 I'm afraid to ask...

yet, I find that image so compelling..as ashamed I am to say it.

Don't be afraid. It's just Mark Hamill as the greatest villain the Flash tv series ever had. It probably lead to him doing the Joker.

Mark even got to voice the Trickster in the Justice League animated series.

But xhonzi doesn't capitalize his name.  Lucas does.

The lawsuit is being filed.

Lucas has absolutely no foresight.  He has Luke and Leia making out and makes them brother & sister 3 years later.  He could not pull off such a "conspiracy" if his life depended on it.

And now for my conspiracy theory:

I wonder if some posters here are Lucasfilm plants?  Some people post ridiculous things like this topic that just make us look bad.  A couple posters constantly say, "We've lost, George has won" and try to get us to give up on our efforts.

True!  The scary thing about that whole Drew McWeeny "banned from the Ranch" thing is that we now know George Lucas really does keep an enemy's list, just like Nixon.

I'm just upset that Lucas cannot do something so simple as restore the OOT. If you don't like my jackass, debbie downer comments, then fuck off. At least I'm consistent in my thoughts, which most politicians aren't.

Let me say that in the 15 years I have been a SW fan, I have never loved GL. To me, he is the man who has destroyed everything sacred about the star wars trilogy. I even tried to like the prequels, rationalizing that  this would be how everyone in SW got to where they were, or the second half of a great mythology. But we all know that is what has not happened, it only destroyed his reputation as an "auteur filmmaker." I am firmly convinced that he was never a good filmmaker, and absolutely nothing associated with what's good about SW is even connected to him. And his dedication in making the OOT lost films and replacing it with some counterfeit six-film saga that's really less than six months old, that is why I feel that Lucas has nothing but contempt for his fans, and that was what he had always felt since he shot the first film back in 1976.

I'm surprised Lucas has never popped up on Futurama, floating in one of those head jars, still tweaking the movies. ;)

I was expecting a little sympathy here. But I'll try to tone down the language anyways.

The problem isn't that he can't do it...

...It's that he WON'T do it.

Sorry to say this, generalfrevious, but this portrayal of Lucas is as puerile and zero-dimensional as any one of the PT's villains.

George Lucas couldn't even make an outline for the PT and stick with that story after he had 16 years to think about it, and you're saying that Lucas crafted this whole SW conspiracy back in 1977?

Just remember that Luke kisses Leia in ESB and then they are siblings in ROTJ, so I don't think Lucas looks ahead at ANYTHING when he is writing SW.

Im right there with ya GF. I dont really think Luca$ is a trickster, just an overrated, talentless shmo that got lucky and made lots of shrewd business decisions.  Personally I dont hold Luca$ in the same light as I did from 77'-99'.  I used to think the world of him.  For the past 13 years Ive learned the UOT to be a collaborative effort, but with Luca$ name on it.  Originally George just wanted to make a Flash Gordon film, when that was rejected, he cobbled a bunch of space characters/ideas around on paper, and with TONS of collaborative help and editing and direction from REAL creative minds, we got ANH in 77.  Years ago at TF.N we had a forum called the "bashers sanctuary", which was created at the time of TPM, for obvious reasons.  Its shut down now, but I do recall there being many articles posted on Luca$'s original unedited scripts for the OT.  They were as circus-bad as the writing for the prequals.  I find it a blessing that Luca$ had executives telling him what he can't do and honest colleagues standing up to his silly ideas.  All in all I dont think Luca$ a trickster, but I do think he has held a grudge against all the people REALLY responsible for making the UOT spectacular, and has gone to great lengths to change and distort the UOT in order to avoid paying royalties and to thumb his nose at them.

Someday I will invent a web browser that can automatically convert any instance of Luca$ to Lucas, and I will be rich.  Rich, I tells ya!

Seriously, Luca$ is nearly as played out as the raping of the childhood.

You must admit though, without George having the initial idea, and the talent as a director, those "REAL" creative minds would have nothing from which to be creative with. You can take a lot away from Lucas, but you can't take that away.

I say never release the originals. Keep the fans talking about something.

Greedy bastard!

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

maybe so.  the idea of making a fantasy film that takes you for a ride sparked and inspired a lot of creative talents - far beyond what lucas wanted to do.  but disagree with your line about his talent as a director.  the creative minds had to overcome his ineptitude as a director.  kind goes with my bottom line - lucas maybe the reason star wars exists, but he is absolutely not the reason why it was great.

as far as the idea that lucas modified the OOT into the SE in order to avoid paying royalties - what was the truth of that? i read somewhere that it would not have worked that way.  The nose-thumbing seems more likely.

from what ive seen, its not even close. and the 'childhood rape' 99% of the time is a strawman used by sycophants and apologists. If hoth-nudist just posted luca$ every single hour of every single day, it would take him 120 years to catch up to raped childhood references.

if I posted the word 'apologists' at that same pace, it would take me 200 years ;P

there is one thing that maybe a better comparison, but im not going to go there either.
