It may not shoehorn in any new exposition, but it gets Leia active. However, it may only further betray the fact Carrie was already gone to not show her delivering any portion of the line.

I’m fairly certain I should be able to get Mark’s voice on the 21st. Using about an hour of book readings (not just characters speaking) gives a fantastic result in all of my other cases.
Didn’t Ian McDiarmid also record audiobooks? I know he did readings on the official soundtrack releases back in 2009.

Adam Driver is a tricky one because he doesn’t usually get too involved in things. I initially tried using his TED talks, but that has background noise and too much mic reverb. I noticed he recorded an audiobook back in 2015, but for some reason it doesn’t sound much like him based on the sample Amazon gives.

I dunno, I really liked how Palpatine’s broadcast was implemented. I like that we’re “shown” the message from the FO spy, and the Resistance is shown proof of Palpatine’s return, rather than just being told. Hearing the Emperor’s voice makes their reaction more believable, trying to rationalize what they just heard, rather than immediately believing some random intel from an unknown spy. Switching the “somehow Palps returned” line over to Leia doesn’t make it any better imo.

Lol but seriously tho. I love this idea given that Obi-Wan died as Alec Guinness for him to be Alec Guinness’s voice through and through. I would even suggest replacing Ewan’s voice in TFA to keep consistency. “These are your first steps”
I was envisioning having both of them in a similar way to the TFA vision. You can hear old Ben say “Rey?” and another line in that film. I think that it adds to the whole “timeless” nature of the Force. I mean, we already have the youngling that Anakin killed speaking in an older voice.
FWIW, I don’t regard that cameo as being the youngling character himself, but an unspecified Jedi from sometime within the last 1000 generations we hadn’t already met in the movies.
And in an edit that still has Hayden Christensen as Anakin’s ghost, I don’t think it makes sense to replace Ewan McGregor’s actual voice with an AI of Alec Guiness. Whether there’s a worthwhile line to toss in is another question, but it might be more of a cool idea that could be done rather than satisfying a need.
