I often wonder who pat man 2 was.
FWIW, it looks like the dirt-cleaning is going to be a piece-of-cake for PFClean!
Well, I've been here for nearly one year. Yay!
.

.
... and my TV is still not calibrated, and I still have no idea how many people have signed the petition.
WTF pat man? Get on that shit.
Were any of the NTSC VHS releases struck from truly unique masters?
That is, were any mastered from a source not used for a Laserdisc release, for instance?
The simplest solution is to use the SCSelect() Avisynth function.
Bingowings: My wife reviewed the pilot. Enjoy!

I'm planning to TooT.
lol
That's awesome of you, DJ.
Thanks!
I'd be interested in this as well.
"site:originaltrilogy.com XXXX" on Google is a better search anyway. I use it all the time.
This bug still haunts OT.com. Please fix it, Jay!

Ady, is it possible for you to give us an update on what's left to be done before the release?
I'd be interested in this as well.
Any updates, Adywan?
I'm bumping this up for you. I'm interested as well.

Ready to do a median or average or TOOT script?
My LX-900s (I own two) are both still being serviced by Duncan of laserdiscservice.com.
I'll be able to start capturing when I get 'em back.
I'm planning to TooT.
A new transfer of this is coming soon.
I've learned a lot over the past year. It's now time to do it right.
I'm now convinced that the 1985 CAV (Standard Play) P&S LDs are the most accurate "official" color sources for ANH and TESB.
Even if they're not... I certainly think they look the best.
FWIW, I now own three copies of Technidisc ANH. :-D

I've been capturing all of the other Star Wars laserdiscs that I own. That is complete now. I think what I am going to do is put the raw files on usenet. I so far have captured:
JSC trilogy
DC trilogy
SE trilogy
The Phantom Menace
Wow, cool! Thanks!

The NXP SAA7164's 3D comb filter is way too strong. There's significant checkerboarding and ghosting at sharp shot-changes!
... and by "ghosting" I mean real temporal-NR-looking ghosts.
How can you tell that it's a result of the comb filter vs. an actual noise reduction filter feature of the chip?
I explicitly disabled noise reduction in the Capture Filter Settings and checked several times to make sure it was disabled prior to writing that post.
(Interestingly, the card gives you the ability to disable the 3D Comb Filter from the same dialog.)
I also viewed it in a dumb DirectShow capture program that has no noise reduction feature of its own (WM9Cap).

WHY YOU SO SCARY?
Incorrect.

The SQZ looks better IMO.

Good link, looks super analogue and low in detail (not a bad thing, well the analogue part) but not close to a demo I had in the 90's
I think the problem is that the guy took images of his TV with a digital camera.
It probably looks orders-of-magnitude better than those samples.
