You got...PROBATION!!!
Oops, wrong thread. Anyway, I got Pat Benatar. I wouldn't own either one's music, but some of Benatar's stuff is ok. Not a fan of Jett at all.
I've always enjoyed a good A vs. B discussion. It's simple - which do you prefer? An explanation would be cool but not necessary. The discussion will always center around two similar things/words/people. Like Frink's "This Thread Is Now About..." thread, the topic will change periodically.
Our first This Or That was inspired by the upcoming film The Runaways. I've always linked Pat Benatar and Joan Jett together, as they were two hot brunettes who had some strong chart success in the early/mid 80's. Fortunately there seem to be enough old dudes on the board, my age or older, who were around when they were big stars. Here we go!
TALE OF THE TAPE
Pat Benatar - b. 1953
Top Twenty singles - 9
Most notable songs - "Love Is A Battlefield", "We Belong", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"
Joan Jett - b. 1958
Top Twenty singles - 5
Most notable songs - "I Love Rock 'n Roll" (#1 song), "Crimson And Clover", "I Hate Myself For Loving You"

I choose 'This'.

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
I enjoy that for once I'm the only one on topic.
Don't savor it too long - I'll be changing it soon to a topic that's a little more relevant, ie, happened after the Reagan administration.

I've got Carter. Sure, Regan was much more successful, but if you look at...
...crap, too soon.
Could I go with "C", Wanda Jackson?
And with early returns in, the winner here was: utter confusion. But among those precincts reporting, we are projecting Pat Benatar as the winner of the first OT.com This or That contest.
Polls close at 7:30 PM, EST, on Sunday, March 28, 2010.

I like Pat a whole lot more. Plus Kristen Stewart is going to make me quit on Joan Jett.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Today's This or That is about the two best running backs of the 1990's, one of whom is the best of all time. Both of these guys were short and thick guys who excelled at avoiding big hits - Barry Sanders made tacklers miss with juke moves you'd have to see to believe. Emmitt Smith took on contact like a practitioner of judo - it was difficult to hit all of him, even when the tackler had a clear shot. But these two Hall-of-Famers could do it all - catch, block, outrun, run over, you name it.
Emmitt Smith had a better career, but that had everything to do with the quality of the team he played on. The Dallas Cowboys are one of the legendary franchises in all of sports who have drafted and produced a large number of Hall-of-Fame players. Barry Sanders played for the Washington Generals of the NFL, the Detroit Lions. The Lions have only made the playoffs nine times in the Super Bowl era - during Barry Sanders' time with the team, they went to the playoffs six times. The only playoff game they won during the Super Bowl era was with Sanders on the roster.

Plus, Emmitt was an awful broadcaster.
Winner? Sanders.
