I've already said I'm just a guy who's peeved at the constant negativity and pointless arguing. I'm just trying to make some of you aware that this place, once feckin brilliant, is becoming a frustrating place to visit. The fact that despite me acting just like one of those supergrover wanker types and STILL getting the exact same treatment as I was saying I was whinging about makes me depressed. There's no hidden member to find, I just want folk like Frink to maybe not post every single time somebody else does and "people" like haseo and thuselwotsit to piss off and stop abusing our eyeballs with their useless self serving posts. Don't waste your time feeding MY (I was hoping ironic) trolling, Drcrow got it right, the point is that you should ignore me. Now feck off and start talking about fun things again please :)

Tyrphanex has got it. Silverwook has got it too but doesn't realise it! No matter how much noise these prats make here no matter how much you want to engage with them, just don't! If you think they're a sock then think it, don't post it. If you want to tell them what you think of them, use the ignore function. Doing nothing says more than any post ever could - it's not like in real life when you sometimes just can't get away from them is it? Most importantly it will give them no reason to continue posting and no reason to ever return. Smart comments and conspiracy theories might be momentarily fun for those making them and May give a few other people a brief chuckle but for the many, many other readers of this site who just come to read something entertaining all it does is frustrate us. These tossers have found a nice home on Facebook and in the YouTube comments, let's not make them feel as though this site is a place to come as well.

If so, just a basic "don't feed the trolls" would have sufficed. And then maybe start a new, interesting conversation, o long time lurker of these boards.

Besides, some people here are bothered by them, yes, but some people like to have fun messing with the trolls.

To me the internet is like CB radio, you can have mundane conversations or you can scream obscenities to a person sitting miles away from you, it doesn't matter, it's still a fun waste of time.

 People have said don't feed the trolls before but those who enjoy messing with them cant help themselves. As I said, thats fun for them but not for the majority. It also gives the trolls what they came for in the first place, attention. Can't those who enjoy interacting with trolls do it on the MANY other sites out there? This site is special, there's nothing out there quite like it but it could so easily turn into a YouTube comments or Facebook page.

I'm done now, going back to lurking. I just hope my alternative (and for that read: bonkers) exercise in troll interaction has had an effect on some of you.

 here is the problem with your logic:

If you do nothing and ignore the troll/sock, but nobody else joins you, it won't work.  Your efforts will be in vain.  Troll/sock remain and be fed by the others.  Therefore, your idea of think it and not posting it, won't work.  Only if everyone joins together and ignores the troll/sock, will such a tactic work.  Therefore you have to post when you suspect a troll/sock.   If you want everyone to join you in ignoring the troll/sock, you are going to have post your suspecions and and convince everyone to join you. This requires discussion.  Of course there is the much quicker way of solving the problem: a ban.  But the mods here are reluctant to do that, especially if the troll/sock keeps to the off topic section.
