One thing I have always found unfortunate about religion is the way most everyone believes their version of "the truth" is the correct version.

well naturally, If I believe X, I am going to believe X is the truth.   If I didn't believe it X was the truth, how can I say I believe X?

It's a style of thinking that very religious peoplethrough no fault of their own—may not be accustomed to operating under.

People such as my self tend to believe that everything (with the sole exception of proofs in pure Mathematics) is falsifiable.

All of my beliefs (again, giving exception to proofs in pure Mathematics) are therefore subject to change given a sufficient body of scientific evidence.

My head is filled with probablys and maybes and is subject to change at any time.

* It's worthwhile to note that I'm a Tooth Fairy Agnostic, so I really do go all-the-way with this.

What if it's not from the negatives?

I hope it's not.

What's wrong with it being from the negatives?

I fear that with the rumors of it being permanently altered the probability of Disney accidentally leaving something in is non-zero. The chance of this is zero if an internegative, interpositive, or even a release print is used.

Someone on Reddit expressed his hope that this character name is not some reference to another JJ Abrams film or show. I heartily echo that sentiment.

LOr San Tekka

Isn't that kind of a stretch?

(I mean, if LST meant something I might believe it, but this might as well have been LOSATE, or RNA.)

Not mine: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/3m6d1l/max_von_sydow_character_lor_san_tekka_msw/cvcgi3k

We need eleven 5TB HDDs in order to have a backup as well as a way to distribute things US-side to people working on the restoration.

I don't have the money right now.

If we don't get these HDDs, then anyone interested in working on the restoration will have to coordinate with poita to send their HDDs to him and I don't think this is something he's interested in doing. Plus, we need a backup and can't risk having just a single point of failure.

The cheapest 5TB HDDs available at the moment are ~$130. This means we need to raise $1,430 in order to make this happen.

PM me if you're interested in helping. No donations will be accepted until the goal is reached. Thanks!

I can't find the pic right now, but this guy mentions it in the text at the bottom of his post. http://originaltrilogy.com/FORUM/topic.cfm/TPM-1080p-Theatrical-Preservation/post/781029/#TopicPost781029

I'm putting together a team to work on restoring these scans.

I need at the very minimum:

  1. A colorist

  2. Two dirt cleaners

  3. An artist to fix really bad (e.g., big scratches) damage, just in case

  4. A QA person with deep knowledge about the film

Volunteering will obviously get you early access to the scans, but you must have the skills, free time, and equipment necessary to do the work.

I plan on wearing a few different hats. Send me a PM if you're interested.

"What was incredible from my point of view was how apparently easily they flipped back into these roles," says Abrams. "I knew for a fact, for example, that Harrison Ford was going to be in this movie, but I couldn't be certain that Han Solo would be. Meaning, I hadn't seen Han Solo return after nearly 40 years, either. And it wasn't until we got on set that I got my answer. It was a remarkable thing to see how effortlessly Harrison Ford became Han Solo again."
