“Who is Luke Skywalker? It’s better for the mystery if the audience never finds out, really.”

What is this even supposed to mean.

I think it means that Robert Patrick should have directed Episode IX.

Heh!

Abrams’ answer to Kathleen Kennedy’s question “who is Luke Skywalker” is supposedly what got him the gig to direct TFA in the first place. Unless his answer was “a mystery box,” there’s no sign of that in the film.

Or maybe Abrams just had difficulty translating from the German (where the equivalents to English “who” and “where,” wo and wer, have swapped meaning).

The idea of Vader and Anakin being the same person seems to date from the making of ESB, as you say. But the notion of Vader being a secret Skywalker (Luke’s brother, uncle, illegitimate father) seems to have been present even on the first film: in a 1975 conversation with Alan Dean Foster, Lucas said the second SW film was when we would “learn who Darth Vader is”.

There was a magazine sized issue part of the Marvel Super Special run and an oversized giant edition.

Can’t recall what version of Yoda appeared in them though. I probably had the oversized edition but those things were hard to store with one’s regular sized comics.

I have the Norwegian version of that edition, and Yoda looks more or less normal in it. He’s still smaller than in the movie, but his face looks like the proper final design.

I’ve read (and own) several versions of Marvel’s ESB adaptation and I’ve only seen two versions. In both he’s too small, and in the second Williamson mostly just re-drew Yoda’s face/head.

The gradient shading in those pics! A great example of how “realistic” Special Editionist re-coloring of vintage comics has infected the modern comic book industry. Not even an inset illustration in a book can go without “improvement”.

Apparently Trevorrow tried to go up against Kennedy and had a big head from the success of Jurassic World.

Have to wonder who that “veteran movie producer” quoted at the end of the article is. It couldn’t be, say, Frank Marshall?

I think he meant that Disney keeps extending copyright duration so that their old titles don’t fall into the public domain.

The maximum term of copyright protection (including renewal) became 95 years in 1998 for all works published after 1964.

Perpetual copyright on the installment plan. I doubt we’ll ever see the year 1930 come into the public domain.
