Sorry, I only gave half of the info before. The capture to BMP is actually done in VirtualDubMod. Instead of saving the images as AVI, you can save as a sequence of images. Then you can reassemble a series of images in TMPGEnc when you load. Photoshop is done in-between those steps. There are probably much better tools that do this without modifying individual images by hand, but I don't have them.
Almost completely off topic, perhaps even better suited for the Politics forum, I just had to link to this story that would make Gus Gorman, not to mention Michael Bolton (not the singer) and Samir Nagheenanajar salivate with anticipation. If you get the reference, you get an extra ten points.
How about a movie called "Dead Presidents" where, when people aren't around, all the great heads of state on all the different forms of U.S. currency come to life and figure out how to reproduce for Disney's coffers.
That's what they get for marketing a PG-13 movie to kids. They WISELY scaled back on Batman merchandising last year, and kept toy licensing far from their minds when making the film (something Schumaker couldn't resist). Even Harry Potter is reworking their licensing deals to tie in with more mature stuff as he gets older (and as the stories get darker).
Originally posted by: THX Supes borrowed a costume ring from Barry Allen to hide his boots in. I know it doesn't make sense now, but just wait for "Superman Forever."
I'm personally awaiting "Superman and Robin: A Joel Schumaker Film." All the bitching about how gay Singer is will quickly be forgotten.
Having just watched Superman III, I'm amazed at just how much the new suit looks like Bad Superman's suit in that film. That's the worst part of the magenta. It just looks like Bad Superman.
I love how virtually every poster and promo shot had his suit color corrected to the more traditional red. The marketing guys knew this color was a bad idea.
I don't get how Singer continually says "If you're making a Superman movie, don't be afraid to make a Superman movie." He specifically talked about not overly modernizing the character or the classic elements. Then he screws up the suit. I, for one, found the suit to be the #1 biggest detractor of the film. The Super-Stalker scene was probably #2. Parker-Posey-Should-Have-Been-Lois was #3. After that, I thought the film was good enough.
Edit: Though I have to say, the superboots would merit not even needing normal shoes. They'd just look like cordovan loafers under a business suit. I wanna know how Supes hid the good ol' red boots all these years.
But womble only encodes video that has been modified. Splicing should leave the video untouched.
Sounds like you're editing a telecined source. These lines become noticible when you're editing, but aren't so much on a TV itself. What is the source?
For the record, this man was not some sleazy guy. Yes he gave the world Hooters (the restaurant chain), but he also ran the Eastern Foods conglomerate, which includes the Naturally Fresh food line. He was a philanthropist, donating millions to the improvement of sports and fine arts programs across South Carolina. Sure, he built football stadiums and bought jumbotrons for football programs, but he also built one of the great fine arts centers. He even developed a collegiate major for motorsports engineering (yep, NASCAR is a college major now). He was considered one of the south's finest entrepreneurs.
Mr. Brooks, your mark on business will be remembered as a positive one. You will be sorely missed.
I totally dig Smallville. It's a fresher take on the franchise than SR. Not perfect, but damn good fun. You should rent it first to see what you think.
Gorman, Webster and all related characters would be gone. I just feel like Lex makes the Superman story. Maybe if the ultimate computer really was Braniac, but that plot fell by the wayside in development.
But as I said, this probably isn't even worth the effort.
I still think you'll be happy with the Donner Cut of Superman II when it comes out. There's a difference between camp and comic relief. Superman I mostly had comic relief (Otis and Lex pushed the envelope towards camp). The rest of the Reeve movies were chock full of camp, but that was due to Richard Lester's influence. I think the Donner Cut of II will get back towards less camp and more comic relief. At least, I hope.
I just finished watching III and IV for the first time in ages (IV was the first time since the '80s when it debuted on video) and I didn't remember just how wretched they are. The FX in IV are so positively miserable. I was toying with the idea of editing the two into one good movie, but I don't know if it's possible. I'd like a story that interweaves Lex & Nuclear Man with Clark's return to Smallville, the Lana angle, and the whole split personality thing (which I'd have caused by Nuclear Man's scratch). But between the bad FX and Nuclear Man's scene chewing, I just don't know if it's worth the effort. The goal would be to cut out the whole Gus Gorman plot and the whole Mariel Hemingway plot, if possible.
It's time for you to teach me what that means. I know I have a +R and -R DL burner. I've always let nero set the layer break on the fly. How does this differ, and what are the advantages I'll gain? Any instructions? I always like learning new functionality.
Probably won't be a need for one. There was nothing from the special edition that I thought was worthy in ESB. ESB was a completely perfect film on its own. If DE reverts every single one of the SE elements I won't mind at all.
