Much better, only thing I see that could be nitpicked is his size, mainly the broad shoulders.
Definitely digging the red though.

Darth Sadifous suggested making the fluid red when first discussing this idea, and as soon as I tried it I liked it. It brings color contrast to the scene, it feels a little more Palpatine to me, and I found the green vats a bit cliche. I could try the green, though, if that’s what people prefer!

Yeah, that’s a tough one. The shoulders are tricky, but will take another look when I can!

Can I just go on record as saying that my god, Poppasketti, you certainly do not get enough credit! You are honestly one of the most talented VFX people I know!

Thank you, that’s very kind! But I think there are many at OT.com and in this thread that demonstrate at least as much talent. It’s what’s so fun about being here!

I actually have no problem with the bodies, I think head replacement does the trick! As for the colours of the liquid, honestly I could go either way, I just thought the red came off a little too strong and thought maybe that the green was more subtle.

In terms of colours for Exegol, I’m firmly in the camp of:

  • A greyscale planet, with no tint, to imply absolute lifelessness
  • Non-green fluid for the clones (either red for the nice contrast, or we make as much as possible of this tech look Kaminoan), to clash with the later green
  • Green mists around the throne, as it’s a nice alien colour we’ve not had in a finale for a while, both evil and not just sith-red, and also as a bonus hints at the Nightsister connection for those that care.

Poppasketti, wow, man! That’s awesome. And good discussion about it since; I had my fingers ready to type what you all already have.

His face shouldn’t be the full monster face, even if they’re sort of soulless. They can be that way or healthy looking, as though they deteriorate quickly when possessed. It’s perfectly fine if each face seen is different, like it’s an imprecise science.

Aren’t there stitches on his hands? Maybe there can be a few other body parts in there. A hand, a leg, a cartoonishly large schlong.

This interpretation might not come across to anyone but me, but I think if you kept all the lines about Snoke the way they are, and then had these Palpatine clones, it gives me the impression that Snoke might have actually been a malformed clone of Palpatine himself. The Palpatine clones already sort of look like hybrids with Snoke’s body and Palpatine’s head, so maybe those are other malformed bodies. Perhaps Snoke was an early clone, and they have slowly had to perfect the clones overtime. But in the meantime, Palpatine used Snoke to begin his plans for revenge.

Sure, we learn that Palpatine made Snoke, but what, or who, was he made from? I think this could be an interesting way to provide a little extra clarity.

But again, maybe that’s just me.

I don’t like how the Resistance character Beamount played by Dominic Monaghan says cloning is a secret only the sith knows, would be cool if he said something referencing Kamino “Dark Science, Kamino…secrets only the sith knew” something along those lines, although some would argue the Sith are responsible for the creation of the clone army back in the prequel era.

We could source the audio from that iconic scene in Lord of the Rings when Merry and Pippin team up with Master Sifo-Dyas to defeat Count Dooku. (in disguise as Saruman)

I really like all of these ideas! Well, the latter two anyway - the greyscale planet I’d have to see in action.

I think it may just be easier to just redub his lines since he barely has an any.

when I watched the movie I thought it was a missed opportunity to not have 3po mention Anakin after the memory re-wipe, but I don’t if there was something I missed for him not doing it

Just to throw out some potential lines people could say:

“For Leia!”
“We’re with you, Poe/General Dameron!”
“[insert callsign], standing by.”

Callsign ideas: Phoenix, Ace, Phantom, Wraith, Red, Blue, Gold, Green, Wolf, Wraith, various planet names (like Naboo Fleet, Bespin, Ryloth, etc.). You could either say Leader or Squadron, or a specific number. Maybe people could think of some clever easter eggs to throw in at this point.

I think the “all wings report in” moment would be great for the reveal shot, as we hear all these people raise their voices in solidarity. Then throughout the battle we could get various lines like, “For Skywalker!” I do think add voices to the battle would definitely help make that incomprehensible number of digital ships feel more like real, living people joining the fight.

PS: Dibs on “Rogue Leader”

I’m not sure if that has been mentioned here but did anyone else see @reylochriso on twitter’s fan edit?

For the fleet scene he asked a few voice over actors to record the dialogue from the audiobook and it worked out brilliantly. Unfortunately he cut Lando’s ‘there are more of us’ line, which I rather like, but other than that it was flawless.

I’d feel bad sharing footage without his permission, does anyone know if he’s on here?

I thought this too. It could be great if the dialogue could be changed to something along the lines of
‘Artoo, have you heard? I’m going with Master Anakin on a very important mission’

I haven’t heard of that one, can you PM me the link? I don’t have a Twitter account.

EDIT: I sent you a PM. If you could get back to me soon that would be great.

Talking about Easter eggs, maybe someone could impersonate Hera Syndulla/The Ghost (or just repurpose lines from Rebels)? It would also be cool hearing Mandalorians since Gauntlet and Fang Starfighters are seen.

If anyone has any such audio from other media, send that to me, too. Ideally, leaving it all up to the likes of us is an appealing idea, but wouldn’t hurt to gather as much together as possible for starters.

Red or green?! So I shrunk the bodies some more and added a little murkiness to the water to help cover. I also made each face slightly different.

Palpatine Clones - Red
Palpatine Clones - Green

EDIT: I extended the clips to show the entire scene for context, specifically for the red. The original scene had both red and green vats, so I kept that, and just changed the large main vats to red. Switching everything to red would mess with the coloring/reflection/lighting too much.

Red.
