

Since I'm not religious it's obvious I don't believe man and dinosaurs roamed the earth together. But one simple fact backs this up. There are many many cave drawings of the animals man encountered; sabertooth tigers, mammoths, bears, etc (basically all big animals we know that lived in the same time period from fossil have been drawn). Now there is not a single drawing of a dinosaur. If a person encounters all those animals and draws them it would be very very unlikely when he faces a t-rex and says, nah, I'm not going to draw that one.

These new eyes have made God tangible in my life in ways I really can not explain. It is not emotional, it is nothing physical... just everything just makes so much more since with life. It is like every single question that I never knew to ask was answered. Sure there are several unanswered questions, but I am satisfied.

Thanks for the questions!

Thank you for trying to explain, Coov. So it's not emotional of physical. Is it comparable to a very strong feeling somewhere inbetween? Because then I can probably understand a bit what it is like.

I have 2 more questions, I hope you don't mind.

Do you believe dinosaurs ever roamed this planet?

How old do you think the earth is?

Why do atheists care about relegion: video.

Coov, you speak of "the reality of God's inevitability".
Why do you think God is inevitable?

Also you say "if I did not already know the Truth".
How do you know the truth? (Or, why do you think you know the truth?)

And, "I have since opened my eyes to the Truth and Majesty of Christ".
How do you open your eyes? What do you experience?

According to one of your messages you weren't religious all (most of) your life. What changed this?

Personally, I don't believe in (any) God. I don't think there's "life" after death.
By the way, I'm not trying to attack you in any way. I'm just trying to understand.

So to what extend do you think God controls us?

Help Wanted: A request from babyhum: 'Ultimate Sci Fi Top 10' on UK TV
Time
I'm sorry if I've caused conflict - but I don't mean to insult the members here, and I refuse to believe that getting a copy of something which you can legally choose to pay for is anything but freeloading. I said the same thing to people who claimed they would keep their VHS copies of SW, skip the OUT release and wait for the X0. Sharing fan edits and genuine preservations is a great idea. "Sharing" (ie freeloading) off stuff you have a choice to pay for isn't.
I'm sure lots of people can't receive the channel if they wish to pay for it or not.

"I just got a new DVD, would you like me to burn you a copy?"
Sure, if I can't buy it in stores here.

How about I share my copy of Windows XP with you all?
No, we just want you serial number

Now I'm not that familiar with the laws of the UK, so forgive me if I'm wrong - but isn't recording for yourself legal, but making copies of that recording for friends illegal? So that would mean that, legally, it's called freeloading.

I don't know. So what, you can buy recorders. Maybe you shoud try and stop that.

Now lets take it back a notch... isn't it understood that to get a fan preservation, or a fan edit that you should, where possible, own a legal copy. Is that not the general understanding with the "sharing" of the fan-edits and preservations here, isn't that the "spirit of things"??

Yes it is.

Baby Hum has said that he "can't afford" to have a Sky subscription (he then went and said something else that appears to contradict this) - but let's be honest here, if I can't afford a Porsche - then what right would have to expect to have a Porsche?

If he can't afford it and get's it in another way does sky loose money? What's the big deal!

So even though baby hum has come on, publicly stated he is choosing not to buy this product, but he would like for someone to burn him a copy - no one except me seems to see a problem with this. Well we all have to choose how to spend our money. If baby hum would rather spend his money on life's other luxuries then on pay-tv, how is it that he can still expect to enjoy the benefits of pay-tv?

Because he will share it with others who can't get it. He only asks for 1 program, not the entire package.

Boris. Did you ever cross the speedlimit? Did you ever walk through a red light at 2 in the morning when there was no other traffic on the road. You never had any illegal software on your computer, ever? You never pissed in the bushes? You don't record things yourself? Come on, I'm SURE you tried some drugs! DID YOU EVER DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL?

OUT: PAL or NTSC?
Time
Because of this thread I was looking for some information about the history of the PAL and NTSC systems. I also found this:

"The NTSC format—or more correctly the M format (see broadcast television systems)—consists of 29.97 interlaced frames of video per second. Each frame consists of 484 lines out of a total of 525 (the rest are used for sync, vertical retrace, and other data such as captioning). PAL uses 625 lines, and so has a considerably better picture quality."

Is this correct? So NTSC doesn't use all of the lines for picture? Does PAL use all the lines for picture?

LFL {GAG ORDER MODE]

So Zion also has sources at LFL? That's interesting. I remember him saying some time before it came out he would buy the 12/9 release. He said he would buy it because he believed it would be the only chance to own the OOT on dvd. But something changed his mind because after it came out he said he didn't buy it. Maybe he knows the same thing Raul is claiming.

Info Wanted: Anyone going to combine the SE and 2006 OT DVD?
Time
True. But I'm not trying that. There are a few general things you can change very easy to make it look much better like the oversaturation, brightness and too much blue. That's all I want.
I think it would be nice to rip the dvds to your hdd, rename the vobs and copy the script and dlls to the same directory and tweak the movies into somthing YOU like.

Info Wanted: Anyone going to combine the SE and 2006 OT DVD?
Time
I'm currently experimenting with Empire (because I think it's much easier than Star Wars) to test how it's gonna work out. I keep the number of frames exactly the same as the OUT. I'm doing all this with avisynth. First making al seperate avisynth files for different scenes or parts of scenes. After that the individual scenes can be color corrected, resized, etc.

So what you need on your hdd is the rips of the 2 dvds of the 9/12 release. When I'm ready with the avisynth script I could give a link so anyone can download these files as an example if you never used avisynth or as a raw version you can colorcorrect and modify yourself. All you need is the PAL 9/12 release (ripped to your hdd). (I'm from PAL country so even marioxb should be okay with that!)
