@Dorksyde I understand where you are coming from, but even Disney doesn’t care about Canon from their own work…

(One of the many, MANY, examples: Poe meets Rey for the first time in The Last Jedi in the movie, but in The Force Awakens Novel they meet. Again, just a small example of MANY discrepancies.)

That’s the point of these fan edits in that they don’t have to follow “Cannon.”

“We” Make these edits and Adjustments that makes sense in the context of the movie or the trilogies to “our” liking.

“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”

I found some National Geographic footage of forest fires and re-colored the clip as closely as possible to the first scene. It was actually a trick I picked up from another editor who used Nat Geo footage for an establishing shot for Ajan Kloss.

EDIT: Here is a link for these clips and others that I will make in the future. The Vader Castle and Lava Pit clips I have to remake when my USB blu-ray disk is fixed.

I really like #2, if Hal ends up going with one of those. #1’s camera movement doesn’t feel quite right for this purpose, although the visual is still cool.

Agreed. Though I seem to be one of the few people who thinks that both the edited Rogue One shot and this documentary shot would work well together.

We arrive on Mustafar at a familiar castle, then travel a little further to a rejuvenated patch of forest where the battle takes place.

Yeah, something like that would do nicely. Good work! Even ducking into this thread at 2AM after looking before going to sleep and there’s new cool stuff!

Perfect footage, would be nice if we added something 'Star Wars to sell the shot.
Maybe poppasketti could add a out of focus Tie Fighter flyby to the second shot.

Here’s something I just picked up that shows another continuity error. When Threepio gets his memory restored, he tells Artoo that he’s going with Rey on “her very first mission.” That’s not true, as she was sent on a mission by Leia to bring Luke back at the end of The Force Awakens.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

Yeah, that’s very nice. I still think it seems a little weird to see him on the bridge for a second. If the helmet scene were moved there, it’d be perfect. As long as the consensus ends up saying that’s the way to go rather than leaving it during or after Rey trains.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I felt the same. I’ve moved the helmet scene several times but may move it to the opening scene now. Hopefully that’ll be the last time.

If you remove the bridge shot from this sequence, that gives you the opportunity to use it for a Coruscant cameo at some point, which is something I’ve seen discussed in other threads. You could also use it as a shot for part of Palpatine’s Fortnite broadcast.

I agree that the helmet scene works better in the opening, if only for continuity reasons.

The issue I have with the bridge shot and moving the Vader (other than kylo losing his motivation to build a new helmet) is that the the first shot of Kylo on Mustafar is a very “establishing” shot, like it feels like a reveal. A “here’s Kylo!” moment. If you place the bridge or helmet moment first, then the first shots of Kylo are kind of underwhelming. But then they’re immediately followed up by a dramatic reveal of his face fighting. In all the mockups people have done it just feels disjointed.

I’m just not a fan of that piece of music over the helmet scene at that point of the movie. I’ll probably try something more dramatic but there’s too much soundtrack coming from the centre channel. I’ll play around when I get more time.
