Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Thanks guys :-)

Yeah. After seeing the great clean-up job Laserschwert did on Puggo's PSB sample, I asked him if he could clean up the JSC flyby shot for me. He sent me a few versions with different settings and I finished the clean-up in AE and then I had a smear-free version, which was cleaner looking then the GOUT, so I didn't use GOUT at all. I also tweaked the colours of the JSC clip and then used it as a chroma layer for the whole shot to make the colours more even.

I don’t know if it’s better quality but I still have an X9 capture of the JSC. If you want to use it for your project you can have it.

Hi guys, could you please check this? I watched ANH and found two glitches in SW720pAVCHD 00000.m2ts

01:29:01
Chewbacca running

01:54:06
Millenium Falcon

At these 2 points there are 2 slight jumps. Like it is missing frames. It's right in the middle of the scenes. Have you seen this? It's very subtle. You have to pay close attention. It's like missing one frame only.

Help: looking for... 1997 SE NTSC capture with bitperfect 5.1 audio
Time

Hello,

Is there a capture of the '97 SE available somwhere with a bitperfect capture of the 5.1 audio? So not a recompressed but the raw audio. I’m looking for both the video (quality doesn’t matter) and the raw audio, so I don’t have to sync audio only to video. I know Wookiegroomer sowhere wrote he has a capture like this but I don’t know if it is available somewhere.

And even after all that manual IVTC'ing you still have some shit frames, I really hated this LD Set personally(at least from a working with it point of view) but I am glad I finally got my V2 set done, it was one of the projects from my past that bothered me, so how exactly were you going to share your caps with a potential project finisher?

I guess HDD.

I ofcourse still have the raw X9 captures of the JSC. I'm happy to somehow give them to someone who can finish the project.

Are those files 20+ GB's each, uncropped and non deinterlaced? is this the RAW you are saying? because I am SURE you are well aware of the whole manual process of IVTC'ing this video and all the shit frames thrown in throughout, this to me is the hardest about this set, each film has some of these shit frames that need to be replaced.

Now you do realize that there are going to be a few here that are going to say, "I want", "I want", I could probably already guess who they will be, but read what Arnie.d said, "who can FINISH the project".

It's about 50 GB for each movie, uncropped, interlaced. I used huffyuv for lossless compression. Yes, manual IVTC is a lot of work (I only did this for Star Wars though). The constant changing of the interlace pattern throughout the movie is really shitty. When I was working on this I IVTCed the movie 5 times in virtualdub (since there are 5 possible settings) and I then reconstructed the movie by copying and pasting the correctly IVTCed parts.

If I will ever capture an LD again it will be the French Coffret Trilogie because it's PAL so no need for IVTC :)

For years now, I'm only looking at frames of Star Wars. It would be so nice to just watch the movie instead of searching for artifacts or checking brightness, colors, sharpness, haloing, ringing, grain, noise, rainbowing, audio sync, etc. Making a transfer really spoils the movie sometimes. I can barely watch any movie anymore without checking the quality.

I'm sorry I was never able to finish a transfer. It's just that I began enthusiastically but in the end simply didn't have the time. Real life was catching up with me.

I don't even have the V8 version anymore myself. I'm kind of curious about the rainbowing in this version.

I ofcourse still have the raw X9 captures of the JSC. I'm happy to somehow give them to someone who can finish the project. However, the JSC isn't the holy grail. It has in my view 2 big problems. One is the rainbowing which I think isn't a capture artifact but was on the source itself. And second the ghosting effect, which might be a capture artifact, although I adjusted the sharpness of the capture card to minimize it.

Sorry for being away for so long, real life takes its toll. Im going to try and get some material uploaded for you to look at as fast as i can. For the time being the player is not that far off, still trying to get the best capture card for raw avi. The Pinnacle Dc30 card compresses the stream and i dont like the compromise after all the hours spent.

I guess you want to go for uncompressed capture. What about this card?

http://www.pluggedin.tv/sweetspot/

IIRC it's the same as the PDI deluxe card used for the X0 captures

Do you have The Special Collection, btw?

I switched my newsgrabber around that time as Grabit gave me lot's of corrupt file's. I switched to AltBinz and it almost never gives me any corrupt file's. So maybe it's a plan to check out your corrupt download through another grabber!

Normally I use newsleecher in combination with eweka, but I also tried Altbinz with a different provider. And yes, files deteriorate. You won't be able to download anymore.

I asumme that you're also from the Netherlands as you use a typical dutch usenet provider. I have all 6 BR discs on my NAS so if you're not to far from Rotterdam you could come over and copy them on a HD!

 You've got a PM.

No; search for Wookie Groomer.  They were reposted in June/July, I think.

Only Episode II and II were reposted. I downloaded Ep I. Ep II and III I will download. I think Ep VI is still possible because someone posted extra pars. But IV and V are impossible to complete. Does someone still have the rar files of Ep IV and V and is willing and able to upload some rar files and or extra par files? Or repost the whole thing if that's easier?

I just took a peak on the newsgroups but they are all there, maybe you have to switch newsgroup provider or use another indexer....

i have used binsearch on wookie groomer, and the oldest compleet one is 456 days ago posted.

WKR,

The problem is not that I can't find them, it's the downloading part. Anything older than 350 days or so comes in beyond repair (either from a.b.starwars or a.b.hdtv). I tried 3 different newsgroup providers all with over 600 days retention.

No, I didn't test the comb filters because of limited time and because the X9 owner had a lot of experience and said the composite out was much better for image quality.

I'm also an X9 owner, and while the results using the composite output might look better at first glance in some circumstances, I don't recommend using it.

The X9, like most other players with both composite & S-Video output, does not have direct composite (also called pure composite) output.  This means that instead of the signal path being disc->TBC->output, it's disc->TBC->3DYC->recombined signal-> output.  So the composite signal is just the S-Video signal recombined back into composite.

 Hey Buster,

According to Kurtis/X9 service manual:

LD-> A/D -> TBC/Frame Memory/DVNR -> D/A -> composite. For the S-Video Output it is LD-> A/D -> TBC/Frame Memory/DVNR -> 3D Y/C/(D/A) -> Y/C output.

So although the X9 composite output isn't "pure" it's also not combined Y/C. For my capture all filters were switched off.

GOUT image stabilization - Released
Time

Also something to consider to make the best set of all three movies, I noticed a difference in sharpness when I was playing with the GOUT a long time ago. I think The NTSC version of Star Wars is better than the PAL version and the PAL versions of Empire and Jedi are better than the NTSC version (it could also be the other way around). Anyway, you probably want Star Wars from one region and Empire and Jedi from the other region (ofcourse turn whatever PAL version used into NTSC and use Belbucus audio).

.: The X9 Project :. (Released)

I'm patiently awaiting an update from G-force concerning improved anti rainbowing. For Star Wars the script is ready except for this possibly improved rainbowing. When I have that I just have to render (which will take about a day I think) and encode (12 hours or so). And ofcourse the dvd will have to be authored. I'm thinking of choosing my own I frames for scene selection (so I can precisely choose where a scene starts). Empire and Jedi still have to be IVTCed.
