Apologies if this was covered before----but I think these videos have been added recently!:

I saw Star Wars in 1977. Many, many, many times. For 3 years it was just Star Wars...period. I saw it in good theaters, cheap theaters and drive-ins with those clunky metal speakers you hang on your window. The screen and sound quality never subtracted from the excitement. I can watch the original cut right now, over 30 years later, on some beat up VHS tape and enjoy it. It's the story that makes this movie. Nothing? else.

I believe this print had the 35mm optical stereo track.

When Han says "Chewie --jam it's transmissions"----in the mono version there are some discrete beeps as Chewie adjusts the controls----those seem to be absent in this version.

I don't understand the point of this thread. That is, which argument does this support/negate?

This thread is to determine, once and for all, who shot first.

And, along the way, show that the subtitles are supposed to be white, instead of yellow.

No, the video releases I remember had white subtitles too. (In fact, I believe they were actually optical and not video, unlike Jedi.)

^ Then how about maybe a tv airings.

I completely disagree.! The subtitles were green-blue.! I've never seen that movie, but I know they weren't yellow or white.!

What do the subtitles have to do with who shot first?

My goodness, is this what it's come to? Having to prove that Han shot first? There's nothing to prove. Han shot first. It's on film.

When did anyone ever suggest that the subtitles might have been yellow?

Just wanted to take this moment to say that on the 1977-1981 technicolor dye print that I saw in Baltimore this year, Greedo's subs were yellow.

Han never shot first, and the subtitles were never white. You were just confused.

I have to say.  I'm 42 and saw Star Wars a dozen times from 1977-1982 in the theater. There were NEVER anything but white subtitles.  Save your time debating this one, no idea what that guy in Baltimore is talking about.

Well, it was proved wrong almost as fast as it was brought up, I couldn't believe it myself, but was doubtful as it only had gone a few weeks since he saw it, no offense timdiggerm but this example really tells you something about the ridiculous stories you sometimes hear about scenes included in this film back in the day.

And I also think you were enjoying the film, instead of taking notice, "oh those subs are actually white" it's only freaks like myself that do those things. :)
