snag in vhs recording

I tried for 5 seconds to record my 95 faces vhs onto dvd, but the recorder said something about copyrights and being unable to record. Has anyone recorded this set onto dvd-r, or should i do something else?

You need to buy a macrovision remover, aka a video stabilizer.

no, it has to do something with CSS copy protection. The vhs tapes are in good quality

Moth3r never said your tapes weren't in good quality; Macrovision is the copy protection used on some VHS tapes (CSS is only on DVDs). It de-stabilises the footage, hence the need of a Video Stabiliser.

Yeah, try copying that VHS over to another VCR. You'll get the same problem.

Also, you can download hacked firmwares for some DVD recorders (LiteOn) that will disable Macrovision detection.

Seriously, it means Private Message. Just click the Lock icon to the right of any of Rikter's posts, but first you need to enable PMs on your account. Go to the Profile menu and turn on 'Allow Private Messages'. You'll know it worked because you'll now have the Lock icon to the right of your own posts.
