Those aren't new paragraphs.  They're hard carriage returns which this POS editor misinterprets as paragraphs.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Actually, i'm sure that bug has been reported in the 'bug' report area, or has it?

I do have a lot of trouble with editting, and spacing issues sometimes.

They are new paragraphs.

In written English, new paragraphs begin with indentation or extra spacing above them.
All of our typing would look like this otherwise.
Not very nice to read, is it?
Nope.

The editor creates proper semantic markup with HTML paragraph tags enclosing every new paragraph, which is the way it should be. And because of that, the editor is displaying exactly what your post is going to look like when you post it.

Hold down the Shift key when you press enter/return and you'll get a single new line.

Like.
So.

Why you would want one line after the other, I have no idea.

negative1's posts have crazy spacing because he's hitting return twice for each new paragraph.

Try the latest version of Word. It behaves the same as the editor because new paragraphs are treated differently than new lines; new paragraphs are the default, new lines are an option requiring an additional key press.

And I'm not sure what being a programmer has to do with splitting up your sentences into five-word lines. I'm a programmer, and I write English properly.

Each new paragraph? Try each new sentence.

Surprised this is the first time anyone has said anything. I am used to it by now. It was one of those things like Psycho's BROKEN CAPSLOCK, and Sky's minimally punctuated walls of text, once you get used to it you hardly even notice it... well...

Get negative1, Tiptup, and lordjedi all posting and quoting each other in the same topic and my scroll wheel would probably wear out or catch fire.

^ that would cause a rift in space/time before anything happened to your mouswheel...

Thank you.
I'm happy to now know a work-around for this bug.

Now how to turn off this WYSIWYG mode and see the markup tags?

I refuse to accept the notion that a thing is 'right' simply because that's the way Microsoft Word does it.
Within the context of editing or word processing software, I believe the Enter key or whichever key occupies that patch of real estate should retain backward compatibility with IBM's Selectric typewriter.  While that key could be user-configured to double-space with one press, IBM never intended it as a "new paragraph" key.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

You still don't get it, do you?

Forget the business about Return or Shift+Return, you do not need to press anything when you get to the end of the line.

Just carry on typing - when the line is full, your words will automatically appear on the next line below.  It's called word wrap. Amazing isn't it? Why not try it out now...

And don't come back to me with any bullshit about "that's the way I've always typed on the newsgroups", every Usenet client I know will wrap your text for you at ~72 characters.

I don't see a problem with he posts

He can space them however he wants

It has always given his posts a certain signature tone that stands out.

its conversation, not formal essay writing
