Ok.
Ok.
Welp, just read the first issue. It wasn't bad. The art is definitely a step down after Dark Horse but it was serviceable.
*SPOILERS*
I do take issue with Luke facing off with Vader right after Star Wars, using his old lightsaber against him no less. We'll see how that pans out next issue I guess. At least Vader didn't already know who Luke was like the last Dark Horse series.
And Marvel starts ruining the NuEU right off the bat ...

It's possible that Luke was having a vision of Vader coming.
Just read issue #1.
*SPOILERS*
Like Tobar I thought it was too soon for Luke to be facing Darth Vader. Luke does not know anything really about the force or fighting with a lightsaber anyway at this point, but sets out to find Vader saying " I have to face him, I have to end this."
Also, Han casually mentions to an Imperial officer about the Death Star being blown up. How many people actually knew about the Death Star anyway ? Just something that came to mind as soon as I read it.
So yeah, lets see what happens next issue.
Well, since Alderaan was destroyed by SOMETHING, I'm sure everyone knows about the Death Star. It was designed to be known by all.

Ah, videos of talking heads who say so much without saying anything at all. I just love 'em all to pieces.
This is unrelated but I'm hoping to get Duracell's reaction to it. =P
So basically, Marvel is pulling their own Crisis on Infinite Earths? Huh...
Maybe Marvel wants the comics to match the Marvel movies better.
Boy, Stan Lee is quite the yes man, isn't he?

Here's hoping the Anti-Monitor succeeds this time around.

There are some super artsy looking people in this vid.
#2 was pretty decent. I like how the Vader/Luke "duel" was handled, though Vader was a little over-talky for my taste. Not a big fan of Threepio's antics, but everything else was good.
I picked up the first issue a day after it came out and got the last copy! Enjoyed it quite a bit, written in character too (which is what I was quite worried about). Stumbled across this thread just now and thought I should write a bit about it. Threepio is written exactly like in the movies and so is just about everyone else (Han Solo was quite impressively scripted as well). The setting starts pretty fast and the whole Chewie trying to snipe Vader thing was awesome! The only thing I didn't like was one scene where this guy pulls out like a lightsaber/whip thingy that really didn't fit in with the rest of the universe, my main concern about that is that apparently everything Disney releases from now on is canon but... I don't like a lazer-whip anywhere but in the goofy place called the EU. Overall; good comic, hoping that the game store will sell the second one.

It seemed more like the shock whip from TCW (which is canon) than a laser whip to me.

Oooh ya well sorry I haven't really seen every episode of TCW (but that series deserves to be canon IMO) due to family watching without me lol.

IMO, the only thing really off about the lightwhip is when the lash dangles down when not in motion. Having it so that the whip goes into "sleep mode" when not in motion -- ie. the lash retracts into the hilt but the weapon itself stays activated -- rectifies that problem, though.

Care to explain what your worry was there?
I think he's trying to say that he was worried the comics would fail to write the characters in character properly.

Yes, exactly

Ah, yeah that's what was my concern as well and still was early on in the issue but I think they found their voices as it went along. Looking forward to reading the second issue later tonight.
Edit: BLEH! That was awful! I'll post my thoughts later when I get a chance. =(
I am pretty sure i am only reading Leia.
It must be fun leafing through her pages, eh?
