Why was Liam Neeson not really part in 2 or 3?

I did a little research before posting this and found that Liam did record a line for 2 and it’s in the final film. He was gonna do a Jedi ghost thing in 3 but that was never filmed. I don’t suppose Liam asked for too much since he was in 2. Do you guys think it would have been better if he appeared as a force ghost at least once? Force ghosts were a major part of the OT so having one in the PT would have been a way to tie them together. Otherwise it’s like they don’t even exist.

Apparently Qui Gon patented the method of becoming a Force Ghost.

I’m assuming any scenes cut from Episode 3 was a good idea as they tried to keep every scene in 1 and 2 and they wound up terrible movies. Maybe no Qui Gon in Ep3 turned out to be a good thing.

Not so much cut, as there was no voiceover in this scene. It’s just a long silent pan around Yoda’a head, before Bail walks in.

As the scene is now, Yoda could be taking a nap for all we know. Without the Qui Gon voiceover, the reference to him at the end of the film is cryptic and out of left field at best.

The mention of Qui-Gon in Episode III is basically a big giant neon sign saying “this scene was deleted.”

just a joke about trademarks.

i don’t know why it isn’t displayed (other than being old most likely). but i do have an idea how to fix it: “just use the force”

Hey that’s my trademark you’re misappropriating, buddo!
You sure make it difficult to ignore you spiritually when you make me need to enforce my intellectual property rights!
Also, tee-hee @ Quiggles.

Do you think prior to the episode I release it was always the plan to have Qui-Gon learn how to communicate beyond the grave and teach Obi-Wan and Yoda how to become force ghosts?

Or do you think they just messed up by not having Qui-Gon’s body disappear after he died like all Jedi who did in the OT and had to find some way to explain it after the fact?

^ Lucas et al. were already saying when Episode I came out that we’d learn by the end of the PT why Qui-Gon’s body didn’t disappear. So having that as a “mystery” for future episodes was already on the cards in 1999 at least.

Of course, he also said after Episode II that we’d learn about the mystery of Sifo-Dyas in the next film. And then we… didn’t.

Ah yes and therefore our burning thirst for the truth about Sniffle-Diffle or whatever goes unquenched to this very day. When will this torment cease?

That kind of answer is why I don’t post on these forums much.
