Is it a bad sign that they're only taking two years apeice for the new films, or was that the same for the other six and they just took off a year in between production of films?

IIRC, pre production on AOTC was underway as TPM was in theaters. The same for ROTS as AOTC was released.

Also, they seem to be working on scripts for the sequels well in advance. That makes planning the films a lot easier.

Your first sentence does not reassure me.

I heard that the end of the film is Rey bringing Luke his lightsaber on this island in Ireland where he is in exile/hiding/meditating/whatever.

 That's cool.

They look a lot like the Whaligoe steps in Scotland.

So this is the metaphorical rat hole where Luke's hiding? Pretty.

Maybe in the future people will refer to this bit of Skellig Michael as "Luke's Rock." I'd be rather pleased if that were a thing.

Why are we not complaining about this?

http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/11/9309335/see-the-star-wars-scenes-shared-between-the-two-trilogies

Have we lost our vitriol? A video supposedly showing the "like poetry, it rhymes" that could also just prove that "Lazy Lucas, was Lazy" is making the rounds, "proving" that the PT was "reverent" to the OT because the director only has so many ways he can shoot a medium/closeup scene.

Why would we complain? I thought the music in the video was quite relaxing, and it did a good job of juxtaposing similar shots from the different trilogies. Is it usually lazy filmmaking? Yes. Could it ALSO be poetic? Absolutely.

As much as I like picking apart the problems of the prequels, it is not a vitriolic exercise for me, and hatred isn't going to bring anyone around to my side. Enthusiasm for what I DO enjoy just might.

Spoken too sensibly for many on this board, I fear. But I approve of the principle.

I'd far, far rather have had good prequels than the ones we have now, but I sure as hell don't want some future film mogul following GL's example with the OOT by trying to stamp them out of existence.

When did you realize the Prequels sucked?

Phantom Menace: I tried convincing myself that it was a good movie when I was walking home after seeing it. Then when it came out on VHS and everyone wanted to skip to the Darth Maul lightsaber battle.

Clone Wars: When I had no desire to see it after it was out on DVD.

Revenge of The Sith: During seeing it in the theater, at the end when I heard Darth Vader scream "NOOOOOOO!"

It's sad that the last of your points now has to be specified as belonging to ROTS.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

Typical 21st century release strategy -- put a blockbuster movie out several days ahead of time in Europe to maximize box office receipts for opening weekend. Make the sales numbers look good, as fast as possible, because these days films are only in theaters Stateside for around a week.

Meanwhile, American SW fans like me have to stay off the Internet for a few days if they want to avoid being spoiled blind before they can even see it in theaters.
